Stampin' Up! Dashing Deer and Washi Tape Christmas Card Idea

Hey ladies.

Sharing a quick and easy card idea with you today. I make a version of this card every year I think (well at least the last couple) as it is so quick and easy. Today's version uses Stampin' Up! Dashing Deer bundle, and the Suite Season specialty washi tape.

It's so quick and easy to make the washi tape background and you could easily do a batch of these cards. This washi tape is from the Stampin' Up! 2018 Holiday Catalogue and it's perfect for Christmas with the god stars and traditional colours. It's called Suite Season specialty washi tape.

I really like the way the gold metallic pearls look around the neck of the reindeer too. The pearls come in a pack of both silver and gold and are a lovely shade of gold especially. Not overly bright and yellow like you sometimes get.

Here's another look at the Dashing Deer bundle. The stamp set and coordinating thinlits can be purchased individually or as a bundle for 10% off. All the links are at the end of the post.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope today's card has inspired you to get out the washi tape and start creating. Have a happy day,

Claire

Stampin' Up! Heartland Birthday and Thinking of You cards.

I love this gorgeous image in the Heartland stamp set. In fact as a country girl at heart (I was born in the wheatbelt of Western Australia and lived on farms until my late teens), this whole stamp set really jumped out at me in the 2017/18 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue.

Stampin Up Heartland Thinking of You and male birthday card by Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

It was the perfect image for my father in laws birthday card, and I also made a ''thinking of you' card to send to my Mum, as I think this image will really appeal to her as well.

For my Mum's card, I also wanted to try out my new Marbled Background stamp (stamped in Emerald Envy onto an Emerald Envy layer on a Dapper Denim card base). I watercoloured the image (stamped onto a piece of Shimmery White cut from the Stitched Shapes framelits) using the Stampin' Up! watercolour pencils.

To finish my card, I added a few simple embellishments: a leaf die cut from Eclectic Layers thinlits that I had lying around in my 'bits and pieces' bowl, some of the Dapper Denim washi tape from the Basic 3 Washi Tape and one of the Touches of Nature wooden elements.

For the birthday card I embossed the Emerald Envy layer using the Polka Dot basics embossing folder (note that the image in the catalogue is incorrect for this folder, the dots are actually further spaced as shown here).  The image was coloured the same, but stamped onto one of the circle Stitched Shapes Thinlits. For my embellishments I have added some Burlap Trim and Linen Thread, with some gold metallic shapes. I have used the Happy Birthday greeting from Happy Birthday gorgeous which is a great fit for the Pretty Label punch.

Saying Goodbye is Hard to Do: April Art With Heart Team Stampin' Up! Blog Hop

16387394_10154010975516735_4953759083653002070_n

Today I am participating in a Stampin’ Up! Australia blog hop along with the super talented ladies in the Art With Heart Team. We thought it would be fun to share some projects using our favourite retiring products from both the 2016-2017 Stampin’ Up! Annual and 2017 Occasions catalogues!

Select retiring products have discounts of up to 50% off but are only available until sold out. Be sure to place orders before the sun sets on these items on 31 May. You don’t want to miss out – ask me how!

My favourite retiring product by far from the last year is everything Mint Macaron! One of the product suites I have most loved pairing with Mint Macaron this year is the beautiful specialty Affectionately Yours Designer Series Paper, the coordinating Affectionately Yours Washi Tape and the Love and Affection stamp set. I have created a card with a coordinating envelope and bookmark using these products. Lots of these items are reduced in the retiring products section in my online store, but only available until sold out so get in quick.

I just LOVE the copper foil highlights on this sheet of the paper. The Washi Tape is also beautiful and has a roll included with copper foiling as well.

As well as copper, I have used the retiring Lace Doileys from the Occasions catalogue on each of the projects. For the envelope, I used the doiley as a stencil with Mint Macaron ink sponged over the top.

Finally I made a coordinating bookmark to pop into the card (I think I will be sending these projects to my Mum as a happy hello - pretty sure she isn't reading my blog!).

As hard as it is to say goodbye to favourite retiring Stampin' Up! projects for 2017, the good news is we are less than 2 weeks away from demonstrators being able to pre-order even more lovely brand new products! Join the Art with Heart team from May 2nd and you can include new catalogue goodies in your awesome value starter kit. You can join just for yourself too. Any of the girls on todays's hop (including me) will be able to help you with information about joining our team. You can also request a brand new catalogue from them (available mid to late May) if you don't already have a regular demonstrator.

Now it's time to follow the blog hop onto our next participant, Andrea Roberts. The blog hop goes full circle and there is a list of participants at the end if you get lost along the way. Until next time, happy crafting!

Claire

Stampin' Up! Project Life Hello December 2016 Christmas Cards

Love love love the colours in this years Stampin' Up! Project Life Hello December Card Kit and matching Accessory Kit (both on special for 30% off this week). As well as being perfect for December Daily albums, they are also great for general Christmas scrapbooking. They also make fabulous elements for Christmas Cards. Here's a bunch of  cards I whipped up last night.

Stampin' Up! Project Life Hello December 2016 Christmas Cards by Claire Daly Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

Let's look at each card individually. This first card was super simple! The base is out 12x12" kraft cardstock, and I have stamped a few stars on it with Crumb Cake ink. I then just added strips of Candy Cane Lane washi tape, cut out the circle from one of the 3x4" cards and popped it on the card with Dimensionals. The little tree is from the accessory pack and has been coloured with a Bronze Sharpie.

For this second card (I think this one is my favourite), I just used 5 of the 2" x 2" cards in the accessory pack. The centre card is matted and then raised up with Dimensionals. I have used the largest square in the Stitched Shapes Framelits underneath the centre square. The greeting is from Christmas Magic in the Holiday Catalogue.

For this one, I used Merriest Wishes background stamp in Cherry Cobbler onto Cherry Cobbler cardstock for the base. I then added one of the 3x4" cards attached with Washi tape. The stars on top of the tree are enamel shape stars coloured with a Bronze Sharpie. and the greeting is from Stitched with Cheer in the Holiday Catalogue. I have attached some Copper metallic thread under the greeting for some added texture.

For this one, I have used a 6x4" card as the second layer and then one of the printed transparencies from the card kit as a second layer. Then I have just popped on a couple of sticker banners from the accessory kit and a punched silver glimmer star. The smaller silver stars are from the accessory pack as well.

I just love the quote on this final card, it's so what Christmas is about to me. The second layer on this one is a 6x4" card, and the 3x4" card with the quote on is just attached with Candy Cane lane Washi tape. The circle greeting is from the accessory pack sticker sheet and it is on a very thin mat of Emerald Envy cardstock. I have also attached some Emerald Envy stars from the 2016-18 In Colour enamel shape pack.

Faux Silk 2016 Christmas Card using Stampin' Up! Holly Berry Happiness

Hello stampers, I'm back to Christmas cards today. The faux silk stamping technique (described below) makes a great textured background for Christmas cards. It's super simple to do so you could easily do a few at a time. I have used Holly Berry Happiness stamp set from the 2016 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue, which worked really well for the repetitive effect I wanted.

Stampin Up 2016 Christmas card using faux silk technique and Holly Berry Happiness stamp set. Card by Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

My colours are Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green, with gold in the embossed greeting (also from the Holly Berry Happiness stamp set) and coiled twine under the greeting.

Faux Silk Technique Instructions:

  1. Cut a piece of tissue paper a couple of centimeters (or an inch if you are metric) larger than the cardstock you are adhering it to. My tissue paper is adhered to a piece of Whisper White in the image above.
  2. Stamp your images over the tissue paper. Allow to dry a couple of minutes.
  3. Screw the tissue paper up in a tight ball, and then very carefully unravel the paper. Smooth it out but not completely as you still want a few creases left.
  4. Using a glue-stick, apply glue all over the cardstock piece you are going to adhere the tissue paper to.
  5. Adhere the tissue paper, leaving a few creases as shown. Wrap the excess tissue paper around to the back of the cardstock and adhere with the glue-stick (this gives a neater finish than trimming).

That' all there is to it! Easy isn't it?

Here's a closer look at the Holly Berry Happiness stamp set (you can view all of the products I have used today by using my online store product links at the end of the post).
