Stampin' Up! Trimming the Tree 2022 Christmas Cards

Hey there friend.

Today I am sharing two Christmas cards I have made using the Stampin' Up! Trimming the Tree stamp set from the 2022-23 Annual Catalogue. This is a really traditional stamp set, so I have used traditional colours of reds, greens and gold.

Stampin Up Trimming the Tree 2022 Christmas cards by Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator, Melbourne, Australia.

I think I like the one with touches of red best (mainly because I messed the other one up, but more about that later). The DSP I have used is Boughs of Holly, and I have used Distressed Gold Specialty paper as an accent (LOVE this paper!).

I have embossed the sentiment and bow on top of the tree in gold, and added some sparkly Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels. The tree is stamped onto Shimmery White, and is stamped in three layers (the stamps are photopolymer so easy to line up). The base layer is Soft Succulent, then I have used Shaded Spruce as the next layer and embossed gold for the trim on the tree. For the basket / container at the base of the tree I have used Crumb Cake. I've used the Rectangle Stitched Dies and Stylish Shapes dies to cut shapes. The gold corner pieces were cut with the Very Best Trio Punch. These are actually corners I cut from the other card and I will link to a video below showing you what I mean.

For my second card, I have used the same background DSP (Boughs of Holly) but have just stuck to greens and golds.

My ink colours were Soft Succulent as the base tree, and then Evening Evergreen as the highlights. I've embossed some ornaments from the stamp set onto the tree in addition to the trim, and for the tree topper I have used a die cut star (from the Tree Lot Dies) with a Champagne Rhinestone inside.

I made a bit of a mistake in using the Very best Trio Punch in making this card. If you look closely at the corner pieces, you will see that there is a concave and outward curved section. If you just move the punch around the cardstock corners, you DON'T end up with a mirror image. I learnt in the process that you need to punch one side and then flip the cardstock to get a mirror image shape. If you are on Facebook, this short video shows you what I mean, and also shows you how I got the corner pieces to use on other projects.

Now I have got the hang of it, I love my new Very Best Trio Punch.

Stampin' Up! Potted Geraniums Birthday Card

Geraniums are one of those plants that evoke happy feelings and memories for me, so when I saw the Potted Geraniums bundle in the 2022 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, it was straight into my cart! Geraniums were my Dad's favourite flower (especially white ones) and they also remind me of Spring, and the gorgeous flowering balconies in Barcelona and Paris.

Here's my first card with this bundle.

Stampin Up Potted Geranium 2022 birthday card by Claire Daly, Melbourne, Australia.

I have started with a Basic Gray base, and used my blending brush to add a little Pool Party to the Basic White card front. There's so many good things to love about this bundle! For starters you can either stamp or die cut the flowers and both give you a lovely two toned effect, which Geraniums are known for. I have used Melon Mambo and Polished Pink for the flowers, Garden Green for the leaves (stamped off for the more solid layer), and Basic Gray for the pot (I love grey pots!).

Secondly, I love the two step stamping on both the foliage and the weathered pot. There's even a stamp and die to cut out the thin strip of soil you can see. Thirdly, I love the little plant label that has three different words / phrases that fit in it.

Finally, I LOVE the sentiments in this yet; both the words and the font. There's also a really gorgeous stitched label die included. I finished my card off by embellishing with some Iridescent Rhinestone Jewels.

Introducing NEW Stampin' Up! 2022 InColor Starry Sky with the new Bottled Happiness stamp set

Hello friends, it's time to explore the last of our new 2022 InColors, which are now just a week away with the launch of the 2022 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue on May 3rd.

Today's final colour is Starry Sky, a lovely mid to deep blue with a purple undertone. Here's how it looks with some of the other Stampin' Up! current colours.

Stampin Up Starry Sky 2022 InColor

For my card today, I have used one of the Tea Boutique note cards (these come in each of the 5 new InColors) together with the new Bottled Happiness stamp set. Both of these products are available in the new Annual Catalogue commencing on May 3rd.

Stampin Up 2022 Annual Catalogue Sneak Peek. Starry Sky with Bottle Happiness stamp set. By Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

I really love how this colour combination of Starry Sky, Sweet Sorbet, Old Olive and Basic White came together.

Stampin Up 2022 Color / Colour Combination Starry Sky, Sweet Sorbet, Old Olive.

The Bottled Happiness stamp set is fun to stamp with! The flower and leaf sections come as two separate photopolymer stamps, so they are easy to line up. The bottle is also in two parts. For the solid piece, I stamped off once with the Starry Sky ink, and for the outline section I stamped at full strength. I also added some clear Wink of Stella to the bottle to give it a bit of shimmer. There is also a coordinating bottle punch for this stamp set (and there is a 10% discount if you bundle them together).

The polka dot Sweet Sorbet paper that is tucked under the left side of the card comes from the 2022-2024 InColor DSP pack that will be available next week. The sentiment is from the Bottled Happiness stamp set and is stamped in Starry Sky. It's cut out with a really versatile new die set called Stylish Shapes.

Stampin' Up! Hand Penned Suite and Encircled in Beauty Dies

Hello friends.

Today I wanted to share a card that was quick and easy to create, but which I love because it uses 3 of my favourite things from the new Annual Catalogue.

Stampin Up 2021 thank you card using Hand-Penned Petals bundle and Encircled in Beauty Dies. Card by Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Melbourne Australia.

The 3 favourite items I have used on this card (you can check them out in the links at the end of the post) are:

  • The Hand-Penned Petals Suite (but you already knew that from previous posts, right?)
  • The gorgeous Encircled in Beauty Dies. I love how circle dies break up the straight lines in cards.
  • The Hand-Penned Memories and More Cards and Envelopes. I LOVE these! They are pre-printed and ready to go, plus incredible value. Just $17.50 for 20 cards and coordinating patterned envelopes. They make a perfect card base for stamped cards, or cards made using the elements in the Hand-Penned Memories and More card pack.

The secons layer of the card is a strip of the Hand-Penned DSP (5cm wide x 13.5cm) with a banner end cut in one end. The largest Encircled in Beauty die is a great size to use with this image. I stamped the image in Basic Gray, and over-stamped the flower using Pale Papaya. For the leaves, I used my Mint Macaron Stampin' Blends to colour them. This picks up the colours in the Hand-Penned DSP I have used as the first layer. To finish my card off, I have used some of the Genial Gems from the Hand-Penned Suite.

Stampin' Up! Hand Penned Petals Card Idea

Hello crafty friends.

Today I wanted to showcase one of the lovely new embossing folders in the 2021 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue. It's called Pretty Flowers and I love the effect it has given me on the Highland Heather card, with the Hand Penned Petals bundle.

Stampin Up 2021 Hand Penned Petals bundle card using Pretty Flowers embossing folder. Congratulations card by Claire Daly Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

The embossing folder works really well with the Hand-Penned stamp set and bundle. I have used Daffodil Delight, stamped off Highland Heather and stamped off Garden Green on the floral image from the Hand-Penned Petals stamp set, and which I die-cut using the Penned Flowers dies. I stamped the outline image and the sentiment in Basic Gray to soften the look a little. The circular die-cut is from the new Encircled in Beauty Dies. I totally love these new dies for adding interesting circle layers.

To finish off this card, I have used some Highland Heather grosgrain ribbon (new in 2021). It has a fine metallic fleck in it, so I have teamed it with some silver thread and white bakers twine. I've also used some of the Elegant Faceted Gems around the die cut image.
