Stampin' Up! Trimming the Tree 2022 Christmas Cards
July 27, 2022
Hey there friend.
Today I am sharing two Christmas cards I have made using the Stampin' Up! Trimming the Tree stamp set from the 2022-23 Annual Catalogue. This is a really traditional stamp set, so I have used traditional colours of reds, greens and gold.
I think I like the one with touches of red best (mainly because I messed the other one up, but more about that later). The DSP I have used is Boughs of Holly, and I have used Distressed Gold Specialty paper as an accent (LOVE this paper!).
I have embossed the sentiment and bow on top of the tree in gold, and added some sparkly Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels. The tree is stamped onto Shimmery White, and is stamped in three layers (the stamps are photopolymer so easy to line up). The base layer is Soft Succulent, then I have used Shaded Spruce as the next layer and embossed gold for the trim on the tree. For the basket / container at the base of the tree I have used Crumb Cake. I've used the Rectangle Stitched Dies and Stylish Shapes dies to cut shapes. The gold corner pieces were cut with the Very Best Trio Punch. These are actually corners I cut from the other card and I will link to a video below showing you what I mean.
For my second card, I have used the same background DSP (Boughs of Holly) but have just stuck to greens and golds.
My ink colours were Soft Succulent as the base tree, and then Evening Evergreen as the highlights. I've embossed some ornaments from the stamp set onto the tree in addition to the trim, and for the tree topper I have used a die cut star (from the Tree Lot Dies) with a Champagne Rhinestone inside.
I made a bit of a mistake in using the Very best Trio Punch in making this card. If you look closely at the corner pieces, you will see that there is a concave and outward curved section. If you just move the punch around the cardstock corners, you DON'T end up with a mirror image. I learnt in the process that you need to punch one side and then flip the cardstock to get a mirror image shape. If you are on Facebook, this short video shows you what I mean, and also shows you how I got the corner pieces to use on other projects.
Now I have got the hang of it, I love my new Very Best Trio Punch.
