Stampin' Up! For the Record birthday card for music lovers!

Hello there. Today I have a treat for anyone who loves music. It's a birthday card I made for my eldest son, who has this year started working in live sound production. Technically he doesn't own a lot of records, but this set is perfect for music lovers and any collector of old records!

The set I have used is For the Record, from the Stampin' Up! January to June Mini Catalogue.

I have used a piece of the Tahitian Tide DSP for the background paper, and combined it with Real Red, Basic Black and Basic White.

I embossed the actual record in black embossing powder so it's nice and shiny. I cut it out using the largest circle in the Layering Circle Dies. The red striped piece is a stamp from the set, stamped in Real Red onto Basic White. The black and white piece is a piece of patterned paper from the new Perfectly Penciled Designer Series Paper. The quotes are stamped straight from the stamp set in Tahitian Tide, Stazon Black and Real Red. I have finished off with some Tahitian Tide InColor dots which are coming on May 3rd!

Stampin' Up! Teenage Boy Birthday Card

Today I have a teen boy birthday card for you, featuring the Stampin Up A Good Man stamp set. It's a super versatile masculine set and I have used it for lots of masculine cards. This one was for my son's 16th birthday during the week.

It's a very simple design. Here's what I did:

My base card is Sahara Sand.
Cut two pieces of Neurals 6x6" DSP. The darker piece on the right is 14cm x 5cm (or 2" x 5&7/8"), and the lighter piece is 7cm x 12.5cm (or 2&3/4" x 5").
The image is stamped in Stazon Black ink, onto Fluid 100 watercolour paper. I have used Bermuda Bay for the shirt, Seaside Spray for the deck chair stripes and a combination of Crumb Cake and Soft Suede for the hat and shorts. There are also a few strokes of Sahara Sand under the chair.
The coloured image is cut out using the largest cirle in the Stitched Shapes dies (these are retiring soon, so get in quick).
I then used my blending brushes and a litle Pool Party ink to add a little sky colour around the top half of the image.
The label for the sentiment is cut using Stitched Nested Dies (also retiring soon). I wish I could tell you which set I used to stamp the greeting, but the stamped label was in my 'stamped and not used' tray, and now I can't remember!
The number '16' is adhesive letters from my scrapbooking stash pre Stampin' Up! days.

I'm brighetning things up a notch or two today, with a super bright birthday card featuring the new Zany Zebra Stamp Set from the 2020 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue.

My colours are Magenta Madness, Basic Black and Whisper White, and I have added a layer of silver foil cardstock in there too. The punch sizes to cut out the circles were 2 and 1/4" and 1 and 1/2".

This is a great stamp set for teens and kids too. Here's a softer version.

Your Creative Connection 110: Hey Dude

June 25, 2020

Hey crafty people! It's time for another global Your Creative Connection Showcase #YCC110. This month our theme is Hey Dude, as in masculine cards. This was perfect timing for me, as one of my son's needed a birthday card for a mate this week. He likes to fish and also hang out at the river, so I wanted to incorporate water somehow. This new DSP (the blue waves one) is from Whale of a Time Designer Series Paper (all the links for products I have used today are at the end of the post), and was perfect to represent the ocean.

I used one of the 4 patterns of the Sahara Sand DSP from the new 6x6" Neutrals paper pack as the sand. The stamped image is from A Good Man stamp set which I'm so glad has carried over to this years 2020 Annual Catalogue, because it's a favourite of mine to watercolour. I just picked up the colours from the DSP (Pacific Point and Sahara Sand) and added in Crumb Cake for some watercolouring, and Early Espresso for the greeting.

I've used a new greeting set on this card. It's called Many Mates, and I love it! It's new in this year's 2020 Annual Catalogue and has sentiments for the outside and inside of cards, plus great modern fonts. It's perfect for a wide variety of cards. I used the 'I'm glad your were born' sentiment inside the card as it seemed like the kind of random thing teen boys might jokingly say to each other.

Stampin' Up! Bonanza Buddies stamp set and a Teen Birthday Card

Hello lovely stamping friends, and a very happy Easter to you all. I hope you are staying well and safe as you bunker down at home this Easter to keep others safe. Today I have a bright and happy birthday card for you, suitable for a teen, using Stampin' Up! bonanza Buddies stamp set and Bundle, from the 2020 January to June mini catalogue.

April is always a big month for us, as my husband, myself and both my son's all have birthdays within 23 days of each other. My youngest son kicked off with his 15th birthday recently, so this card was made for him.

I love the bright happy colours in the Birthday Bonanza Designer Series Paper. As well as being great for young kids, this suite is also perfect for teens as it has a great variety of patterns. I love this balloon design for it's bright colours and the bit of black in there which makes the colours pop even more. This design also coordinates perfectly with the Balloon Bouquet punch. The Toucan image is actually cut from the DSP using the 2" circle punch, and then I have added a black matt using the Starburst punch which fits perfectly. The 'Happy Birthday' greeting is from the stamp set. Just love how the style of the font coordinates with the images in Stampin' Up! stamp sets.

Birthday presents often include some cash for my teens, so I needed to have a money pocket in this card. Some coordinating papers and another die cut toucan and stamped image finish off my card. I really love how this one turned out.

Since then both my husband and I have both had our birthday, so we have 3 birthday cakes in 10 days! My eldest son made my birthday cake and it was a delightful Orange and Poppyseed loaf with cream cheese frosting. Very grateful that both my boys enjoyed food studies in high school :) It was delicious! One more birthday in the family still to come.

I hope you are finding things to keep you busy and in some way a little bit positive at this difficult time. For me it's been fresh air in the back garden, cups of teas, connecting by phone and online with family and friends, (lots of) Netflix (enjoyed the Harlen Coben series The Stranger and Safe), pottering in the garden and in my craft room. I miss catching up with my girlfriends for a cuppa though, and feel a bit funny about the borders being closed to Western Australia where my Mum and sisters live :( Even though I have up and down days, I am praying we can get through this love, kindness and patience and the amazing hard work being done by our frontline and essential workers.
