Sponged embossing card making technique on a 2021 Mothers day card.

Hello friends. Today I have a 2021 Mothers day card for you. A little early maybe, but I wanted to play with the Meadow Moments embossing folders and use the sponged embossing papercraft and card making technique. The soft colours I wanted to use were perfect for a Mothers Day card.

Here's how my card turned out.

Meadow Moments sponged embossing folder 2021 Mothers Day Card by Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

I started with embossing a piece of Basic White cardstock with one one of the two embossing folders in the Meadow Moments embossing folder pack. Using sponge daubers, I lightly sponged the raised bits. I used the dauber and Blushing Bride ink pad for the flowers, Mint Macaron for the butterflies and Soft Sea Foam for the stems and leaves. I also lightly sponged the white areas in between with Soft Sea Foam.

Next steps were to add a thin strip of Mint Macaron cardstock to the left side of this strip, and to adhere it to a Blushing Bride card base which had been embossed with the subtles 3D embossing folder. To finish my card off I embossed the Happy Mothers Day sentiment from the Strong Women stamp set in white embossing powder onto Mint Macaron cardstock. I cut the butterfly embellishment using the Butterfly Duo Punch, and a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock which I had also embossed with the Subtle 3D folder.

Here's another look at my colour combination for this one.

Stampin Up Evergreen 3D Embossing Folder with In the Pines Bundle

Hello stampers,

Today I am sharing a 2020 Christmas card I created using the inked embossing folder technique with the Stampin Up Evergreen 3D emboosing folder. I also have used one of the. dies from the In the Pines Bundle. This makes 8 Stampin' Up! In the Pine Christmas Card Ideas to share with you.

2020 Stampin Up Christmas Card using Evergreen 3D Embossing Folder, In the Pines Bundle, inked embossing folder technique. Card by Claire Daly Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

For the embossed piece, I used the inked embossing folder technique (I started with Pear Pizazz cardstock and inked with Mossy Meadow ink).

Here's a video I did for my YouTube channel which shows this technique.

Once I had completed the embossing, I trimmed the piece to 10cm x 14.3cm, inked the edges with Mossy Meadow ink and then mounted onto a standard C6 cardstock base. I die cut two trees from the brushed Metallic cardstock, using the Pine Woods Dies, which are Part of the In The Pines bundle. My greeting was one I had sitting on my desk from another project (it's from Poinsettia Petals) but there are lovely greetings in the In the Pines Bundle which could be used as well. It's stamped in Mossy Meadow ink onto Shimmery White cardstock. I added three of the clear and gold gems from Wonderful Gems to finish my card. I also tied a double strand of linen thread around the top of the card and tied a bow.

Stampin Up Snowflake Splendor Christmas Card with Inlaid Embossing

Hello friends. Today I have another Christmas card for you. It uses the Snowflake Splendor suite of products from the 2020 Stampin Up August to December Holiday Catalogue.

I love how this card turned out with the pastel colours. There isn't any stamping on this card; it's all punched, die cut or embossed. I have used the Inlaid Embossing technique on the main layer which creates texture and interest. Instructions are below (but it's so easy!).

Stampin Up Snowflake Splendor 2020 Christmas Card using Inlaid Embossing Technique. Card by Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

I love the variation in colourin this Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper. This one I have used for the background looks like it has been created with sponging and inking. It's beautiful to create with.

Inlaid Embossing Technique Instructions

Inlaid embossing just refers to the pieces you add to the card, also being included in the embossing. For this card:

  1. Start with a piece of the Snowflake Splendor DSP 9.9cm x 14.2cm which I adhered to a piece of cardstock the same size for extra weight.
  2. Punch three pieces of coordinating Snowflake Splendor DSP, using the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch.
  3. Adhere these evenly across the centre of the card using glue or Stampin' Seal.
  4. Emoss this whole piece in the Winter Snow Embossing Folder.

Here's the piece before it was embossed.

and here is the piece after it was embossed  with the Winter Snow Embossing Folder to create the Inlaid Embossing.

After I had completed this layer, I sponged the edges in Misty Moonlight ink (using a sponge dauber) and then placed it onto a thin mat of Balmy Blue Cardstock, and onto a base card of Highland Heather.

Next I die cut the snowflakes in Balmy Blue Glimmer paper and Balmy Blue cardstock, using the So Many Snowflakes Dies, and popped one of the Blue Adhesive Backed Gems in the centre of each (they come in different sizes which suited my project). For the sentiment I used my Word Wishes dies and Purple Posy cardstock.

The Word Wishes Dies are a super versatile die set to own as you can create so many different die cut sentments. You can get even more sentiments when you combine it with the coordinating stamp set called A Wish for Everything. Here's a look at these two great products.

Stampin' Up! Mountain Air stamp set with ink blending for the sky and moon.

Today I have another version on an ink blended card I showed you last month. This one has different colours and I really like how they work together. It uses the Stampin' Up! Mountain Air stamp set from the 2020 Annual Catalogue and I have used Stampin' Up! sponge brayers to create the ink blending effect. There's also a bit of the Very Versailes Stamp Set in there, again from the 2020 Annual Catalogue.

Stampin Up Mountain Air and Very Versailles stamp sets. 2020 card by Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

I've created a video to show you how I achieved the ink blending and moon on this one.

I just love the Stampin' Up! Sponge Brayers for ink blending. They are really affordable and for just $14, you get two handles and 4 replaceable sponge heads.

Stampin Up Sponge Brayers. Available in my online store in Australia from Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

My colours for the brayering are Rich Razzleberry, Mango Melody and So Saffron. My base card is Crumb Cake, and I added a thin mat of Basic Black around the stamped layer.

Stampin Up Mountain Air and Very Versailles stamp sets. 2020 card by Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

To embellish my card, I have used Gilded Gems.  My sentiment and the stamping on the banner under the sentiment, are both from Very Versailles stamp set. I also used this for the leaves and branches at the top of the card.

Water Lifting Stamping Technique using Stampin' Up! Free as a Bird Stamp Set

Hello stamping friends.

Today I have a technique card for you. I love how this one turned out, especially with all that texture behind the stamped panel. The stamp set featured today is the Free as a Bird stamp set from the 2020 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue.

Stampin Up Free as a Bird stamp set with waterlifting technique. 2020 card by Claire Daly Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

Water Lifting Technique Instructions

I think this technique is officially called water lifting, but I also like to also refer to it as reverse watercolour, as instead of adding colour with our Water Painter Pens, we are removing it.

Here's how I created the stamped panel:

  1. I used a sponge brayer and a Misty Moonlight ink pad to create an ombre effect on the thick Whisper White cardstock I had cut with the Stitched Nested Framelits.
  2. I then stamped my image from the Stampin' Up! Free as a Bird stamp set in Jet Black Stazon over the brayered ink.
  3. The Stampin' Up! Classic Ink Pads are really reactive to water, so when you paint over the image with a Water Painter, it lifts the ink in that spot. I just kept on doing this in areas I wanted to lighten.

I have a video showing this technique. It features another card, but the technique is exactly the same.

I really love the edge effect you get with the diet cut Stitched Nested Shapes. They are a really versatile die set.

Here's a closer look at the dies:

Stampin Up Stitched Nested Labels available in my online store in Australia. Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.I wanted to create lots of texture on this card, so I used the Subtles 3D embossing Folder on the Cumb Cake layer, and then added several different trims and embellishments under the stamped shape. You can link to all of these products in my online store, using the links at the end of the post. Here's what I have used:

  1. A strip of Misty Moonlight patterned DSP from the Flowers For Every Season paper pack
  2. A strip of Misty Moonlight Twill ribbon
  3. Two strips of Very Vanilla scalloped lace trim
  4. Some looped Braided Linen Trim
  5. Some wooden leaves from the In Good Taste Elements (love these for neutral embellishment and texture)

You can view a video showing how I attach looped ribbons to create texture on my projects HERE.
