Stampin' Up! Serene Silhouettes with a watercolour wash background

Today's card is for a friend who needs a cuddle by mail this week. Thinking of you handmade cards do that just perfectly I think, don't you?

Serene Silhouettes stampin up

How I created this card:

  • The shadow effect with the tree was a happy accident! I stamped the image first in Stazon (that I clearly needed to re-ink!) and when it didn't turn out as solid as I liked, I embossed another one a little off centre using black embossing powder.
  • The watercolour background was done before I stamped and embossed (make sure it's completely dry). I used Rich Razzleberry and Crushed Curry and the Aquapen with the ink from inside the stamp pad lid for the wash (make it nice and watery for this effect).
  • The base card is Crushed Curry and the next layer Primrose Petals embossed with the Elegant Stripes embossing folder (which sadly I only realised hasn't carried over until after I finished my card - sorry!)
  • My greeting is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments (if you only get one sentiment set - this is the one and all the greetings fit perfectly in the Word Window Punch.

Here's a look at the Stampin' Up! products I have used (click each item number link and it will take you to that item in my online Stampin' Up! store. Saleabration is on, so spend just $90 and you get to choose a free exclusive stamp set, punch, DSP pack, card or embellishment pack or more (you get promoted to choose when you place your order).

Stampin' Up! Simply Sketched

Hello friends,

Today I have a beautiful new stamp set from the 2013 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue called Simply Sketched.

Simply Sketched Stampin Up

I have used one of the new 2013 In Colours, Baked Brown Sugar as the base of my card. I have stamped onto it using Early Espresso using one of the three gorgeous sentiments that match the 3 images in this set. The DSP on the right is from Quatrefancy Specialty, which is another new DSP and this colour is Coastal Cabana, another of the new 2013 In Colours. I have also used Coastal Cabana and Baked Brown Sugar to colour the image (using a Blender Pen). I have also used the Ovals Framelits and the Occasions Paper Piercing Pack.

I think this Simply Sketched stamp set set is going to be VERY popular! As it is a hostess set, you might be interested in knowing how you can get the hostess sets without hosting a party? The answer is my Stampin' Up!  Hostess Clubs.  The next one starts July ready for the release of the new catalogue.

Stampin' Up! Just Thinking Colour Challenge Card ....

I have a renewed energy for creative challenges and have participated in 3 this weekend. I think it's because we have been chatting about them on our Art with Heart Stanmpin' Up! team foum (a couple of our girls design for challenges). I find they stretch me outside my comfort zone which is a good thing.

Take for instance this colour combination from The Pals Paper Arts Challenge 154. I don't think it's one I would have come up with by myself, but when I got the colours out and started playing with them I loved it!

Here  is the card I came up with.

Just Thinking Stampin Up
A few tips to recreate this card:

  • I've used the markers direct to rubber on the Just Thinking stamp. The shape of the stamp allows for a square mat to perfectly highlight the image (I cut the stamped image by hand).
  • Clear emboss an image onto the Raspberry Ripple piece for extra texture and interest- I have used En Francais background stamp.
  • Dry emboss the base card, and sponge over the same colour ink to highlight the mebossing.

You can buy the products I have used in this card anytime by contacting me. There are free products on offer for $100 orders   if placed by 11.50pm 22nd March. If you have a big wish list and like the sound of an ongoing discount, take advantage of the $169 joining offer to get $293 product of your choice and free postage!

Here are the main products used:
