Water Lifting Stamping Technique using Stampin' Up! Free as a Bird Stamp Set

Hello stamping friends.

Today I have a technique card for you. I love how this one turned out, especially with all that texture behind the stamped panel. The stamp set featured today is the Free as a Bird stamp set from the 2020 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue.

Water Lifting Technique Instructions

I think this technique is officially called water lifting, but I also like to also refer to it as reverse watercolour, as instead of adding colour with our Water Painter Pens, we are removing it.

Here's how I created the stamped panel:

I used a sponge brayer and a Misty Moonlight ink pad to create an ombre effect on the thick Whisper White cardstock I had cut with the Stitched Nested Framelits.
I then stamped my image from the Stampin' Up! Free as a Bird stamp set in Jet Black Stazon over the brayered ink.
The Stampin' Up! Classic Ink Pads are really reactive to water, so when you paint over the image with a Water Painter, it lifts the ink in that spot. I just kept on doing this in areas I wanted to lighten.

I have a video showing this technique. It features another card, but the technique is exactly the same.

I really love the edge effect you get with the diet cut Stitched Nested Shapes. They are a really versatile die set.

Here's a closer look at the dies:

I wanted to create lots of texture on this card, so I used the Subtles 3D embossing Folder on the Cumb Cake layer, and then added several different trims and embellishments under the stamped shape. You can link to all of these products in my online store, using the links at the end of the post. Here's what I have used:

A strip of Misty Moonlight patterned DSP from the Flowers For Every Season paper pack
A strip of Misty Moonlight Twill ribbon
Two strips of Very Vanilla scalloped lace trim
Some looped Braided Linen Trim
Some wooden leaves from the In Good Taste Elements (love these for neutral embellishment and texture)

Stampin' Up! Tropical Oasis Suite Guitar Card

Hello stampers.

This week I have been playing with the Stampin' Up! Tropical Oasis Suite from the 2020 January to June mini catalogue. I love this suite so much! This is one of the suites where I ended up purchasing literally everything in the suite. The Coastal Weave embossing folder is gorgeous, and I love the colours in the DSP and Memories and More card pack. Check out the Tropical Oasis Suite in my Stampin' Up! online store.

You will be seeing a few cards made with this product suite on my blog this week, so let's get started. For today's card, I have used the Timeless Tropical stamp set for the background stamping and greeting, and one on the Memories and More cards.

Heart of Christmas Week 4 - Sharing the Joy of Christmas Creativity.

Welcome back to the Art With Heart Stampin' Up! Team Heart of Christmas Blog Hop for week 4. Our aim is to spread the joy of Christmas creating as far and wide as we can.

This week I am all about silver and shimmer!

This was actually a super fast card to make! Here's what I did:

Prepared a top folding standard C6 size (1/2 A4 cut vertically and folded) using Seaside Spray cardstock.
Cut a second layer of Seaside spray cardstock 9.8cm x 14cm (o4 3 & 13/16 x 6.5 inches)
Emboss this layer using the Woodland embossing folder.
Using a sponge dauber and your Silvery Shimmer Delicata ink pad, sponge silver metallic ink over the embossed parts of the tree and branches. Put aside to dry for 10-15 minutes. (Tip: The manufacturer recommends not speeding up the drying time with heat, as it diminishes the lustre of the stamped image). Once dry, adhere to the card base using Multipurpose Glue or Snail.
Die cut a nested label using whisper white cardstock. I have used the second largest one.
Stamp a greeting bottom left side of the label, using the Silvery Shimmer Delicata ink. Set aside to dry for 10 minutes.
Die cut the deer shape from Detailed Deer (in the Annual Catalogue). Adhere with Dimensionals onto the nested label (you can also add a glue dot to the antlers). Add three small rhinestones around the deer.
Adhere this whole nested piece to the centre of the card using Dimensionals.

I'm obsessed with the Delicata inks right now. Hands down the BEST metallic inks I have ever used. Air dries in 10-15 minutes, no smudging and has great lustre. It would be pretty quick and easy to whip up a batch of these Christmas cards too.

Stampin' Up! Butterfly Wishes Distinktive Stamp Set

Hello stampers.

Today I have a birthday card for you featuring a lovely new stamp set in the 2019 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue. It's called Butterfly Wishes, and is a Distinktive type stamp (exclusive to Stampin' Up!), which means you get the look of variation in depth and texture from one stamping.

It also has some solid butterfly images in the stamp set, two of which coordinate with the Stampin' Up! Butterfly Duet punch.

The butterflies at the top and bottom left on the image shown above, are the ones that coordinate with the butterfly punch. I have used the middle butterfly on the left on today's card, which I fussy cut. I have still shown the Butterfly Duet punch in the item links in case you want to have a closer look.

Here's my colour combination for today's card. I love using the berry colours with Crumb Cake. One great thing about the Distinktive stamps, is that you get lovely variation of tone within the one stamped colour.

I have also used the new Stitched Nested Labels Dies on today's card. I really like layering the smaller label at the ends to give some extra colour.

Art With Heart Team May Blog Hop: New Catalogue Preview

Welcome to the May blog hop for the lovely Art With Heart team girls. Tonight the Art with Heart team are sharing creative products using supplies from the upcoming 2019 - 2020 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue. If you would like a copy of the brand new annual catalogue, contact any of the girls on the blog hop and we will get in touch with you.

My projects feature a beautiful new Designer Paper called Mosaic Mood. This paper pack didn't immediately jump out at me in the catalogue, but then we received a pack as an all attendee give away on the last day of Onstage. Once opening the pack, the beautiful colours jumped right out at me, as did the clear embossed parts which add beautiful texture and interest. It's a really pretty 12 x 12 paper pack.

I have used the paper to make two cards for some friends that needed a virtual hug recently. There are lots of beautiful floral mosaic images to cut from the paper, and I used those as the feature of my cards.

For some added interest on this first card, I embossed one of the layers with the Subtle embossing folder, which gives a beautiful textured but subtle effect. I also did some very light stamping on the base card (the leaf image is from Healing Hugs stamp set). My greeting on this card is from a set carrying over into the new 2019 Annual Catalogue, called Flourishing Phrases. The inside sentiment says 'with warmth and caring from me'. The greeting on the front of the card fit's nicely in one of the stitched circles from the Stitched Shapes die set. This is one of my most used die sets because it has ovals, squares and circles in the one pack.

As you can see, there's a range of beautiful colours in this paper. The catalogue tells me that the coordinating colours are: Blushing Bride. Crushed Curry, Garden Green, Mint Macaron, Soft Suede, Terracotta Tile, Very Vanilla and Whisper White. I adapted that a little and used the following colours to give my cards a soft pastel look:

I haven't used So Saffron in what feels like forever, but I think it works really well with this new Mosaic Mood Designer Series Paper. The greeting I have used on this card is from Healing Hugs, another set carrying over to the 2019 Annual Catalogue.

I've used the Stitched Rectangle Dies, and the Stitched Labels dies for the layers of my greeting. I do like my stitched dies, and any interesting shapes I can use for stamping greetings or layering. This large stitched label is one of my favourite dies.
