Sponged embossing card making technique on a 2021 Mothers day card.

Hello friends. Today I have a 2021 Mothers day card for you. A little early maybe, but I wanted to play with the Meadow Moments embossing folders and use the sponged embossing papercraft and card making technique. The soft colours I wanted to use were perfect for a Mothers Day card.

Here's how my card turned out.

Meadow Moments sponged embossing folder 2021 Mothers Day Card by Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

I started with embossing a piece of Basic White cardstock with one one of the two embossing folders in the Meadow Moments embossing folder pack. Using sponge daubers, I lightly sponged the raised bits. I used the dauber and Blushing Bride ink pad for the flowers, Mint Macaron for the butterflies and Soft Sea Foam for the stems and leaves. I also lightly sponged the white areas in between with Soft Sea Foam.

Next steps were to add a thin strip of Mint Macaron cardstock to the left side of this strip, and to adhere it to a Blushing Bride card base which had been embossed with the subtles 3D embossing folder. To finish my card off I embossed the Happy Mothers Day sentiment from the Strong Women stamp set in white embossing powder onto Mint Macaron cardstock. I cut the butterfly embellishment using the Butterfly Duo Punch, and a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock which I had also embossed with the Subtle 3D folder.

Stampin' Up! True Love DSP and So Sentimental Bundle Sponge Brayered Thank You Card.

Hello friends.

A quick post today as I just want to show you the last card (for now) in my series of 4 cards showing different ways to colour neutral patterned paper with ink and other Stanpin' Up! supplies (using the lovely black and white floral themed True Love Designer Series Paper as our base). I will link to the other 3 cards below.

Today's card is super simple, as I have just used one colour in my colouring (Flirty Flamingo) and a sponge brayer.

Stampin Up 2021 sponged True Love DSP thankyou card using So Sentimental Bundle. Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

Sponge brayers are a really affordable tool in your papercraft tool box. The Stampin' Up! sponge brayers are great value. For $14, you get 2 handles and 4 inter-changeable sponge roller heads (the die base inks wash out with water too). I like the soft effect you can get with them. I just start with a gradual slow build up of colour and add more as I go (I demonstrate the technique of using our Stampin' Up! sponge brayers in THIS VIDEO on my You Tube channel, if you would like to see them in action on a different card).

Sponging ink to recolour DSP using Stampin Up Sponge Brayers.

Here's what I have done to put my card together after I completed the sponging:

This card was easy and fun. By mixing up the colours, and using different sentiments, you could easily make up a batch of these cards in a stamping session.

So to summarise, here are the four ways of colouring the True Love patterned paper I have blogged about.

  • Colouring with Stampin' Blend Markers (find that post HERE)
  • Colouring with the new Stampin' Up! Blending Brushes including a video tutorila (find that post HERE)
  • Colouring with Watercolor Pancils (find that post HERE)
  • Colouring with sponge brayers (this post)

Stampin' Up! Mountain Air stamp set with ink blending for the sky and moon.

Today I have another version on an ink blended card I showed you last month. This one has different colours and I really like how they work together. It uses the Stampin' Up! Mountain Air stamp set from the 2020 Annual Catalogue and I have used Stampin' Up! sponge brayers to create the ink blending effect. There's also a bit of the Very Versailes Stamp Set in there, again from the 2020 Annual Catalogue.

I've created a video to show you how I achieved the ink blending and moon on this one.

I just love the Stampin' Up! Sponge Brayers for ink blending. They are really affordable and for just $14, you get two handles and 4 replaceable sponge heads.

Stampin Up Sponge Brayers. Available in my online store in Australia from Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

My colours for the brayering are Rich Razzleberry, Mango Melody and So Saffron. My base card is Crumb Cake, and I added a thin mat of Basic Black around the stamped layer.

To embellish my card, I have used Gilded Gems.  My sentiment and the stamping on the banner under the sentiment, are both from Very Versailles stamp set. I also used this for the leaves and branches at the top of the card.

Here's a closer look at the two stamp sets I have used today. First up, Very Versailles.Stampin Up Very Versailles stamp set. Available in my online store in Australia from Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

Then Mountain Air. This stamp set also has coordinating dies, and you can also stamp the solid for each mountain range shape using the reverse of the stamps. It's a fabulous set.

Sponge brayered sky and moon with Stampin' Up! Mountain Air and Very Versailles Stamp Set

Hello stampers. Coming to you safely at home during the Melbourne curfew hours of 8pm to 5am. Honestly, today was so cold, there was no way I wanted to be outside anyway! It even snowed in the outer suburbs, and it was 7 degrees at 3.30pm in the afternoon. Brrrr.

Today's card was inspired by a photo I took in Rome last year, at dusk. I loved the colours of the sky so much I wanted to try and create a similar look using sponge brayers.

126

Here's what I came up with. I added a moon in there too, and because I didn't have any stamps of the Rome skyline, I used the mountain scenery stamps from Mountain Air which I absoutely love and must play with again very soon.

Brayered sky & moon technique. 2020 card uses Stampin' Up! Very Versailles and Mountain Air stamp sets. By Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

I've used the retired Purple Posy ink pad, as well as a combination of Petal Pink and Blushing Bride for the sky. For the other stamping I have used the Very Versaille stamp set and the Mountain Air stamp set, with Memento Black ink.

Brayered sky & moon technique. 2020 card uses Stampin' Up! Very Versailles and Mountain Air stamp sets. By Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

I have also used the Very Versailles stamp set for the sentiment (Stamped in Basic Grey), and some stamping from the same set on a strip of Purple Posy cardstock. The embellishments are from the Elegant Faceted Gems embellishment pack.

I created the banner ends using the fabulous new Banners Pick a Punch, which punches two different banners in 3 different sizes, so it's really 6 punches in one! Great value and a huge timesaver for perfect banner ends every time.

Here's a closer look at the two stamp sets I have used today. First up Very Versailles which is one I have used quite a bit.

Here is Mountan Air. This is my first creation with this stamp set, but I can't wait to play some more. I have shown it here with the coordinating Majestic Mountain dies. This is one of the current bundles where if you purchase them together you will get 10% off.

I'm really pleased how this card turned out. Hope you like it too. The sponge brayers are such a cool tool. If you have never used sponge brayers to combine colours before THIS VIDEO I created to go with one of my weekly tutorials, gives you a good run down of the technique to do the sky and moon (it is essentially the same card using different colours).

Heart of Christmas Week 4 - Sharing the Joy of Christmas Creativity.

Welcome back to the Art With Heart Stampin' Up! Team Heart of Christmas Blog Hop for week 4. Our aim is to spread the joy of Christmas creating as far and wide as we can.

Heart of christmas 2019 full size

This week I am all about silver and shimmer!

Step by step instructions on blog, Detailed Deer dies, woodland embossing folder 2019 Christmas card by Claire Daly Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

This was actually a super fast card to make! Here's what I did:

  1. Prepared a top folding standard C6 size (1/2 A4 cut vertically and folded) using Seaside Spray cardstock.
  2. Cut a second layer of Seaside spray cardstock 9.8cm x 14cm (o4 3 & 13/16 x 6.5 inches)
  3. Emboss this layer using the Woodland embossing folder.
  4. Using a sponge dauber and your Silvery Shimmer Delicata ink pad, sponge silver metallic ink over the embossed parts of the tree and branches. Put aside to dry for 10-15 minutes. (Tip: The manufacturer recommends not speeding up the drying time with heat, as it diminishes the lustre of the stamped image). Once dry, adhere to the card base using Multipurpose Glue or Snail.
  5. Die cut a nested label using whisper white cardstock. I have used the second largest one.
  6. Stamp a greeting bottom left side of the label, using the Silvery Shimmer Delicata ink. Set aside to dry for 10 minutes.
  7. Die cut the deer shape from Detailed Deer (in the Annual Catalogue). Adhere with Dimensionals onto the nested label (you can also add a glue dot to the antlers). Add three small rhinestones around the deer.
  8. Adhere this whole nested piece to the centre of the card using Dimensionals.

I'm obsessed with the Delicata inks right now.  Hands down the BEST metallic inks I have ever used. Air dries in 10-15 minutes, no smudging and has great lustre. It would be pretty quick and easy to whip up a batch of these Christmas cards too.

Stampin' Up! Strong and Beautiful Stamp Set with Country Floral Embossing Folder

Hey stamping friends. It's time for another fun Art With Heart Team blog hop. I love creating and sharing with my awesome team.

I have decided to showcase the beautiful Country Floral Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and Strong and Beautiful stamp set today. My card layout is quite simple, as I wanted the focus to be on the embossing folder and awesome sentiment stamp set.

*** For an updated version of this card feauturing products available in 2021, click HERE ***

I embossed a piece of thick Whisper White cardstock which I had spritzed first as this gives a deeper impression). Once dry, I sponged on ink with a sponge dauber in a circular motion. I used Blushing Bride ink for the flowers and Pear Pizazz for foliage. I like the subtle and imperfect effect this technique gives. I also like that you get a variation in colour within the sponging, as this really shows the different dimensions in the folder.

Stampin Up Country Floral Embossing Folder, Story Book Punch and Strong and Beautiful Stamp Set. Card by Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Melbourne Australia.

The sentiment set for this card is the Strong and Beautiful Stamp Set (eta. This set is still available in the 2020 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue HERE).

Stampin' Up! Strong Women stamp set available in my online store in Australia

I trimmer the embossed piece down to 9cm x 13cm and then attached it to a very thin mat of Pear Pizazz (I allow 3mm extra for this, so my Pear Pizazz piece was 9.3cm x 13.3 cm). I then mounted this piece onto a standard C6 sized Blushing Bride card.

For my greeting, I have used a new punch which is available to purchase in my online store from tomorrow. It's called the Story Label Punch. It fit's so many of our sentiment sets and I really like the interesting shape which lends itself to lots of layering opportunities. To make the mat for the punched shape, I cut two extra shapes in Blushing Bride and cut one of these in half vertically and one horizontally. I then attached each half onto the back (the side without the stamping) slightly overlapping the white punched shape. When you have attached all 4 pieces, all edges have a nice border.

To finish my card, I attached a piece of metallic ribbon, which is actually Petal Pink, but works fine. I attached the stamped and edged shape over the top of this with Dimensionals. This card will now be going off to my Mum for her birthday next month.

I've also completed a second version of this card. This time I have embossed a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock and have used crumb cake ink to sponge over the embossing with a Stampin' Sponge.

Stampin Up Country Floral embossing folder and Story Label Punch. Card by Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

I hve used Fresh Fig and Soft Suede as my other colours. For the greeting, I did some layering with the Story Label Punch to show another way to use it. I have layered a 1.5" punched circl in Fresh Fig behind the Story Label punched piece, and then a strip of wood grain paper and a greeting. The greetng and the speckled stamping on the Very Vanilla cardstock were both from Beauty Abounds stamp set. I must use those bronze Leaves Trinkets (from Annual Catalogue) more often as I love them.

I hope you have enjoyed the two projects I have created with the Country Floral embossing Folder and Story Label punch. Now it's time to head over to the blog of my talented and lovely friend and team member, Kate Morgan.
