Step by step instructions for snowglobe cards using Stampin' Up! Still Scenes bundle

Hello lovely stampers.

Back with the step by step instructions for the snow globe cards. A little bit later than planned, but with hubby away at his annual Bathurst holiday, Mum's taxi has been on extra shifts. Plus it's Spring here in Melbourne so lots of lovely fun to be had in the garden on the weekend too. Have planted the veggie gardens and have some lovely petunia seedlings to go in pots too. I love Spring and I love flowers. If you follow my Instagram, you will know I love taking pictures of my flowers as well as.  It's tome to talk about cards now though, particularly these lovely snowblobe cards using Stampin' Up! Still Scenes bundle from the 2019 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue.

Still Scenes

I showed you one version of these cards last week. This week I am back with two more versions, along with step by step instructions for assembling them. My first card uses the gorgeous baby and mama bear in the die set.

They are just too cute don't you think? I also layered some of the trees in there cut from the DSP (I adhered to a layer of cardstock for a bit more stiffness).

The second version of the card is the one I did the step by step instructions for. For this card I have stamped the image and coloured it using watercolour pencils. I stamped two of the images and  cut the cottage area out and popped it up for some dimension.

Here's what you need to build the snow globe cards:

  • Still Scenes Bundle
  • Snow Globe Shaker Domes
  • Snowflake Sequins
  • Christmas patterned paper (I used Wrapped in Plaid from the Holiday Catalogue).
  • Base card (I have used Cherry Cobbler)
  • Cardstock to stamp the image on (I have used Shimmery White)
  • Watercolour pencils and Blender Pen for the colouring
  • Pool Party ink pad and a Stampin' Sponge or Sponge Dauber.
  • Mini Dimensional foam dots
  • Coordinating cardstock for the base of the dome (I have used Crimb Cake and Copper foil)
  • Crumb Cake cardstock for the greeting piece
  • Stazon Black ink for stamping the image
  • Early Espresso ink for the greeting.

Here's the steps:

1. Cut a standard top folding C6 card in Cherry Cobbler plus a layer of Cherry Cobbler 10cm 0r 3 & 15/16 inches x 14.3cm or 5 & 5/8 inches, plus a layer of patterned paper the same size (10cm x 14.3cm). Attached the patterned paper and Cherry Cobbler layers together.

2. Using the globe shaped die from the Still Scenes bundle, cut one from the top layer (the top of the snow globe cut out piece on mine is 1.6cm or 5/8 inch from the top of the layer) , and another from a peiece of Shimmery White cardstock.

3. Stamp the cottage image in black Stazon onto the Shimmery White globe piece, and also onto a scrap of Shimmery White.

4. Colour the images using Watercolour Pencils and a Blender Pen. Colour the full image except cottage on the die cut piece, just the cottage and side plant on the scrap piece. I used the following colours: Shaded Spruce, Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Crushed Curry and Early Espresso.

5. Cut the cottage and side plant (on left) from the scrap piece and layer them over the die cut image with mini Dimensionals.

6. Sponge Pool Party ink around the outside.

7. PLace some Snail Adhesive as a guide and use the top layer as a placement guide (don't adhere the top layer yet though) so that you can adher the coloured image piece to the base card.

8. Get one of the  Snow Globe Shaker Domes and remove the adhesive on one side - the side where the dome is shaped upwards.

9. Place the dome through the top layer and it will adhere to the edges of the cardstock around the globe to hold it in place. Leave the backing adhesive in place for now.

10. Use an Embossing Buddy to rub against the inside of the snow globe dome piece (this prevents the sequins from sticking to the inside of the dome too much).

11. Sprinkle sequins over the image on the base card, keeping them away from the edges.

12. Remove the backing adhesive from the snow dome, and also place Snail Adhesive around the edges of the top card layer. Place that over the top of the the base card layer so your dome part is complete.

13. Cut a snow dome base piece in Crumb Cake cardstock, and a decorative layering piece from Copper foil cardstock.

14. Layer and adhere these underneath the snow globe.

15. Tie a linen thread bow and adhere with a glue dot to the right side of the base of the dome.

16. Stamp your greeting onto a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock (in Early Espresso ink)  and trim to size, then cut banner ends (you can either use the Banner Triple Punch to do this, or freehand. The Banner Triple Punch cuts banner ends in 3 sizes and is awesome!!).

You are done!
