Your Creative Connection 106: My Favourite DSP

600 pixels

Hello papercraft friends. Today it's time for another Your Creative Connection global Stampin' Up! showcase. In this round #YCC106, my global friends and I are creating with our favourite Designer Series Paper (DSP). I'm really looking forward to visitig each person to see which paper pack they chose. I tried to guess for a few, let's see how well I have done.

My choice was Perennial Essence Designer Series paper. As soon as I saw this paper launched at OnStage Live in New Zealand I was IN  LOVE. Not only because of the colours and beautiful imagery, but the Monet like look of the paper. I was lucky enough to have a trip to Paris booked with a friend 3 months after On Stage, and we had already booked our tickets to visit Monet's Garden in Giverny.

Perennial Essence B

Perennial Essence DSP is a 12x12" sized pack with 6 double sided designs. The imagery on this paper was actually handpainted by the artists at Stampin' Up! The designs are so soft and beautful and it coordinates with at least eleven different Stampin' Up! colours: Balmy Blue, Blackberry Bliss, Blueberry Bushel, Calypso Coral, Flirty Flamingo, Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, Crushed Curry, Petal Pink, So Saffron and Whisper White. It is also part of the Perennial Essence suite, so has coordinating items (see links list at end of post).

Perennial Essence A

The sad bit is though, as this paper has been around for a year, it is retiring on June 2nd or until supplies last, whichever is earliest. If you want to buy it, I would get in fast. I jumped in today and purchased some more myself as I am not ready to see it go yet and want to use it for my Monet's Garden mini album (retiring products lists for the 2020 Annual Catalogue and 2020 January to June Mini Catalogue are linked towards the end of the post).

I had originally planned to make 1-2 cards for this post, but once I started playing I made 6 cards in an afternoon. I used Crumb Cake as the base on four of them, and Purple Posy on the other two. Neither of those colours are on the official coordinating colours list for this DSP (these are listed in the catalogue net to each DSP, in the online store and also on the packing cardboard on the paper pack itself), which shows you how versatile this paper is.

Stampin' Up! Perennial Essence DSP 2020 cards by Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia for YCC106

For these first two cards, I have just used one cardfront sized piece of patterned paper. I think this sheet is my favourite in the whole pack. You could even frame it. To complete these cards, I have used die cut labels from the Detailed Bands Dies and greetings from the Ornate Thanks and Band Together stamp sets. You will see the layered and slightly crumbled little flowers on a few of my cards. Those were made using dies which are included in the Ornate Border Dies (all links at end of post).

For these next two cards, I just cut two different patterned rectangle pieces of the DSP both ways on the diagonal, and then  interchanged two pieces. For this first one, I used the Ornate Frames dies for a big thank you.

In this second card I used the Detailed Bands dies again, with the greeting from Band Together stamp set (these products can be purchased as a bundle).

My final two cards are both the same, so I will just show you one of them. In these cards, I adhered the paper strips to the Petal Pink cardstock and then placed that through the Subtle 3D embossing folder. The effect of doing that is AMAZING with this paper. It looks like a painted canvas. To finish these cards off, I offset two medium daisys and placed an adhesive Perennial Essence Floral Centre in the middle (the floral centres are another thing I added to my order today - they are so realistic). The greeting is from Peaceful Moments in the 2020 January to June mini catalogue, and I have cut it out with the Timeless Label Punch.

Before we head off around the world to visit my crafty demonstrator friends, I wanted to share a couple of special pictures with you from my visit to Monet's Garden in Giverny. This was a dream destination for a garden lover like me to visit, and it didn't dissapoint! I can't wait to complete my mini album and will be sure to post pictures here on my blog when I do.

Now it's time to head off around the world (luckily we have virtual travel like this in times of social isolation), and visit my lovely global demonstrator friends to see which DSP is their favourite. Next we are off to visit Dawn Olchefske in Minnesota, USA.

Products which are Carrying Over

I have a PDF list of products which are carrying over which you can download in a tic, but first I wanted to draw your attention to a few important points.

  1. Even if the 2 products in a bundle are carrying over, the current 10% off bundle pricing is only available until January 2nd. After that you pay full price for each separate item.
  2. Some of the items will continue to be available to be ordered, but something new is being trialled this year. There is a selection of products (marked with an asterisk on the list) that are going into 'hibernation' where they won't be orderable from 3rd January, but will reappear in the 2020 Holiday Catalogue (along with a whole lot of new stuff too!).

Retiring Stampin' Up! Petal Passion Designer Series Paper

Oh how I loved this Petal Passion Designer Series Paper from the 2018 Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalogue. I've loved working with it, but it's now onto the Stampin' Up! Retiring Products List, and only available while stocks last through May 31st.

Petal Passion

The three main reasons I loved it, were:

  • It is a great neutral paper as a black and while, but this one for me was particularly useful because the contrast of the black was toned down quite a bit by the sketch look of the images, so there is actually quite a lot of softer grey in there too;
  • It has a floral / nature theme which are my favourite paper themes (anyone who follows my Instagram ill know how much I love flowers and plants).
  • It was FABULOUS to colour with Stampin' Blends (which are back in stock within weeks now and 11 fabulous new colours (in light and dark) are coming June 1st!
  • It coordinates beautifully with the Petal Palette bundle (carrying over to the 2018-2019 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, but only available at the 10%  bundle price until May 31st.

So as you can see, it is super versatile. Here are a couple of cards I made with this beautiful paper,

For this card, I have just used different colours of the Stampin' Blends to colour flowers on the paper.

PP Blends

In between the flowers I sponged some Soft Sky ink. The card just needed a simple black and white sentiments but I have also added a few rhinestones to some of the flower centres.

In PP blends

For my second card, I have used one of my favourite colour combinations with this paper: Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive.

Painted Palette CC

For the floral image, I have stamped the image from the Petal Palette Stamp Set (see links at end of post) and in Memento Black, and coloured with the Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive Stampin' Blends. I have used one of the coordinating embellishments, some Old Olive ribbon and a greeting cut from one of the coordinating Memory and More cards.

Painted Palette CC 2.

Check out the links at the end of this post, and don't miss out on the beautiful Petal Passion paper pack, along with the coordinating embellishments and Memories and More pack (only available while stocks last or May 31st) and bundle pricing on the Petal Palette bundle (ends May 21st).

If you shop online with me, don't forget to use the May Hostess Code for a free gift in mid June. My customers love getting their gifts in the mail.

Time to say goodbye to some retiring Stampin' Up! favourites.

Hello lovely friends.

Had a fabulous time away in Sydney over the weekend at OnStage training with over 40 of my team and nearly 600 fellow demonstrators. We were very lucky to have Sara Douglass attend our event too. We had the new 2018 Annual Catalogue unveiled to demonstrators and saw lots of new products.

With the new, comes the goodbyes though, and that's what today's post is all about (I will post some pictures of the event tomorrow).

These two catalogues will be retiring on May 31st. While some products are carrying over, LOTS are retiring and will be gone for good after May 31st.

Everything Else

Important Information about the Retiring Lists

  • You will see LOTS of colours on there. Some are part of the major colour revamp (we have lots of retiring colours, read more about this under the colour revamp picture below. If the colour isn't retiring, you will still see ink pads on there. This is because we are changing to a new and improved ink pad design, and these colours will be available in that new design after June 1st.
  • Colours Sell FAST! For all of the colours retiring completely (see below), these will sell fast. Stampin' Up! are only guaranteeing stock of the current design stamp pads and the individual re-inkers through 7th May. All other retiring colour products are only available now until sold out and I expect to go quickly (some are already low inventory and its not even 24 hours yet) so get in quickly to secure coordinating cardstock and reinkers and markers etc for your favourite products.
  • Everything else is only While Supplies Last, and then will be discontinued at May 31st. While Stampin' Up! have said that there MAY be some discounts added from May 8th (depending on inventory), the most popular items are going to sell out well before then. Many products are now showing low inventory, and I expect we will start seeing products sell out in the next day. Discounts will not be pre-announced, so demonstrators will not know until May 8th if anything is going to be discounted either.
  • There are no minimum purchases - get as little or as much as you need. Even if it's just a reinker for a favourite stamp pad colour.
  • Don't forget to use the April Hostess Code if you are shopping online, as you will receive a free gift in mid May if you do.

Retiring Colours

Color-revamp_demo_header_uksp

Stampin' Up! have introduced a big colour revamp, the first since 2010 we did have a smaller Colour Refresh in 2013, but nothing big since 2010). I'll introduce you to the new colours in future posts (as these wont be available until June 1st) - they are so fresh and on trend!

To make way for these, 17 colours are retiring May 31st, This includes 4 InColurs from 2016/18 (Flirty Flamingo is staying but will move through to one of the colour groups) and 13 core colours.

These colour products are already on the retiring list. Ink pads and reinkers are only guaranteed available until May 7th, and everything else is now only available while stocks last, so don't delay in getting what you need. Colours sell fast on the retiring list.
