Stampin' Up! 2020 Snowflake Splendor Suite 12x12 scrapbook page plus how to make your own dimensional foam alphas.

Hey friends,

Today I have my second scrapbook page for you using the Snowflake Splendor Suite from the 2020 Stampin' Up! August to December mini catalogue (previously called the Holiday Catalogue). This suite doesn't just have to be for Christmas cards. This is a photo of my husband and boys in the snow on a short break to Mt Buller this year. I also want to share a cool tip with you about how to create your own custom foam alphas, which will save you time and money and give you perfect colour coordination every time.

Stampin Up 12x12 Scrapbooking Layout using Snowflake Splendor Suite from 2020 August to December minin cataogue. Page by Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

It's a 5x7" photo, so I just cut a strip of the Snowflake Splendor DSP the same height and added it either side. My base cardstock is Balmy Blue from the Subtles 12x12 pack (you get 2 12x12" sheets of each of the subtle coloured cardstock). I wanted subtle embellishments, so I die cut some snowflakes from the Stampin' Up! Window Sheets using the So Many Snowflakes dies, and layered a smaller Balmy Blue snowflake on top with a Blue Adhesive Backed Gem on top. All of these product are in the Snowflake Splendor Suite and you can see them using the links at the end of the post.

For the title, I have used the totally awesome new Playful Alphabet dies, and the adhesive foam sheets. By adhering some of the DSP to the top layer of the foam sheets before cutting, I made my own custom colour coordinated dimensional foam alphas that are adhesive. This is so totally cool. The letters are a great size too and can be used on cards as well. The dimension created by using the foam sheets makes all the difference, and having them already adhesive, saves so much time and messing around.

Here's a closer look at the Playful Alphabet Dies. Love these, especially as they contain numbers, symbols and extras of commonly used letters as well. Such a versatile die set.Playful Alphabet Dies by Stampin Up. Available in Australia at clairedaly.typepad.com

Here's the Foam Adhesive Sheets .It only shows 3 sheets, but you actually get 6 sheets in the pack (size is 11cm x 11.4cm for each sheet). Double-sided adhesive foam sheets can be cut with Paper Snips (p. 159) or open dies to fit any project. They are acid free and ideal for use with cardstock and paper.

Finally, here's a look at the beautiful Snowflake Splendor DSP. I really love that this paper coordinates with such a wide range of colours which makes it even more versatile.

Sponge brayered sky and moon with Stampin' Up! Mountain Air and Very Versailles Stamp Set

Hello stampers. Coming to you safely at home during the Melbourne curfew hours of 8pm to 5am. Honestly, today was so cold, there was no way I wanted to be outside anyway! It even snowed in the outer suburbs, and it was 7 degrees at 3.30pm in the afternoon. Brrrr.

Today's card was inspired by a photo I took in Rome last year, at dusk. I loved the colours of the sky so much I wanted to try and create a similar look using sponge brayers.

Here's what I came up with. I added a moon in there too, and because I didn't have any stamps of the Rome skyline, I used the mountain scenery stamps from Mountain Air which I absoutely love and must play with again very soon.

I've used the retired Purple Posy ink pad, as well as a combination of Petal Pink and Blushing Bride for the sky. For the other stamping I have used the Very Versaille stamp set and the Mountain Air stamp set, with Memento Black ink.

I have also used the Very Versailles stamp set for the sentiment (Stamped in Basic Grey), and some stamping from the same set on a strip of Purple Posy cardstock. The embellishments are from the Elegant Faceted Gems embellishment pack.

I created the banner ends using the fabulous new Banners Pick a Punch, which punches two different banners in 3 different sizes, so it's really 6 punches in one! Great value and a huge timesaver for perfect banner ends every time.

Here's a closer look at the two stamp sets I have used today. First up Very Versailles which is one I have used quite a bit.

Here is Mountan Air. This is my first creation with this stamp set, but I can't wait to play some more. I have shown it here with the coordinating Majestic Mountain dies. This is one of the current bundles where if you purchase them together you will get 10% off.

I'm really pleased how this card turned out. Hope you like it too. The sponge brayers are such a cool tool. If you have never used sponge brayers to combine colours before THIS VIDEO I created to go with one of my weekly tutorials, gives you a good run down of the technique to do the sky and moon (it is essentially the same card using different colours).

Stampin' Up! Whiskey Business coloured with Stampin' Blends, plus tip to give the look of liquid

Off White Clean and Simple Email Sign Up Instagram Post (940 x 630 px) (1)

Hello stampers. Today I have a masculine card for you, featuring Whiskey Business stamp set from the 2020 Stampin' Up! Catalogue.

Here's my Whiskey Business card. Whiskey seems to be pretty popular among our male family and friends, so I needed this stamp set. My base card is Cinnamon Cider, and the front is embossed using the Tasteful Texture 3D embossing folder. The patterned paper is from the In Good Taste Designer Series paper pack. This pack has
great neutral textures.

Stampin Up Whiskey Business masculine card. 2020 birthday card by Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator, Melbourne Australia.

I've coloured my image in Stampin' Blends. I have used Smoky Slate and a tiny bit of Seaside Spray on the decanter, Smoky Slate on the glass, and Cinnamon Cider with a bit of Daffodil Delight blended in for the whiskey. I've also used Daffodil Delight on the lemon twist.

Tip: to get a realistic look of liquid with some dimension, use a Fine Tip Glue pen after the Stampin' Blends have dried. I learned this tip from the lovely Linda Bauwin on an Incentive Trip many years ago when she was demonstrating colouring wine in glasses.

To finish my card off, I have adhered the decanter and glass to a circle die cut from the Stitched Shapes dies. The glass is adhered with Dimensionals, as is the Stitched Shape and the DSP (I adhered the DSP to a layer of cardstock to give it some more weight). Finally I have added some Linen Thread, and an embossed greeting from Happiest of Birthdays stamp set. Even though there are some great sentiments in this set, I wanted a birthday sentiment. This new Happiest of Birthdays from the 2020 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue has been really popular.  It's certainly one I know I will be getting lots of use from.

Prized Peony stamp set and the Rectangle Postage Stamp Punch, with a new video.

Hello friends. Today we are playing with the Peony Garden product suite and I have also incorporated my fave new punch from the 2020 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, the Rectangle Postage Stamp Punch.

Peony Garden | Prized Peony 2020 Stampin' Up! card with video by Claire Daly Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

There's lots of layers and textures in this one! Here are the measurements of the layers I have used:

  • Base card is a 14cm x 14cm Blushing Bride card
  • Layer 2 is a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock 13.5cm square, which I have embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder (see links at end of post) which is attached with Stampin' Seal.
  • Layer 3 is a piece of the Gray Granite DSP 11.5cm squared. This acts as a mat to layer 4 (attached with Stampin' Seal), and that combined layer is attached to layer 2 with Dimensionals.
  • Layer 4 is a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock 11cm square, and I have arranged punched Peony Garden DSP over the cardstock, leaving a small gap between each one to show the punched edges and colour through (see picture below which shows how I arranged the punched shapes).
  • Layer 5 is a 7cm square piece of Blushing Bride cardstock, which acts as a mat to Layer 6 (adhered with Stampin' Seal). That combined layer is attached to layer 4 using Dimensionals.
  • Layer 6 is a 6.6cm square piece of Shimmery White cardstock and the sentiment is stamped in Gray Granite.
  • Layer 7 is lots of looped ribbon and trim for texture (see the video below); and finally
  • Level 8 is the single peony stamp from Prized Peony Stamp Set . I embossed it in white, and added a wash of Blushing Bride with my Water Painters, and then added some additional shading with Rococo Rose.

Here's a look at how I did the Rectangle Postage Stamp arrangement. I arranged them on the corder of a piece of A4 cardstock so some would be overlapping the edges and be a straight cut when I trimmed this piece to size.

If you are relatively new to cardmaking, and would like to see how I have used and attached the ribbons and trims for added texture, I have created a short video for you.

Stamping with Shimmer Paint: Stampin' Up! Everything Rosy Product Medley

Today I have a couple of cards for you featuring stamping with the Rose Gold shimmer paint in the Stampin' Up! May 2019 Everything is Rosy product medley. This gorgeous medley of products is STILL available to purchase but ONLY until the end of May, or until it's sold out, whichever comes first.

Find the Everything is Rosy Medley HERE in the online store.

Last week I showed you several cards and a scrapbook page using the Everything is Rosy dies, die cuts and Designer Paper. We also used the stamps with ink and embossing.  Today, I want to show you two cards I have made using some stamping with the shimmer paint which is included in the medley.

Stampin Up Everything is Rosy 2019 card including stampin with rose gold shimmer paint. Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

For my first card, I have stamped onto the Pretty Peacock (a new 2019 InColour) cardstock using the small leaf stamp in the Everything is Rosy stamp set. I like the effect this creates with various shades of the Pretty Peacock showing through. The process of stamping with the shimmer paint is super easy. I just paint the stamp with the paint using one of my Aquapainters, and stamp! To clean the paint of the stamp I used a baby wipe and rinsed straight away in running water. I rinsed my Aquapainter under running water too. It was super easy.

I have used Rococo Rose as my pink this time (another new 2019 InColour) to soften the colours. The rose gold shimmer paint actually coordinates really well with Rococo Rose. I have added some of the shimmer paint onto the die cut flowers and die cut some leaf branches in rose gold to coordinate.

In this next card, I have stamped the two different leaf images onto my Shimmery White cardstock layer. It's so hard to really pick up how beautiful the stamped shimmer paint looks in real life. You will see in this image I have 'stamped off' with some of the images. This was just stamping again straight after the first stamping.

I have used Pretty Peacock and Rococo Rose, two of the new 2019-2021 InColours again . You will also spot some other new products coming on June 4th with the new 2016 Annual Catalogue. I have used the Stitched Nested Labels (finding this shape really versatile and great for layering), the Woven Threads Designer Series Paper (which coordinates with ALL the new InColours), and the new GORGEOUS scalloped linen ribbon which comes in all the 5 new InColours.

I hope you like today's cards. If you like the Everything is Rosy product medley, don't forgot to grab it it in the online store, as it's only available in May, or while stocks last, whichever comes first.

See you back here tomorrow night for our team Colour Creations blog hop.
