Make a 6x8" Cruise / Travel Scrapbook Album: My Greek Isles Trip Album

Memory Keeping is my first love, and I really enjoy making scrapbook pages or albums about places I have visited. In July this year, I was lucky enough to go on a 7 day cruise around the Greek Islands from Rome. Here's how I scrapbooked my trip in a 6x8" pocket album. I started with these Stampin' Up! memory keeping products:

I used  a combination of 6"x 8", 6"x 4" and 3" x 4" photos. I printed all my photos at the Officeworks self serve kiosk (for my 3x4" photos I had already cropped them to size and saved them side by side on a 6x4" background using Photoshop). Other options would include just trimming 6x4" photos to size, printing yourself at home or persnickityprints.com also offer this smaller print size (based in US though).

When putting my album together I always start with the photos. I leave room for a cover page, and then I sort and place my photos in the album. For this album I divided it into:

  • pre trip & embarking
  • sea days, events days and Stampin' Up! people
  • each stop on the cruise (I started each section with a 6x8" photo and used Handwritten Prose Dies for a diecut letter title as shown in the photo below)
  • our last night at sea / disembarking / reflections

The next step was to include ephemera (scrapbookers terms for all the bits and pieces you collect), For this trip I had things like:

  • My Stampin' Up! name tag
  • Boarding passes
  • Tickets for day trips
  • Business cards from places we ate or shopped
  • Tags that were included on room gifts
  • Stampin' Up! trip guide
  • Tourist brochures (one of the ship layout, one of a tourist train)
  • A printout of my ship account

Next up I went through and added journaling and filler cards to fill the gaps. These were from the Come Sail Away Memories and More card pack (and a couple of scraps of the coordinating Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper. These were perfect for a cruise themed album.  On this photo below, you can see another thing I like to do on cruises for my scrapbooking albums. This is a photo of the cabin TV screen when it was on the navigational channel showing where the ship was positioned. Other things I photographed and included in the album were:

  • Departure gate to Rome from Dubai airport
  • Travel documents and passport
  • Cabin door and welcome signage
  • Lots of food and plant photos (my two loves)

On the journaling and filler cards, I either adhered typed journaling boxes made on my computer, punched out typed travel quotes or embellishments. I measured the journaling boxes to fit the shape of the space of each of the journaling boxes I had used. I don't always type my journaling, but chose to for this project and I do like how neat and tidy it looks (it's super important to also include your own handwriting in memory keeping projects though, which is why I often do that).

In some instances I have also typed strip journaling or small text boxes for photos. I have also used the cardstock stickers (included in the Memories and More pack) and metal trinkets for embellishing photos and journaling / filler cards.

For my album title page I have used a 6x8 photo, and some text which I cut from the Stampin' Up! travel guide for the trip. This is one of my favourite photos of the trip, looking down on the ship and tender boat from the island of Santorini.

I also decorated the outside of the album using the Night of Navy and Sahara Sand Bakers Twine, a metal trinket and some burlap trim.

Overall I have included 157 photos in my 6x8 album and they fit fine in the album as you can see here. The individual breakdown of photo size is:

  • 13 6x8" photos
  • 59 6x4" photos
  • 85 3x4" photos

Overall there are 39 6x8" pocket page protectors of various configurations. This also includes the cover page and a clear envelope at the end of the album where I have added a couple of brochures, the rest of the travel guide and the printout of the ship bill.

I had lots of enjoyment putting together these memories of this fabulous trip. A 6x8 album is a great size for a one week cruise. If you would like to put together your own album and have questions, contact me and I would be happy to answer your questions.

Later in the week I will post a video which flips through this album page by page, for a final look at this project.

Art With Heart Team October Blog Hop: Ways to use Stampin' Up! Embossing Folders

Art With Heart Stampin Up Team October Blog Hop Embossing Folders

Hey there. Welcome to another Art With Heart Blog Hop. This month we are featuring Stampin' Up's! versatile range of Embossing Folders. There are new Embossing Folders available in every Stampin' Up! catalogue and they are an inexpensive way of adding WOW! to your projects. Currently there are 24 different Embossing Folders in the range.

Tonight we plan on showing you lots of ideas on how to use these folders. My projects are using the Heirloom Frames Dies and coordinating embossing folders.

Woven Heirlooms Dies and Embossing Folders Stampin Up

I have used these products to create some faux wood antique photo frames, which I have used on a scrapbook page and a card. I love how they turned out and they were super easy to make.

Ian page 7

I used the woodgrain 12x12" paper in the Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper. I adhered this onto some backing cardstock before I cut the frames.

Pressed Petals Designer Series Paper

The steps to make the frames are:

  1. Adhere the woodgrain DSP to the backing card.
  2. Cut the frames first using the dies.
  3. Place the cut dies in the embossing folders, paying particular attention to which parts you wanted raised. As these are 3D folders, I recommend using the 3D embossing plate (link at bottom of page) to give extra ooomph to the sandwich and a good impression.
  4. Remove the frames, and then sponge Early Espresso ink over the raised pieces, building up to the desired shade.

Now it's time to use the frames. My first project is a heritage style scrapbook page with some childhood photos of myself and my brother, who died 12 years ago. I love these photos, and I think he would forgive me for scrapbooking them in floral papers and pink, lol.

I have used more of the Pressed Petals DSP on the page (I adhered the backing page oto Crumb Cake cardstock, ditressing the edges and spongeing with Early Espresso ink), as well as some of the coordinating Pressed Petals specialty washi tape, metal Designer Elements and a page from the coordinating Pressed Petals journal (the pages are perforated so can be torn off and added to scrapbook pages or cards).  The die-cut 'Forever' word is from the Sweet Silhouettes die set (links below the post).

As an extra embellishment, I created a vintage looking daisy with the Medium Daisy Punch and some Very Vanilla cardstock, which I sponged with Rococo Rose ink and a touch of Early Espresso to age it a bit. Love those Perennial Essence floral centres to give a realistic look to the daisy.

How beautiful is that vintage washi tape from the Pressed Petals Designer Washi tape. I also added a few subtle butterflies around the page which were cut from the Pressed Petals DSP using the Butterfly Duet punch. Now I just need to add the journaling to my page.

My second project is a Christmas card, using the rectangle frame and Toile Christmas stamp set from the Holiday Catalogue.

I have watercoloured the images on our awesome Fluid 100 cotton watercolour paper. I've used Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso and Garden Green ink and an Aquapainter. I've added a couple of Garden Green die cut pieces from the Leaf punch. The backing piece of DSP is from Toile Tidings.

I hope you have enjoyed my projects today. Now it's time to leave the Yarra Valley region on the outskirts of Melbourne and visit the very clever Catherine Proctor in the Northern Beaches area of Sydney.

Heart of Christmas Week 5 - Spreading the joy of being creative for a handmade Christmas.

Time to spread some more Christmas creating joy around the internet! Welcome to week 5 of the Heart of Christmas blog hops, bought to you by my fabulous Art with Heart team.

Heart of christmas 2019 320px

This week I have been playing with the Night Before Christmas Memories and More card pack, and the coordinating cards and envelopes. These two products together make for some very quick and easy cards, and the card pack is also great for pocket scrapbooking.

Here's a closer look at the products I am playing with this week. Here is the card pack.

Memories nd More

The coordinating cards and envelope pack is perfectly sized to fit the cards, and is patterned  if you want to use a smaller card.

Memories and More 2

I made three quick Christmas cards, and dressed them up a little with a few extra embellishments.

Stampin Up Night Before Christmas (2019 Holiday Catalogue) Memories and More projects by Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Melbourne Australia.

For this first card I added a copper star element, some red rhinestones on the tree and a stamped greeting from Itty Bitty Christmas.

For my second card I added some of the coordinating Night Before Christmas DSP, a Toile Tiding glitter enamel dot, and some red rhinestones. The Old Olice piece at the top and bottom of the 3x4 card, is from a piece of cardstock punched with the Everyday Label Punch.

For the final card, I have trimmed down one of the bigger Memories and More cards so I could add some red glimmer paper behind it for a bit more sparkle. I also added some of the Holiday Rhinestones to the stars on the card.

Finally I used some of the cards in a double-sided 6x8 pocket scrapbooking page.

A tip for keeping photos in place in the top loading pocket pages. I cut a strip from one of the coordinating cards and made banner ends in it. I then folded this over the top of the top pocket and adhered it each side. I decorated it with an embellishment sticker from the kit and a couple of rhinestones. This keeps the top photos from falling out of the pockets.

Stampin' Up! To a Wild Rose Stamp Set 3 ways

Hello crafty friends.

I'm super excited that the new 2019 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue goes live at 8am AEST (Melbourne time) tomorrow!

One of the new stamp sets that took my fancy, was the To a Wild Rose stamp set. This is a super versatile stamp set, and I even used the greeting on a scrapbook page. It's a 2 or 3 step stamp, and here I have used all three layers: an outline layer in Early Espresso, the base flower in Rococo Rose (stamped off once), and the final highlights layer in Rococo Rose.  I have used Mossy Meadow for the leaves. The base card here is one of the Magnolia Lane Large Memories and More cards which come in a set of 20 with matching envelopes.

I have used the Birch background stamp on one of the new Nested Label Dies (this is a great new shape to add interest to cards). I love that we have some brass embellishments back (top left corner) - these are the Bird Ballad embellishments and there are a few different designs in the pack. I have also used some of the beautiful scalloped linen ribbon which comes in all the five new in colours.

This next card is much simpler, as I have used just 2 layers for the stamp (and also the centre part of the flower). The base flower is Rococo Rose stamped off once, and the highlight layer is Melon Mambo. I used Early Espresso for the flower centre, and Old Olive for the leaves on this one. I stamped my greeting in Early Espresso and have just added 3 metallic pearls to finish this one off.

Finally I have a scrapbook page for you where I have used the To a Wild Rose stamp set for the title.

I have also used some of the bits and pieces from the beautiful Hugs from Shelli Paper Pumpkin kit (now sold out), and some new Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper.

I hope you have enjoyed tonight's projects. Pop back tomorrow for the links etc for the new catalogue. Until then, stay happy :)

Stampin' Up! Everything Rosy 12x12 Scrapbook Page and Cards

I'm so glad I purchased the limited release  Everything Rosy product medley from Stampin' Up! this month. It wasn't something I needed but given how drawn I was to the paper and rose gold, I thought it would encourage me to get some creating happening. I wasn't wrong! Once I opened that pack, so many ideas came to mind. I find a bunch of coordinating products make creating so quick and easy as well.

Check out Everything Rosy HERE in my online Stampin' Up! store. It's only available until the end of May, but may sell out earlier than that. It's a great collection of products that will keep you crafting for weeks and months. Don't forget to use the May Host Code (7RYV9KJV) when you shop online and I'll send you a small free gift in June.

Everything rosy 3

My first project was a 12x12 scrapbook page which came together SO quickly! I just used a couple of the 6x6 pieces of paper, some of the die cut flowers and some rose gold elements I cut with the dies.

Stampin Up Everything Rosy 12x12 Scrapbook Layout by Claire Daly Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

I splattered some of the Rose Gold Shimmer Paint (included in the medley) onto the 12x12 Night of Navy cardstock using an Aquapainter dipped into the paint and flicking on the lid (we were shown this by Shelli at OnStage).

Stampin Up Everything Rosy 12x12 Scrapbook Layout by Claire Daly Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

I tucked a journaling card into the right hand side of the photo and used the Circle Tab Punch and a scrap of the Everything Rosy DSP to make a pull tab. The theme of the page is 'Life. Right Now' so my journaling card will just have random things that are happening in my life right now. I have made pages like this at various stages of my life, and I love looking back on them.

Next up I made some cards. So many great labels and die cuts included with the medley, and the labels fit the greetings in the stamp set really well. This one is just a classic combination of Night of Navy, Rose Gold and Whisper White.

Stampin Up Everything Rosy card, May 2019. By Claire Daly Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

You may be able to see I stamped the branch image onto the card in Night of Navy ink to carry through my design a bit. To extend the white floral die cut, I cut it in half horizontally and tucked either side of the greeting.

Next up is a bit more pink in the mix! One of the main reasons I got this medley is to make cards for my many nieces. The colours, flowers and rose gold foiling suit them perfectly.

Stampin Up Everything Rosy card, May 2019. By Claire Daly Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

Isn't the stamped greeting on this card perfect for girls and women?  I really like this font too.

My final card was a super quick thank you card. Again I have used some tone on tone stamping to carry the design through to the base card.

This small label is perfectly sized for the thank you stamp in the bundle. You could also colour your pearls with the Rose Gold Shimmer Paint, although I quite like them as they are too.

I hope this has given you lots of ideas of how to use the Everything Rosy Medley. You can find LOTS more ideas on my Everything Rosy Pinterest Board.
