Stories of 2020: An Online Stampin' Up! Scrapbooking Class with Claire Daly

Update: This class is now available as a worldwide online class to be taken anytime by scrapbookers and Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who want some great layout ideas (including class handouts for demonstrators) and scrapbooking tips. Class materials and video links will be delivered within 24 hours of purchase. The layout guides and class materials are open to use for any topics, and not limited to this class.

My class is called Stories of 2020. It is an eight layout (12x12" size but you could adapt) online class (via videos and PDF document) teaching you to combine photos and words to record the stories that mattered to you and your family in 2020. This is a class that is authentically me. I have been a scrapbooker for over 18 years, and telling stories / recording memories for my family is my passion. The demonstrator option also includes additional video instruction (over 40 minutes) about running scrapbooking classes, ideas for layouts and how to keep classes profitable, current supplies which are great for scrapbooking and 4 unbranded layout guides as class handouts to save you time in planning YOUR own classes.

Stories of 2020

  • Demonstrators are welcome, in fact it's a great way to learn how to incorporate scrapbooking in your business. There is a specific Demonstrator option (Option C) where I include an additional video AND four class handouts (with no watermarks or branding) that you can use to run your own classes. However, If you just want the class using your own supplies for your personal use, Option B is best value.
  • There will be subject ideas, journalling prompts and lots of ideas of how to incorporate journalling into your layouts (those who know me, know scrapbooking is all about the photos and journalling to me). I'll also include measurements and photos of the layout and share my own pages and experiences of journalling in the video walkthrough. To keep the cost down, I won't be including stamp sets in the class, but I will show you optional ideas to incorporate stamping, and suggest scrapbook friendly stamp sets.

Class Timeline

Live customer online class was completed in December 2020, but online PDF / Videos available for purchase on demand going forward

  • December 31st onwards throughought 2021: Option B and C available on demand with class materials and video links emailed within 24 hours of purchase. PayPal purchase details below.

A little about my scrapbooking journey

My scrapbooking journey started when I was in a Mum's group meeting with my first child (who is now 18 and a half). I had always been a collector of paper and photos in other ways, and as a child, I much preferred a trip to the stationery aisle than the toy shop. One of the Mum's bought in a scrapbook she had completed at a class in a local store, and I literally went straight from Mum's group to the store. I was hooked!

I immersed myself in scrapbooking heavily over the subsequent years, attending crops at scrapbooking stores and eventually joining design teams and having pages published in scrapbooking magazines in Australia including Creating Keepsakes, Scrapbooking Memories and Scrapbook Creations. In face it was my interest of using stamping on my scrapbook pages that initially interested me in Stampin' Up!

Here's a some of my published layouts from this time (before I joined Stampin' Up!)

6a00d8341f7d7f53ef00e54f16b50a8833

My favourite pages though, have always been the ones with stories the photo prompts me to tell, and this will be the same in the class. Stories are important. It's the stories that bring the photo and memory to life. In the class you will be choosing your own stories and pape titles, but the way you tell the stories and incoporate the journalling will be guided by the class. If you choose the class with product option, the products are deliberately neutral to be able to be used with a wide variety of photo colours and topics. Photo sizes will be kept to 6x4" and 5x7" to make it easy for those who get their photos printed externally.

If there has ever been a year to record your stories, it's 2020. I would love you to join me in this very important class to tell the stories of 2020, a year like no other.

All class materials are now available and can be purchased with PDF documents and video links emailed within 24 hours.

Option B: I'd like to take the class for personal use but use my own supplies (if you are a Demonstrator, you might like Option C which has an additional video and class handouts) - $35 AUD (about $26USD and available to purchase from anywhere in the world that has PayPal).

(Like all my classes, my direct team members will get the PDF for free in January, so if you are in my direct team, or plan on joining, there is no need to purchase)

Purchase now using this PayPal button (please note class timeline towards top of page). PDF documents and Video links will be emailed to your supplied email address within 24 hours.

You will get:

  • The online class watermarked PDFs of 8 12x12" layouts including photo sizes and measurements(in metric and imperial), title prompts, journalling prompts, layout notes / supplies used and comprehensive video walkthrough (over 35 minutes in total) of my actual 8 pages (valued at $35.00).

You can use your own supplies, but if you want to purchase the exact supplies I used in the layouts here are the links:

Option C: Demonstrator Option (great for those who want to use their own product PLUS learn how to incorporate scrapbooking into their Stampin' Up! business and have four class layout guides prepared for you to use in classes) - $45 AUD (about $33USD and available to purchase from anywhere in the world that has PayPal).

Purchase now using this PayPal button (please note class timeline towards top of page) PDF documents and Video links will be emailed to your supplied email address within 24 hours.

You will get:

  • The online class PDFs of 8 12x12" layouts including photo sizes and measurements, title prompts, journalling prompts, layout guides and comprehensive video walkthrough (total of over 45 minutes) of my actual 8 pages (valued at $35.00)
  • Four unbranded class handout sheets (featuring one layout per handout) you can use in your own Scrapbooking classes (no watermarks or branding, so free for you to use in YOUR business, to make offering these classes a breeze, even with different products). These will be great for your customers to take home as they include layout sketches, measurements in imperial and metric, and notes / tips. These can be used with any supplies, so lots of flexibility in offering these classes.
  • Four additional videos (over 45 minutes content) which cover how scrapbooking classes can benefit your business and your customers, other examples of layouts to show different versions of similar layouts, my favourite Stampin' Up! scrapbooking products and how to run a product based scrapbooking class, and how to use the four class layout guides for the best outcome.

Stampin' Up! 2020 Snowflake Splendor Suite 12x12 scrapbook page plus how to make your own dimensional foam alphas.

Hey friends,

Today I have my second scrapbook page for you using the Snowflake Splendor Suite from the 2020 Stampin' Up! August to December mini catalogue (previously called the Holiday Catalogue). This suite doesn't just have to be for Christmas cards. This is a photo of my husband and boys in the snow on a short break to Mt Buller this year. I also want to share a cool tip with you about how to create your own custom foam alphas, which will save you time and money and give you perfect colour coordination every time.

Stampin Up 12x12 Scrapbooking Layout using Snowflake Splendor Suite from 2020 August to December minin cataogue. Page by Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

It's a 5x7" photo, so I just cut a strip of the Snowflake Splendor DSP the same height and added it either side. My base cardstock is Balmy Blue from the Subtles 12x12 pack (you get 2 12x12" sheets of each of the subtle coloured cardstock). I wanted subtle embellishments, so I die cut some snowflakes from the Stampin' Up! Window Sheets using the So Many Snowflakes dies, and layered a smaller Balmy Blue snowflake on top with a Blue Adhesive Backed Gem on top. All of these product are in the Snowflake Splendor Suite and you can see them using the links at the end of the post.

Buller 3

For the title, I have used the totally awesome new Playful Alphabet dies, and the adhesive foam sheets. By adhering some of the DSP to the top layer of the foam sheets before cutting, I made my own custom colour coordinated dimensional foam alphas that are adhesive. This is so totally cool. The letters are a great size too and can be used on cards as well. The dimension created by using the foam sheets makes all the difference, and having them already adhesive, saves so much time and messing around.

Make your own dimensional foam alphabet using Stampin' Up! Playful Alphabet dies and adhesive foam sheets. Available in Australia in my online store. Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator, Melbourne Australia.

Here's a closer look at the Playful Alphabet Dies. Love these, especially as they contain numbers, symbols and extras of commonly used letters as well. Such a versatile die set.Playful Alphabet Dies by Stampin Up. Available in Australia at clairedaly.typepad.com

Here's the Foam Adhesive Sheets .It only shows 3 sheets, but you actually get 6 sheets in the pack (size is 11cm x 11.4cm for each sheet). Double-sided adhesive foam sheets can be cut with Paper Snips (p. 159) or open dies to fit any project. They are acid free and ideal for use with cardstock and paper.

Finally, here's a look at the beautiful Snowflake Splendor DSP. I really love that this paper coordinates with such a wide range of colours which makes it even more versatile.

Stampin' Up! Snowflake Splendor 12x12 Scrapbook Page

Hello friends,

Something a little bit different today. Over the weekend I completed some pocket pages as well as 2 12x12 layouts of our mid year break to the snow, so I am showing you the first of those 2 layouts today.

I'm using the Snowflake Splendour suite of products from the 2020 August to December mini catalogue.

The sentiment in the stamp set was perfect for this photo of my husband and I. I added a little Highland Heather heart to pick up that colour in the patterned paper.

Stampin' Up! 12x12 Travel Scrapbook Layout using World of Good Product Suite

Hello there.

Something completely different for you today, a scrapbook page! I am beginning to scrapbook my trip my few days in Rome before the Stampin' Up! Incentive Trip last year and wanted a 12x12 cover page. I'll probably do most of the pages with pocket scrapbooking and the World of Good Memories and More card pack, but I like to do some 12x12 pages in there too, as a cover and some special photos.

World of Good Stampin Up 12x12 Travel Scrapbooking Page by Claire Daly, Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

As I wanted to print certain parts of the photo and get the full height if the beautiful Trevi fountain in, I cropped my photo in Photoshop, and then printed at home. I have a Canon Pixma A4 printer (mine is a TS8160) and I use genuine Canon Photo Paper (I love the Canon Photo Paper Plus Semi  Gloss) and genuine Canon inks, and I am really happy with the printing results I get. Very handy too as Melbourne (Australia) where I live just went into another 6 week lockdown to get the second wave of this horrible Covid-19 Virus under control.

12x12 Travel Scrapbook page usine Stampin Up World of Good product suite and Very Versailles stamp set. By Claire Daly Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

The World of Good product suite is PERFECT for travel scrapbooking, and especially ancient Rome as it has all the beautiful rich earthy colours of ancient ruins and old buildings.

World of Good Product Suite Stampin Up. Perfect for travel and masculine themed projects. Availiable now in my online store in Australia. Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

With our new adhesive foam sheets, and Playful Alphabet dies (links at end of post), it's easy to make colour coordinated dimensional letters for your scrapbook titles. The letters are about 3/4" high, which is a great size. You just peel the backing paper off one side of the adhesive foam, attach a strip of whatever colour you are using (I used the Brass foil sheets) and cut the alphabet like normal in your die cutting machine. They cut like butter. Just peel the backing sheet off the other side and adhere to your page. Easy! The word 'adventure' is from the Sweet Silhouettes dies.

Playful Alphabet dies Stampin Up plus foam sheet = make your own dimensional alphabet. Buy online via my Australian online store.

I've added some tone on tone stamping to the base Crumb Cake 12x12 cardstock (from the neutrals 12x12 pack) using one of my very favourite vintage sets, Very Versailles. I have also popped on some of the Artistry Blooms sequins, which include a variety of colours. I found the Calypso Coral a great match for this product suite.

12x12 Travel Scrapbook page usine Stampin Up World of Good product suite and Very Versailles stamp set. By Claire Daly Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

To balance the page I included a quote (die cut with the layering circle dies) from the World of Good Memories and More cards. I added in some more sequins, a cardstock sticker from the same card pack and a strip of coordinating DSP. As this was a cover page, it didnt need much journalling. I just added the dates and a note that it was before the 2019 Stampin' Up! Incentive Trip.

I'll be sure to share the upcoming pages of my Rome album too, so make sure you subscribe to my posts and never miss a thing.

Your Creative Connection 103: Stampin' Up! Parisian Blossoms Scrapbook Layout

600 pixelsToday my global Your Creative Connection ladies are choosing their favourite suite of products to play with. I have chosen the lovely Parisian Blossom product suite from the 2020 January to June Mini Catalogue. I have used products in this suite to complete a double scrapbook page to document highlights of 5 nights in Paris. (Eagle eyed readers will note I have appeared to travel forward in time with the dates - ooops! Have since corrected, but the original photos were taken in the best light, so I am using these).

Stampin Up Parisian Blossoms Suite Paris scrapbook page by Claire Daly Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

Highlights pages are a great way to get a whole bunch of photos into a layout. My Stampin' Up! mini guillotine (FREE in the Starter Kit as part of the awesome Saleabration joining deal on until the end of March) was perfect to be able to trim my photos so I only got the bits that told my story, and created variation in my layout.

Stampin Up mini guillotine

I started with two 12x12" Petal Pink cardstock sheets. I placed a 3x12" strip of  Parisian Blossoms Designer Series Paper towards the top and bottom of each page. I then arranged the pictures over the 2 pages, with a couple of highlight photos on a Cherry Cobbler mat (Cherry Cobbler, Pool Party and Petal Pink are the three coordinating colours for this DSP).

I have used stamped images and die cuts from the Parisian Beauty bundle to embellish my page. The quotes were stamped from the Parisian Beauty stamp set onto some of the DSP and cut out with Rectangle Stitched dies. The quotes in this stamp set are perfect for travel pages.

I have used strip journaling (created using my computer), to label each highlight, and to add some additional text to my title.

To finish off the layout, I have used the Hand Lettered Prose dies to cut Pool Party letters for my title (oops again about the date!), and embossed the letters using the Subtle embossing folder for some added texture.

Of course this Parisian Blossoms suite is also perfect for card making. Here's a card I made earlier in the year using this suite.
