Stampin' Up! Bonanza Buddies stamp set and a Teen Birthday Card

Hello lovely stamping friends, and a very happy Easter to you all. I hope you are staying well and safe as you bunker down at home this Easter to keep others safe. Today I have a bright and happy birthday card for you, suitable for a teen, using Stampin' Up! bonanza Buddies stamp set and Bundle, from the 2020 January to June mini catalogue.

April is always a big month for us, as my husband, myself and both my son's all have birthdays within 23 days of each other. My youngest son kicked off with his 15th birthday recently, so this card was made for him.

Stampin' Up! Birthday Bonanza 2020 Teen Birthday Card

I love the bright happy colours in the Birthday Bonanza Designer Series Paper. As well as being great for young kids, this suite is also perfect for teens as it has a great variety of  patterns.  I love this balloon design for it's bright colours and the bit of black in there which makes the colours pop even more. This design also coordinates perfectly with the Balloon Bouquet punch. The Toucan image is actually cut from the DSP using the 2" circle punch, and then I have added a black matt using the Starburst punch which fits perfectly. The 'Happy Birthday' greeting is from the stamp set. Just love how the style of the font coordinates with the images in Stampin' Up! stamp sets.

Birthday presents often include some cash for my teens, so I needed to have a money pocket in this card. Some coordinating papers and another die cut toucan and stamped image finish off my card. I really love how this one turned out.

Since then both my husband and I have both had our birthday, so we have 3 birthday cakes in 10 days! My eldest son made my birthday cake and it was a delightful Orange and Poppyseed loaf with cream cheese frosting. Very grateful that both my boys enjoyed food studies in high school :) It was delicious! One more birthday in the family still to come.

I hope you are finding things to keep you busy and in some way a little bit positive at this difficult time. For me it's been fresh air in the back garden, cups of teas, connecting by phone and online with family and friends, (lots of) Netflix (enjoyed the Harlen Coben series The Stranger and Safe), pottering in the garden and in my craft room. I miss catching up with my girlfriends for a cuppa though, and feel a bit funny about the borders being closed to Western Australia where my Mum and sisters live :( Even though I have up and down days, I am praying we can get through this  love, kindness and patience and the amazing hard work being done by our frontline and essential workers.

Stampin' Up! Country Club golf themed double easel masculine card plus some sad news.

Hello friends.

Thanks for being patient with me while I got back to posting. It's been a hard couple of weeks for our family. Our much loved white German Shepherd Oscar has been unwell over the last few weeks. We thought he was recovering after an operation, but late last week he deteriorated again and we had to make the tough decision to say goodbye to him. It's a heartbreaking thing to do as many of you would know. We are being comforted by the fact he was very loved and had a good life as part of our family. Here he is on his last beach holiday with us in late January.

The Country Club suite of products is so perfect for the golfers in your life. I really love this suite. This card has enough layers and surfaces to show off lots in the suite. I really love this greeting too.

My One Little Word for 2018

I'm pretty sure this is my 10th year of choosing a word for the year, thanks to the fabulous inspiration of Ali Edwards and her One Little Word concept. I have done Ali's workshop a couple of times during those 10 years and love the insight it has given me into the process of letting my word guide me throughout the year.

I've had some fabulous words over the years, nourish, thrive, be, shine and many more. I love how the words are there to keep me focused and grounded throughout the year, and I have got to the stage where I look forward to the space between Christmas and New Year, to be able to mull over my word and chat with friends about it.

For 2018, I have chosen ALIGN as my One Little Word.

Align

I chose this word for many reasons.

  • I aspire to feeling self-aligned and examining more of what that means for me on an emotional, spiritual and physical level.
  • Alignment = authenticity to me. Another area I really want to delve into this year.
  • I want to continue to align myself with positive optimistic people who are 'doers' and who support my personal and professional growth;
  • I want to be able to check in on a regular basis to make sure that my day to day / week to week actions are aligned with my goals and intentions for 2018. I find I sometimes get off track, or spend too much time on things that aren't my primary focus, so I hope this will help me to stay focused a bit more on both personal and work intentions;
  • I want to align more with nature - gardening, walking in nature, grounding;
  • I want to always check in that the choices I make are aligned with my personal values. Being fair and acting with integrity are super important to me, so this is a great 'check-in' when I'm planning things.
  • I really want to make sure my goals and intentions for my Stampin' Up! work are are aligned with my 'why'. Things just feel right when they are, and I definitely enjoy my work life so much more.

I am sure there are many more reasons and I am sure they will show their faces throughout the year. I'm looking forward to that.

My One Little Word seems to already be weaving it's magic. Quite unintentionally, I suggested to my husband and kids today that we go for a drive, as it was a lovely day in Melbourne. We headed down towards Warburton, and ended up at the Redwood Forest in East Warburton. It wasn't until I got home and was looking at my photos that I realised how perfect my photos were for the first day of my ALIGN year.

The Redwood Forest was so beautiful with the light shining through the tree tops and the carpet like forest floor. I took my shoes off and grounded myself in that beautiful setting.

Have you got a word for 2018? I'd love to hear your word, and I'd love to connect to more people who choose an annual word. I'll be making my word mostly visible on my Instagram and Facebook Page in 2018, so either hang out with me there, or leave me a comment here with a link to a post about your word if you have one.

Happy 2018,

Claire
