Sponged embossing card making technique on a 2021 Mothers day card.

Hello friends. Today I have a 2021 Mothers day card for you. A little early maybe, but I wanted to play with the Meadow Moments embossing folders and use the sponged embossing papercraft and card making technique. The soft colours I wanted to use were perfect for a Mothers Day card.

Here's how my card turned out.

Meadow Moments sponged embossing folder 2021 Mothers Day Card by Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

I started with embossing a piece of Basic White cardstock with one one of the two embossing folders in the Meadow Moments embossing folder pack. Using sponge daubers, I lightly sponged the raised bits. I used the dauber and Blushing Bride ink pad for the flowers, Mint Macaron for the butterflies and Soft Sea Foam for the stems and leaves. I also lightly sponged the white areas in between with Soft Sea Foam.

Next steps were to add a thin strip of Mint Macaron cardstock to the left side of this strip, and to adhere it to a Blushing Bride card base which had been embossed with the subtles 3D embossing folder. To finish my card off I embossed the Happy Mothers Day sentiment from the Strong Women stamp set in white embossing powder onto Mint Macaron cardstock. I cut the butterfly embellishment using the Butterfly Duo Punch, and a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock which I had also embossed with the Subtle 3D folder.

4 Tips to Use the Ink Stampin Up! Ink Blending Brushes on Patterned Paper

Hi crafters. In today's card I am following up with some more ink blending. This time on patterned paper. If you watched the video in the last post you will see this technique in action there too (I have also included the video in this post). In today's post, I show the completed card and share 4 ways to blend ink effectively on patterned paper using the newly released Stampin' Up! Blending Brushes. I have used the True Love Designer Series Paper from the 2020 January to June Mini Catalogue to blend the ink onto.

Stampin Up Blending Brushes with True Love DSP. 2021 handmade card by Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

The True Love Designer Series Paper is a really versatile paper pack for using with a range of techniques. I found the blending brushes blended the ink really nicely on this paper. I have used Melon Mambo and Calyso Coral for my ink colours.

Stampin Up True Love DSP.

Four Tips for using the Stampin' Up! Blending Brushes on Patterned Paper  (Video below)

In working with the blending brushes on patterned paper, I found these these tips to be helpful.

  1. Hold the area you are blending with your fingers of your other hand at the top and bottom, to keep the paper flat and taut while you are blending (it has a tendency to slide and crease otherwise).
  2. Start with the middle colour first - I find that works best and allows you to come back and blend over the joins of the two colours. If you are only using two colours I would start with the lightest first.
  3. Start blending in a circular motion off the page near the paper and work onto it, so you don't get a build up of ink in one spot.
  4. Choosing a light coloured pattern paper is going to give the best result. Black and white is perfect.

4 tips ink blending on patterned paper using Stampin Up blending brushes.

Here's the video again, to show you how I achieved the blending.

To put the card together, I added a Calypso Coral mat to the blended piece, and adhered one of the cut out fowers from the DSP at the top left (before I added the mat). The front of the Basic Black card is also embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing folder. My breeting (from Best Year stamp set) was stamped in Black Stazon onto a 3/4" strip of Basic White cardstock and the decorative ends were cut with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch.

I would definitely recommend adding the Stampin Up! Blending Brushes (a pack of 3 is just $21AUD) and the True Love Designer Series Paper Pack to your next order.

Dragonfly Birthday Card with Ink Blended Background Video Tutorial

Hello friends. Today I have a card I created over the weekend while having a play with the new Stampin' Up! ink blending brushes that were introduced in the 2021 January to June mini catalogue. I've created a birthday card using the Dragonfly Garden bundle (which includes the Dragonflies Punch).

Stampin Up Dragonfly Garden birthday card. 2021 Card by Claire daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

I'm really happy how this card turned out. I found the blending brushes GREAT to use. This wasn't my first experience with blending brushes as I had purchased another brand prior to Stampin' Up! releasing their own. The Stampin' Up! ones are a great price point in comparison (quite a bit cheaper) and comparable (if not better) in both ease of use and result on our Basic White cardstock. I was able to get a really great smoothly blended result.

My blended colours are Soft Sea Foam (centre), Pool Party (sky) and Mint Macaron (lower third). I also used Just Jade cardstock for my base card and one layer of the dragonflies, and Shaded Spruce as my ink colour for the stamped dragonfly.

Dragonfly colour

I have a video to show you how I created the blended ink background.

Here's the measurements, and steps for the rest of this card:

  1. The blended background piece is 9cm x 13.3cm, and the Pool Party mat layer is 9.4cm x 13.7cm. The base card is a standard C6 top folding card in Just Jade.
  2. Once I made the background with the blending brushes, I used Mint Macaron ink to overstamp the foliage, and Pool Party ink to stamp the dragonflies in the top right hand corner.
  3. I stamped two dragonflies from the Dragonfly garden stamp set using Shaded Spruce ink. One was stamped onto Just Jade cardstock, and one was stamped onto Whisper White cardstock.
  4. I punched these Dragonflies out with the Dragonflies punch, along with one of the smaller butterflies in Just Jade.
  5. I adhered the Just Jade Dragonflies directly to the blended background using Stampin' Seal.
  6. I coloured the other Dragonfly in with light Mint Macaron Stampin' Blends and then adhered it over the large Just Jade Dragonfly with Dimensionals (just in the centre so the wings can be lifted a bit). I then added a few Rhinestone Jewels in the centre.
  7. I adhered this whole piece to the Pool Party layer with Stampin' Seal, and then tied a double layer of linen thread around the bottom (about 2 cm from the base), tying in a bow on the left side.
  8. I wanted this card for a birthday card, so I have the birthday sentment stamp in Peaceful Moments. I stamped that in basic black onto Basic White, and the overstamped the foliage stamp in Mint Macaron (stamped off once). I cut the greeting out with one of the Tasteful Labels dies whch has fine stitching around the outside.

Lots of Heart Valentines Card

Hey crafters.  Today I have a handmade Valentines day card using the new 2021 Stampin' Up! Lots of Heart stamp set. It would also be suitable for a wedding, anniversary or engagement card.

Stampin Up handmade card using new 2021 Lots of Heart stamp set. Has 3 overlapping punched coloured hearts and a watercolour background. By Claire Daly Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

I was inspired with this summery colour combination that was used in the Sweet Little Valentines cards and more in the 2021 January to June Mini Catalogue. I have used Pool Party as the watercolour wash, and then Melon Mambo, Petal Pink and Calypso Coral for the hearts. I love the variety of patterns that the hearts can be stamped in.

Heart Colour
I have used our new Opal Rounds embellishments from the 2021 January to June Mini Catalogue to embellish my card, and a white heat embossed sentiment on basic black cardstock. I didn't have the coordinating dies for this stamp set, so I used the smooth edged heart punch from the Heart Punch Pack. I managed to make it fit pretty well, with just needing to cut a teeny bit out with paper snips at the top centre of the heart.
