Stampin' Up! Masculine Card with Mountain Air with Cajun Craze

Colour Creations 2021 to 2022 logo

Hello friends. This week the Colour Creations ladies in the Art with Heart Team are playing with Cajun Craze. This is one of my least used Stampin' Up! colours, so it definitely was a challenge. Once I got the idea though, away I went.

I wanted to create a card for a very sick relative overseas. We enjoyed time together on their trip to Australia several years ago, so I wanted to come up with a card that let him know I was thinking of him at this very hard time, and that perhaps reminded him a little of Australia. Cajun Craze definitely is the colour of some of the Australian outback, and the Kimberley region especially.

I have used the Mountain Air stamp set from the 2021 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, to create several layers of mountains by stamping in Early Espresso onto Cajun Craze and die cutting with the coordinating Majestic Mountain dies. I love the dimension you can achieve with these two products. The trees are from the same stamp set and dies, and my greeting from the Quiet Meadow stamp set.

I adhered these pieces onto a layer of shimmery white which I had applied ink using my blending brushes. The lowest area near the mountain range is Calypso Coral, then I blended in some Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, and lastly some Misty Moonlight at the very top and edges. The birds from the stamp set were stamped in Misty Moonlight too.

I then mounted this piece onto some Cajun Craze cardstock, and an Early Espresso base card. I'm really pleased how this card turned out. There was a lot of love put into it, and I think it looks quite peaceful. You can view all of the products I have used in this card using the links at the end of the post.

Stampin' Up! Birds Eye View Birthday Card Idea

Good morning friends. Today I am sharing a cute birthday card using a new stamp set in the 2023-2024 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue called Birds Eye View. This stamp set is SO cute!

Stampin Up Birds Eye View birthday card by Claire Daly, Stampin' Up Demonstrator Australia

I created this card to demonstrate a colour combination using Lemon Lolly, one of the new Stampin' Up! core colours introduced in May 2023. Here's a look at the colour combination I used.

Stampin Up 2023 Colour / Color combination Lemon Lolly, Bubble Bath and Pool Party

I used a piece of the Bubble Bath monochrome patterned 6x6" DSP from the Subtles pack as my first layer and then added a piece of Basic White cardstock with a lightly blended background in Balmy Blue.

Stampin Up Birds Eye View

I stamped the bird and balloon in Memento Black once onto the sponged background, and again onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock. I coloured the bird on the scrap paper in Lemon Lolly Stampin' Blends, and the balloon in Bubble Bath blends. I then fussy cut the bird and balloon and adhered them with Dimensionals over the images I had stamped on the sponged background. Finally I stamped the birthday sentiment from Inked and Tiled stamp set (this is my favourite sentiment set right now), and embellished with some of the white sequins from the Adhesive Backed Sequin Trio.

Stampin Up Birds Eye View
With lots of different cute birds in the Birds Eye View stamp stamp set, you could quickly make up lots of different handmade birthday cards.

How to Stamp and Add Colour on an Ink Blended Background

Hello friends. Today I have a bit of a stamping technique themed post, using ink blending and the Stampin' Up! Perched in a Tree stamp set. I want to show you how I stamped and added colour over a darkish ink blended background. I have also used the new Countryside corners bundle for my stamped layer shape and the border.

I made a heap of blended backgrounds this week in one of my Create and Connect Zoom stamping sessions with my team members. Each month we get together 1-2 times to stamp together and catch up on everyone's lives. It's a really lovely social team activity and we all work on our own projects. My team love the opportunity to make and build new crafty friendships, and to see what others are creating.

Stampin Up Perched in a Tree coloured on an ink blended background by Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

Step by Step Instructions

I started with creating an ink blended background using my Stampin' Up! blending brushes on a piece of Basic White cardstock. I have a different blending brush for each colour so I don't need to clean them between use. For this background I used from top to bottom: Soft Sea Foam, Lost Lagoon, Basic Gray and then a bit of Memento Black on the bottom. I usually add the top and bottom colours (although in this case I started with the Basic Gray on the bottom) and then add in the third colour to blend together. I created a VIDEO a while back showing how I use the blending brushes.

Once I had finished blending, I stamped the bird and branch image from the Stampin' Up! Perched in a Tree stamp set in black Stazon onto the blended background.

Instructions 1

Next I used a Water Painter to 'colour' in the bird and branch, which essentially lifts ink from that area of the image. The more water you add, the more the colour lifts.

The next step in the process is to add some colour back. I used my Water Painters to add some Blueberry Bushel ink and some Pebbled Path.

After this step I also added some white and Early Espresso using Watercolour Pencils (from Assortment 1).

For the next step I cut the inked panel out using the second largest Countryside Corners dies. I mounted this (with Dimensionals) onto the largest Countryside Corners Die in Gray Granite. Before I cut this one, I stamped the Countryside Corners stamp set onto it in Pebbled Path (this was really easy to do as the stamp is just one piece, and the dies cut out whichever sections you want so you can make a solid shape or a frame with or without the border stamping).

To finish my card I stamped a sentiment from Inked and Tiled and cut it out with the Double Oval punch. This is mounted with Dimensionals. My final step was to add a linen thread bow at the top of the card (secured with a Mini Glue Dot).

This Birthday Piggy and Playful Piggy Dies for the Perfect Partners Promotion

I was excited to see that This Birthday Piggy was one of the 6 stamp sets which have new die sets available for purchase during September. I had already purchased the stamp set as I loved it when it came out in the 2022 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue. I loved the crisp outline images which are versatile for colouring and paper piecing and I also thought it was a great set for children's birthday cards. It has great sentiments too, in a really nice font. The dies just elevate that versatility even further. In addition to outline dies (and this set would have been tricky to fussy cut imo), the dies include a cute cart, extra gift, flowers, leaves, grass, a banner and the cutest little bandana for the pig!

You can purchase the dies by themselves as I did, or purchase the dies and stamp set together for a 10% discount. Browse all the 6 die sets available during the Perfect Partners promotion HERE.

Here's a look at the This Birthday Piggy stamp set and the Playful Piggy Dies. (Click on the image to see it larger)

Here's a card I have made with this bundle.

Stampin Up This Birthday Piggy birthday card by Claire Daly, Australia

For this one I have blended some Pool Party ink onto Shimmery White cardstock and then coloured the image with Stampin' Blends. I used S1000 from the Neutrals Collection Stampin Blends for the pig, with some light Flirty Flamingo in the ears and on the nose. I used Mint Macaron for the candle and balloon, and Daffodil Delight for the candle flame. The cake is coloured with both shades of Flirty Flamingo. For the additional die cuts I have used crumb cake for the wagon, Mint Macaron for the gift and Flirty Flamingo for the banner and ribbon on the gift. I love the embossing detail from the dies, especially on the cute banner!

Stampin' Up! Decorated with Happiness 2022 Christmas Card

Hello friends,

I'm back sharing a 2022 Christmas card with you using the Decorated with Happiness bundle from the 2022 July to December Mini Catalogue.

Stampin Up Decorated with Happiness 2022 Christmas Card by Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator, Melbourne Australia.

My card base is Blackberry Bliss, and my centre panel is Shimmery White with Soft Succulent ink blended in an ombre pattern. Before I adhered the blended cardstock to the cardfront, I:

  • Stamped some of the pine leaf pattern on the edges of the Blackberry Bliss cardstock, using Blackberry Bliss ink; and
  • Added a length of scalloped gold foil either side. I die cut this using one of the dies in the Penned Flowers Dies (part of the Hand Penned bundle).

I have cut two of the pine branches (from the Decorated with Pine Dies) in Soft Succulent and adhered them to the blended cardstock (you can either do this by using adhesive sheets, or you can also add a bit of Multipurpose Glue to a silicon sheet and use a sponge dauber to add it to the back of the die cut).

Stampin Up Decorated with Happiness 2022 Christmas Card by Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator, Melbourne Australia

Next I die cut 2 of the baubles in three different papers - Blackberry Bliss cardstock, Very Vanilla Glimmer paper (in the Glimmer Specialty paper pack) and in Gold Foil. I used the adhesive sheets on the back when I cut these baubles. I adhered the Blackberry Bliss ones to the card first, and then filled in the extra pieces alternating between the glimmer paper and the gold foil. For the bows, I have used some Gold and Vanilla Satin-Edged Ribbon (in the July to December Mini Catalogue) which I cut in half lengthways, and some Gold Metallic Trim (from the Simply Elegant Trim Combo). I just made a bow out of both lengths together.

To finish my card, I stamped the greeting from the Decorated with Happiness Stamp Set, in Blackberry Bliss ink. My embellishments are the 2021-2023 InColor Opal Rounds.

Stampin' Up! Cottage Rose birthday card with ink blending.

Hello friends. Happy Monday!

Today I wanted to share with you a birthday card I made using the Abigail Rose suite in the 2022 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue. It's such a pretty suite!

Stampin Up Cottage Rose / Abigail Rose 2022 Birthday Card

The suite comprises of the Cottage Rose Bundle, the Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper and the Natural Finish Ribbon. You can either buy the items together in a suite, or individually. Browse the suite and it's components HERE in my online store.

Suite

I really love the DSP designs in this suite. The ledger design is a a great neutral, and it was easy to add some additional colour to the rose patterned design by using my blending brushes and some Blushing Bride ink. I have used Crumb Cake as the base card, and Blushing Bride under the sentiment layer.

Stampin Up Cottage Rose / Abigail Rose 2022 Birthday Card

The ribbon in this suite is GORGEOUS. It's a really soft neutral that coordinates perfectly with our linen thread and many of our neutral cardstocks. I have used the Elegant Faceted Gems to add some additional embellishment.
