Stampin' Up! Beautiful You and Lemon Lime Twist with Embossing Paste

It was a grey drizzly day in Melbourne today (it's late winter here), so I needed a bright card to show you.

I think this one works! I find myself coming back often to use this happy image from the Beautiful You stamp set. It's applicable to so many different cards  I think, but especially congratulations cards.

My colour combination is Lemon Lime Twist and Pacific Point. I added some texture to the Lemon Lime Twist layer by using some embossing paste coloured with Lemon Lime Twist re-inker, and then used the diamond mask from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks. My image is coloured using the watercolour pencils. I used a greeting for the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set which fits beautifully in the Classic Label Punch.

Using the Stampin' Up! Embossing Paste

I tried out the new embossing paste from the 2017 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue last weekend. There are 3 key products in this range:

The masks can be used for spongeing, but in this case when combined with the Embossing Paste and smoothed over with the Palette Knives, you get a lovely raised effect which adds dimension and texture to your papercraft projects. It's super simple to use (just make sure you have a plastic mat) and I was surprised how quickly it dried. I use my Silicone Craft Sheet to create colours by adding a drop or two of re-inker to 3/4 - 1 teaspoon of Embossing Paste (that usually covers a couple of cards. I use the Palette Knives to mix on the Silcone Craft Sheet. There's a video at the end of the post which shows how this is done.

Here's a closer look at the four mask patterns you get in the Party Patterns Decorative masks pack.

Here's two of the cards I made. For this one I have used 2 drops of Powder Pink ink refill in about 1 teaspoon of embossing paste, and then sprinkled some gold glitter randomly over the top (while the embossing paste was still wet) and shook off the excess.

My stamp set is Happy Birthday Gorgeous which is a new set 2017 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue. I love the funky font on this set and it has so many other great greetings. The paper is Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper.

For this second card I have used the cloud mask and 1 drop of Soft Sky re-inker in about 3/4 teaspoon of Embossing Paste. I love the effect this gives for clouds. I have used the Lift Me Up stamp set and Up & Away Thinlits to complete my card. This is a nice colour combination to use with the new InColour Powder Pink.
