Stampin Up Snowflake Splendor Christmas Card with Inlaid Embossing

Hello friends. Today I have another Christmas card for you. It uses the Snowflake Splendor suite of products from the 2020 Stampin Up August to December Holiday Catalogue.

I love how this card turned out with the pastel colours. There isn't any stamping on this card; it's all punched, die cut or embossed. I have used the Inlaid Embossing technique on the main layer which creates texture and interest. Instructions are below (but it's so easy!).

I love the variation in colourin this Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper. This one I have used for the background looks like it has been created with sponging and inking. It's beautiful to create with.

Inlaid Embossing Technique Instructions

Inlaid embossing just refers to the pieces you add to the card, also being included in the embossing. For this card:

  1. Start with a piece of the Snowflake Splendor DSP 9.9cm x 14.2cm which I adhered to a piece of cardstock the same size for extra weight.
  2. Punch three pieces of coordinating Snowflake Splendor DSP, using the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch.
  3. Adhere these evenly across the centre of the card using glue or Stampin' Seal.
  4. Emoss this whole piece in the Winter Snow Embossing Folder.

Here's the piece before it was embossed.

and here is the piece after it was embossed  with the Winter Snow Embossing Folder to create the Inlaid Embossing.

After I had completed this layer, I sponged the edges in Misty Moonlight ink (using a sponge dauber) and then placed it onto a thin mat of Balmy Blue Cardstock, and onto a base card of Highland Heather.

Next I die cut the snowflakes in Balmy Blue Glimmer paper and Balmy Blue cardstock, using the So Many Snowflakes Dies, and popped one of the Blue Adhesive Backed Gems in the centre of each (they come in different sizes which suited my project). For the sentiment I used my Word Wishes dies and Purple Posy cardstock.

The Word Wishes Dies are a super versatile die set to own as you can create so many different die cut sentments. You can get even more sentiments when you combine it with the coordinating stamp set called A Wish for Everything. Here's a look at these two great products.

Wishes and Wonder Christmas Card using Inked Embossing Folder Technique.

Hello stamping friends.

Today I am back with a Christmas card using Wishes and Wonder bundle from the Stampin' Up! 2020 August to December Mini Catalogue (previously called the Holiday Catalogue). It also uses one of the pieces I made in my Inked Embossing Folder video in my last post.

Learn how to make a handmade 2020 Christmas card using Stampin' Up! products including Wishes and Wonder stamp set and coordinating dies and some of the newest 2020 Christmas patterned paper for cardmaking. Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

I have used the Evergreen Forest 3D embossing folder as the inked embossing folder piece on this card. I just LOVE this embossing folder for Christmas 2020. It's a 6x6" 3D Folder which gives you lots of embossing space. You can find the links to all the products I have used today, at the end of the post. I have used Gray Granite ink over Shimmery White cardstock on this piece. I have also used Gray Granite for my base card.

I've used two different Designer Series Papers on this card.  The first one is the Plaid Tidings DSP with lots of different coloured plaids. I love some of the bright bold ones, but today I have used the subtle Crumb Cake pattern.

Christmas 2020 cardmaking patterned paper. Plaid Tidings by Stampin' Up! 6x6" 48 sheet pad available in my online Stampin' Up! store in Australia.

The second Christmas patterned paper I have used is Trimming the Town. I particularly love the piece that has all of the Christmas sentiments in lots of languages. I have used this on the die cut label in the card. I adhered it to a piece of cardstock before die cutting to give some extra weight.

Christmas 2020 cardmaking patterned paper. Trimming the Town by Stampin' Up! 12 double sided 12x12" 48 sheet pad available in my online Stampin' Up! Store in Australia.I have coloured the gold embossed sleigh using the dark Cherry Cobbler and dark Real Red Stampin' Blends. The sentiment is stamped in Real Red, and the circle as well as the shape it's placed on are cut from the coordinating dies (as is the sleigh). To finish my card I have used the Wonderful Gem embellishments, and the Forever Greenery Trim combo.

Here's another look at the Wishes and Wonder Bundle. This is a great versatile bundle for 2020 and I have already made quite a few cards with it. You can find them linked at the end of the post.

Stampin' Up! Inked Embossing Folder Technique Video

Hello friends,

Today I have a Stampin' Up! technique video to share with you. It is a simple but really effective technique called Inked Embossing Folders. I have used the technique to create this birthday card using the Dandelions 3D embossing folder from the 2020-21 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue.

Stampin Up Inked Embossing Folder Technique Video by Claire Daly Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia. Uses Dandelions Embossing Folder 2020.

In the video I have also used two other embossing folders, to show different effects you can get. The other folders I used were the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder, and the Evergreen Forest 3D embossing folder. Stay tuned for some Stampin' Up! card ideas using those folders in the coming week.

To finish my card, I slightly offset a piece of Purple Posy cardstock, as the second layer on the Crumb Cake base card. I then added the Seaside Spray embossed piece on top.

Stampin Up Inked Embossing Folder Technique Video by Claire Daly Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia. Uses Dandelions Embossing Folder 2020.

I have added lots of texture (like I like to do) by trimming some Purple Posy scalloped linen trim and some Very Vanilla scalloped lace horizontally. I also added a double layer of linen thread and tied a bow.

Stampin' Up! Prized Peony Birthday Card coloured with Stampin' Blends

Hey friends,

Back with a birthday card today, using the beautiful Prized Peony stamp set coloured with Stampin' Blends.

Stampin Up Prized Peony Coloured with Stampin Blends by Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. 2020 Annual Catalogue

I didn't catch the light terribly well onto the card front on the full photo, so this one is probably a better indication of true colour.

Stampin' Up! Wishes and Wonder Bundle 2020 Christmas card and a technique to create definition on embossed cards.

Hello friends. Time for some Christmas since, now that the beautiful 2020 Stampin' Up! August to December Mini Catalogue has launched. Today I am playing with the Wishes and Wonder bundle (part of the Wonder of the Season suite) as well as the must have Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing folder. This folder is amazing, and I will detail the technique I used to create the extra dimension and interest on the dry embossing.

2020 Stampin Up Christmas Card using Wishes and Wonder stamp set / bundle. Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Melbourne Australia.

My base card is Mossy Meadow, and the embossed layer is Old Olive.

Technique: Creating Extra Dimension and Interest on the Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder

  1. I placed the piece of Old Olive cardstock in the 3D Evergreen Forest embossing folder. You can lightly spritz the cardstock first to get even greater impression. The folder is 6" x 6" so the whole cardfront will fit in there for cards in portrait or landscape orientation.
  2. Place your 3D embossing folder hinge first through your diet cut and embossing machine (I use the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine which gives a great result. You receive the plates and details of the 'sandwich' you need, with the machine).
  3. Remove from the folder and allow to dry completely if you have spritzed.
  4. Using a slightly darker ink (I used Mossy Meadow ) and a Stampin' Sponge, lightly sponge the ink onto the raised areas. Start light and gradually build up the colour. In some of the harder to reach pieces you could use a Sponge Dauber.

I love the effect this techniqu gives. It really shows off the beautiful forest scene depicted in the folder.

2020 Stampin Up Christmas Card using Wishes and Wonder stamp set / bundle. Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Melbourne Australia.

I diecut the reindeer from brass foil cardstock, and the circlular sentiment was stamped in Mossy Meadow (this was cut out using the circle die in the bundle). The strip of patterned paper is from 'Tis the Season DSP which is part of the Wonder of the Season. To finish the card I added some Wonderul Gems and a combination of ribbons and trims: Real Red Braided Linen Trim and Old Olive Gold Trimmed Satin Ribbon (part of the All The Trimmings ribbon combo), with a bit of gold cord from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo in the Annual Catalogue.
