Stampin' Up! Birds Eye View Birthday Card Idea

Good morning friends. Today I am sharing a cute birthday card using a new stamp set in the 2023-2024 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue called Birds Eye View. This stamp set is SO cute!

Stampin Up Birds Eye View birthday card by Claire Daly, Stampin' Up Demonstrator Australia

I created this card to demonstrate a colour combination using Lemon Lolly, one of the new Stampin' Up! core colours introduced in May 2023. Here's a look at the colour combination I used.

Stampin Up 2023 Colour / Color combination Lemon Lolly, Bubble Bath and Pool Party

I used a piece of the Bubble Bath monochrome patterned 6x6" DSP from the Subtles pack as my first layer and then added a piece of Basic White cardstock with a lightly blended background in Balmy Blue.

Stampin Up Birds Eye View

I stamped the bird and balloon in Memento Black once onto the sponged background, and again onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock. I coloured the bird on the scrap paper in Lemon Lolly Stampin' Blends, and the balloon in Bubble Bath blends. I then fussy cut the bird and balloon and adhered them with Dimensionals over the images I had stamped on the sponged background. Finally I stamped the birthday sentiment from Inked and Tiled stamp set (this is my favourite sentiment set right now), and embellished with some of the white sequins from the Adhesive Backed Sequin Trio.

With lots of different cute birds in the Birds Eye View stamp stamp set, you could quickly make up lots of different handmade birthday cards.

Colour Creations Week 34: Petal Pink

Colour Creations 2021 to 2022 logoWelcome to this week's Art with Heart Team Colour Creations Blog Hop. Today we are showcasing Petal Pink, a warm peach pink.

273293232_10161535103403098_6283669330474894085_n

Today's card is inspired by my water bottle! It's a lovely ombre pattern in shades of Petal Pink, Polished Pink and Melon Mambo.

Water bottle

Here is my card. I really love how it turned out, even though I kind of made it up as I went along!

Stampin Up Blessings of Home watercolour on blended background technique. Birthday card by Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Melbourne Australia.

My base card is Petal Pink, and the second layer is Petal Pink embossed with the Timeworn Type embossing folder.

Step by Step Instructions for Stamped Piece

  1. I started with a piece of Shimmery White cardstock and I used my blending brushes to lay down some Polished Pink ink in the bottom half, and Petal Pink ink in the top half, with lots of blending at the intersection.
  2. Next I blended a little Melon Mambo right at the bottom.
  3. I embossed the small floral image from Blessings of Home stamp set (in the 2022 January to June Mini Catalogue) in white over the top of the blended ink.
  4. Next I used a water painter (the fine tip one) to remove a lot of the ink colour from the leaves and petals. You just brush with water and it lightens the ink lots as it dries.
  5. Finally I added additional ink colours onto the image. I used Polished Pink and Rich Razzleberry for the flowers and Old Olive for the leaves.

To finish my card, I mounted the stamped piece onto a piece of Basic Gray cardstock, and tucked one of the Heart and Home Doilies underneath (the Basic Gray one). I adhered this with Dimensionals. I stamped the long birthday sentiment from the Blessings of Home stamp set in Basic Grey onto Shimmery white, cut it into strips and adhered with Stampin' Seal. I finished off with a double bow of Grey Granite bakers twine.

Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop: Rich Razzleberry

106922496_10159992931478098_1171141180047246582_n

I'm excited to have had some time on the weekend to create a card for our Art with Heart Stampin' Up! team's Colour Creations weekly blog hop. This week's colour is Rich Razzleberry, one of my favourite colours for many years. It's a beautiful deep purple pink colour, and a member of our Regals collection.

Rish Razzleberry

My card is a watercolour scene. I haven't played with the lovely Grace's Garden stamp set for so long, and Rich Razzleberry made me think of deep pink/purple  Hollyhock flowers, so that's what I went with. My scene is made on watercolour paper, with a Crumb Cake mat, and adhered with Dimensionals onto a Rich Razzleberry card base. The card base has also been embossed with the Subtle 3D embossing folder.

Stampin Up Graces Garden watercolour card by Claire Daly Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

I have used Rich Razzleberry, Gorgeous Grape and Bumblebee for my flower colours and Garden Green for the foliage. The gate is a combination of Crumb Cake and Soft Suede, the cat is watercoloured in Gray Granite and the bird is Early Espresso with a teeny bit of diluted Real Red on the tummy. For the foreground, I have used a watercolor wash of Sahara Sand and for the sky I have used my blending brushes and Pool Party for a very light sky effect.

To finish off my card, I have added some Linen Thread, and stamped the 'Hello' sentiment from Graces Garden stamp set, in Early Espresso. I also added a metallic heart brad that has been sitting in my scrapbooking stash for many many years.

Here's a closer look at the goregous Graces Garden stamp set from the 2020 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue. I love how you can use the images either individually or to make your own garden scene.

Stampin Up Forever and Always bundle and True Love Designer Series Paper. 2021 card idea by Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

The bundle features the Forever and Always stamp set, and the Always dies which contains two large die-cut words (Love and Always), some labels to cut out other words in the stamp set, and some dies which cut out the flowers and leaves in the set. There are also dies to cut out outlines for both of the large words and I have used one of these in today's project.

Stampin Up Forever and Always bundle and True Love Designer Series Paper. 2021 card idea by Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

The True Love Designer Series paper is a 12x12" 12 double sided paper pack entirely in black and white. It has floral images on one side, and patterns on the other. You can alter the paper by colouring it however you like: sponge brayering, using blending brushes or colouring with Stampin' Blends as I have have done with the flowers in this card. I have used a combination of Flirty Flamingo, Calypso Coral and Old Olive Stampin' Blends. They blend nicely on this paper, just make sure you have something underneath the paper when colouring to protect your work surface.

Bright Pink Stampin' Up! Poinsettia Petals 2020 Christmas Card

Let's brighten things up shall we? Today I have the beautiful Stampin' Up! Poinsettia Petals bundle from the 2020 Holiday (August to December Mini Catlogue) again, but I have brightened it up a notch or 10 with the colour.  You can view all the products I have used today using the image links at the end of the post.

Stampin Up Poinsettia Petals 2020 Christmas card in Magenta Madness. Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

Instructions to Watercolour this Poinsettia

  1. I embossed the three layers of the flower, in white embossing powder onto Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper
  2. I taped the watercolour sheet down with washi tape onto an old piece of cardboard for my work surface.
  3. Using a plastic paint palette, I added one drop of Magenta Madness reinker to one spot, 2 drops to another spot, and one drop of Blackberry bliss reinker to the third spot. I then added some water to each one (a couple of sprats of my spritzer did it). Test the colours to make sure they are the dilution you want.
  4. I spritzed the embossed images a couple of times from about 20cm away so the surface of the watercolour paper was wet.
  5. I started with the one drop of the Magenta Madness mix and  just dabbed onto the petals using my medium Waterpainter. The colour easily spreads without brushing because of all the water that is already added.
  6. I then added darker contrast with the 2 drop Magenta Madness, and finally some Blackberry Bliss in the centre and on the tips of some of the petals. If the ink isn't distributing as well as you would like, give another spray of the water spritzer.
  7. Let the inked images dry naturally and cut out with paper snips before layering together with dimensionals.
  8. After I assembeld the flower, I painted the visible bits of the flower with Wink of Stella for extra sparkle. It's hard to capture the sparkle in photos. but this one shows glimpses of it. It's much more sparkly in real life. Wink of Stella is such an affordable and easy way to give your projects sparkle.

Here's what it looked like when I was watercolouring:

Pink Poinsettia in progress

My base card is Smoky Slate, and my second layer is a piece of Fluid 100 watercolour aper with a very light waterwash of Smoky Slate, which I mounted on a thin mat of Rich Razzleberry cardstock. I worked out where I wanted the poinsettia to go, and then stamped ome of the foliage from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set directly onto the watercolour paper in Smoky Slate. I also did that with the greeting. I recommend using the Stamparatus Stamp Positioning Tool for this step, because it allows you to stamp over the top again in exactly the same spot if you don't get a good stamped impression the first time (which is often the case with watercolour paper because it is so porous).

For the other foliage, I die cut some in silver foil, and others I stamped in Rich Razzleberry and die cut with the coordinating dies in the bundle. For the centre of the Poinsettia, I coloured three of the large clear Rhinestone Jewels with my dark Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Blend, so they coordinated with the rest of the project. I also added a few of the smaller clear Rhinestone Jewels (one top left, two around the bottom right of the sentiment) to balance the layout.
