Stampin' Up! Masculine Card with Mountain Air with Cajun Craze

Colour Creations 2021 to 2022 logo

Hello friends. This week the Colour Creations ladies in the Art with Heart Team are playing with Cajun Craze. This is one of my least used Stampin' Up! colours, so it definitely was a challenge. Once I got the idea though, away I went.

I wanted to create a card for a very sick relative overseas. We enjoyed time together on their trip to Australia several years ago, so I wanted to come up with a card that let him know I was thinking of him at this very hard time, and that perhaps reminded him a little of Australia. Cajun Craze definitely is the colour of some of the Australian outback, and the Kimberley region especially.

I have used the Mountain Air stamp set from the 2021 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, to create several layers of mountains by stamping in Early Espresso onto Cajun Craze and die cutting with the coordinating Majestic Mountain dies. I love the dimension you can achieve with these two products. The trees are from the same stamp set and dies, and my greeting from the Quiet Meadow stamp set.

I adhered these pieces onto a layer of shimmery white which I had applied ink using my blending brushes. The lowest area near the mountain range is Calypso Coral, then I blended in some Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, and lastly some Misty Moonlight at the very top and edges. The birds from the stamp set were stamped in Misty Moonlight too.

I then mounted this piece onto some Cajun Craze cardstock, and an Early Espresso base card. I'm really pleased how this card turned out. There was a lot of love put into it, and I think it looks quite peaceful. You can view all of the products I have used in this card using the links at the end of the post.

Art With Heart Team 2021 Colour Creations Blog Hop: Basic Gray & In Symmetry Stamp Set

Colour Creations 2021 to 2022 logoHello friends. It's time to play with colour again. This week I am participating in the Art with Heart Team (my amazing Stampin' Up! team of awesomely creative ladies) Colour Creations blog hop. Each week we have a new colour, and this week it is a neutral, Basic Gray.  I have chosen to work with the In Symmetry stamp set and coordinating Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper. Both of these were new in the 2021 - 2022 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue.

Here's the first of the two cards I made. The strip of paper I used on the cutaway edge on the inside was my favourite piece from the Sweet Swmmetry DSP, so I used that as my colour inspiration for stamping and the frame. My flower is stamped in Flirty Flamingo and I have used Just Jade for the stem and leaves. The scalloped frame is from the Scalloped Contours Dies (the coordinating dies to the Colour and Contour stamp set). This is die cut in Bumblebee. This stamp set lends itself to very graphis design, so this dotty embossing folder was perfect to give some texture to the Basic Gray front of the card. It's one of the two folders in the Checks & Dots Embossing Folder.

To add some dimension and extra interest to my flower, I stamped an additional layer and fussy cut so I could pop that up with Dimensionals. To finish my card I just needed some Rhinestone Jewels and a Basic Gray sentiment. I really love this 'hey friend' sentiment which is part of the In Symmetry stamp set.

My second card uses the same sheet of DSP, but I have stamped the larger flower (Flirty Flamingo) and leaves (Just Jade), and made the frame Basic Gray.

This time I stamped my greeting in Night of Navy, to pick up that colour in the Sweet Symmetry DSP. Here's a closer look at the colours used today. Stampin Up 2021 colour / color combination. Basic Gray, Flirty Flamingo, Just Jade, Bumble Bee and Night of Navy

Colour Creations Showcase Week 48: So Saffron

106922496_10159992931478098_1171141180047246582_n

Hello friends. I'm finding myself with a little more creative time at the moment, so I am excited to be able to participate in some of the creative challenges with my Art with Heart team girls. This week's colour challenge is So Saffron, a very muted yellow and to be honest not one I have created with much in the last year.

Here is my card. I chose to use the beautiful new Hand-Penned Petals bundle. By stamping off (stamping once on scrap paper and then onto your card without reinking) the Polished Pink and Soft Succulent once each, I came up with a soft colour combination using So Saffron.

Here's the colour combination if you want to Pin It for future reference.

Stampin Up Color Combination 2021 InColors. Polished Pink, Soft Succulent, So Saffron and Basic Gray

One of the things I LOVE about this new bundle is it's designed for the stamping to be imperfect! I love the fresh vintage look you get when you stamp the solid colours for the leaves and flowers, and they don't quite fit perfectly. This really suits my style of stamping. I stamped the flowers and the sentiment in Basic Gray to tie in with the softer colour combination.

I have used the scalloped edge die from the coordinating Penned Flower Dies to create the left side edging. The flowers are two of the largest flower bunch, placed together. Here's a look at the Hand-Penned suite. You can buy the suite together (which includes 10% discount on the bundle), the bundle with a 10% discount, or individual components of the suite. All the product links for today's project are at the end of the post.

I have used a couple of other new products on my card too. My sentiment is from a great new stamp set with 11 sentiments, called Inspired Thoughts. I really love the font in this set. I have also used a great new die set called Encirled in Beauty, and there is just a peek of one of the decorative circle shapes poppng out unter the sentiment. This is going to be one of my favourite die sets for sure.

These are the new Encircled in Beauty Dies. The largest die in the set is 9.8 x 9.8cm, so they are perfectly sized for card fronts.

Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop: Rich Razzleberry

106922496_10159992931478098_1171141180047246582_n

I'm excited to have had some time on the weekend to create a card for our Art with Heart Stampin' Up! team's Colour Creations weekly blog hop. This week's colour is Rich Razzleberry, one of my favourite colours for many years. It's a beautiful deep purple pink colour, and a member of our Regals collection.

Rish Razzleberry

My card is a watercolour scene. I haven't played with the lovely Grace's Garden stamp set for so long, and Rich Razzleberry made me think of deep pink/purple  Hollyhock flowers, so that's what I went with. My scene is made on watercolour paper, with a Crumb Cake mat, and adhered with Dimensionals onto a Rich Razzleberry card base. The card base has also been embossed with the Subtle 3D embossing folder.

I have used Rich Razzleberry, Gorgeous Grape and Bumblebee for my flower colours and Garden Green for the foliage. The gate is a combination of Crumb Cake and Soft Suede, the cat is watercoloured in Gray Granite and the bird is Early Espresso with a teeny bit of diluted Real Red on the tummy. For the foreground, I have used a watercolor wash of Sahara Sand and for the sky I have used my blending brushes and Pool Party for a very light sky effect.

To finish off my card, I have added some Linen Thread, and stamped the 'Hello' sentiment from Graces Garden stamp set, in Early Espresso. I also added a metallic heart brad that has been sitting in my scrapbooking stash for many many years.
