Stampin' Up! Hey Birthday Chick Birthday Card

Hey friends. Today I have a fun card for the chook / hen lovers. It's a birthday card using the Hey Birthday Chick stamp set from the 2021 January to June mini catalogue.

This Hey Birthday Chick stamp set is in the January to June Mini Catalogue. Since the catalogue was published, coordinating dies have been produced, so you can either purchase the stamp set alone or as a bundle with a 10% saving.

Find all the Hey Chick products HERE in the Online Store.

You will also notice there is another bundle in the same section called Hey Chick. This stamp set is one that was released for Saleabration in 2017, and dies have just been released that coordinate with it. If you already have the stamp set, you can just buy the dies alone if you are interested.

Here's the steps I took to create this card:

  1. I cut a base C6 top folding portrait orientation card from an A4 sheet cut vertically and folded with a bone folder.
  2. I next cut a second layer of Basic White which was 10cm x 14.3cm.
  3. I created a blended area using Coastal Cabana ink and my blending brushes (LOVE these new brushes).
  4. My chicken is watercoloured (on Fluid 100 Watercolour paper) in Melon Mambo, Coastal Cabana and Bumblebee. I cut out the image with the Birthday Chick dies.
  5. I die cut the sentiment from Birthday Chick, in Bumblebee cardstock, and stamped the additional sentiment in Coastal Cabana.
  6. Finally I added some of the Coastal Cabana Artistry Blooms sequins.
  7. The stamped layer is then attached to a standard C6 card using Dimensionals.

Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop: Rich Razzleberry

106922496_10159992931478098_1171141180047246582_n

I'm excited to have had some time on the weekend to create a card for our Art with Heart Stampin' Up! team's Colour Creations weekly blog hop. This week's colour is Rich Razzleberry, one of my favourite colours for many years. It's a beautiful deep purple pink colour, and a member of our Regals collection.

Rish Razzleberry

My card is a watercolour scene. I haven't played with the lovely Grace's Garden stamp set for so long, and Rich Razzleberry made me think of deep pink/purple  Hollyhock flowers, so that's what I went with. My scene is made on watercolour paper, with a Crumb Cake mat, and adhered with Dimensionals onto a Rich Razzleberry card base. The card base has also been embossed with the Subtle 3D embossing folder.

I have used Rich Razzleberry, Gorgeous Grape and Bumblebee for my flower colours and Garden Green for the foliage. The gate is a combination of Crumb Cake and Soft Suede, the cat is watercoloured in Gray Granite and the bird is Early Espresso with a teeny bit of diluted Real Red on the tummy. For the foreground, I have used a watercolor wash of Sahara Sand and for the sky I have used my blending brushes and Pool Party for a very light sky effect.

To finish off my card, I have added some Linen Thread, and stamped the 'Hello' sentiment from Graces Garden stamp set, in Early Espresso. I also added a metallic heart brad that has been sitting in my scrapbooking stash for many many years.

Here's a closer look at the goregous Graces Garden stamp set from the 2020 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue. I love how you can use the images either individually or to make your own garden scene.

4 Tips to Use the Ink Stampin Up! Ink Blending Brushes on Patterned Paper

Hi crafters. In today's card I am following up with some more ink blending. This time on patterned paper. If you watched the video in the last post you will see this technique in action there too (I have also included the video in this post). In today's post, I show the completed card and share 4 ways to blend ink effectively on patterned paper using the newly released Stampin' Up! Blending Brushes. I have used the True Love Designer Series Paper from the 2020 January to June Mini Catalogue to blend the ink onto.

Stampin Up Blending Brushes with True Love DSP. 2021 handmade card by Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

The True Love Designer Series Paper is a really versatile paper pack for using with a range of techniques. I found the blending brushes blended the ink really nicely on this paper. I have used Melon Mambo and Calyso Coral for my ink colours.

Stampin Up True Love DSP.

Four Tips for using the Stampin' Up! Blending Brushes on Patterned Paper  (Video below)

In working with the blending brushes on patterned paper, I found these these tips to be helpful.

  1. Hold the area you are blending with your fingers of your other hand at the top and bottom, to keep the paper flat and taut while you are blending (it has a tendency to slide and crease otherwise).
  2. Start with the middle colour first - I find that works best and allows you to come back and blend over the joins of the two colours. If you are only using two colours I would start with the lightest first.
  3. Start blending in a circular motion off the page near the paper and work onto it, so you don't get a build up of ink in one spot.
  4. Choosing a light coloured pattern paper is going to give the best result. Black and white is perfect.

4 tips ink blending on patterned paper using Stampin Up blending brushes.

Here's the video again, to show you how I achieved the blending.

To put the card together, I added a Calypso Coral mat to the blended piece, and adhered one of the cut out fowers from the DSP at the top left (before I added the mat). The front of the Basic Black card is also embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing folder. My breeting (from Best Year stamp set) was stamped in Black Stazon onto a 3/4" strip of Basic White cardstock and the decorative ends were cut with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch.

I would definitely recommend adding the Stampin Up! Blending Brushes (a pack of 3 is just $21AUD) and the True Love Designer Series Paper Pack to your next order.
