Stampin' Up! Perched in A Tree 2022 Christmas Card

Hello friends.

It feels like ages since I have blogged, but in reality it's only been a week. It was production week at my son's high school last week, and he had a minor lead, along with my eldest (now 2 years post high school) was the technical director for the show, so of course I had to attend every show! Then I managed to pick up a respiratory bug (thankfully not Covid) that has hit me hard the last 3 days. Bring on the sunshine I say (in Australia we are in the last month of winter).

I do have plenty of cards I 'prepared earlier' and have yet to share on my blog though.

I made this Christmas card for my subscriber tutorials last week. It features the new Perched in a Tree bundle from the Stampin' Up! July to December Mini Catalogue.

I used the dies in the bundle to create a mask, and then blended some Gray Granite ink to create the background.

I then ran the whole piece through the Timber 3D Embossing Folder (choose this folder as free gift with a $90 order during Saleabration which ends on 31st August). You can see all the Saleabration choices currently available HERE.

The branch and the bird have been water coloured using ink from my ink pad lids, and Water Painters. I used Gray Granite for the branch, and Gray Granite, Basic Gray and Blackberry Bliss for the bird.

I really loved how this Christmas card turned out. The Perched in a Tree bundle is gorgeous, and you can even the earn the dies in the bundle (called the Aspen Tree Dies) as a free gift with a $180 spend (before postage) during Saleabration which ends on August 31st. You can see all the Saleabration choices currently available HERE.

I hope you like today's card. You can find all of the products I have used in my online store, or the paper copy of the July to December Mini Catalogue. You can either order online, or direct with me via email, phone or text (you can read about three ways to shop with me HERE).  When you shop online with me in Australia, and use the monthly Host Code, you also qualify for a small thank you gift mid the month after your purchase. Here's the shop link (individual product links at the end of the post), and this month's host code.

Colour Creations Week 34: Petal Pink

Colour Creations 2021 to 2022 logoWelcome to this week's Art with Heart Team Colour Creations Blog Hop. Today we are showcasing Petal Pink, a warm peach pink.

273293232_10161535103403098_6283669330474894085_n

Today's card is inspired by my water bottle! It's a lovely ombre pattern in shades of Petal Pink, Polished Pink and Melon Mambo.

Here is my card. I really love how it turned out, even though I kind of made it up as I went along!

My base card is Petal Pink, and the second layer is Petal Pink embossed with the Timeworn Type embossing folder.

Step by Step Instructions for Stamped Piece

  1. I started with a piece of Shimmery White cardstock and I used my blending brushes to lay down some Polished Pink ink in the bottom half, and Petal Pink ink in the top half, with lots of blending at the intersection.
  2. Next I blended a little Melon Mambo right at the bottom.
  3. I embossed the small floral image from Blessings of Home stamp set (in the 2022 January to June Mini Catalogue) in white over the top of the blended ink.
  4. Next I used a water painter (the fine tip one) to remove a lot of the ink colour from the leaves and petals. You just brush with water and it lightens the ink lots as it dries.
  5. Finally I added additional ink colours onto the image. I used Polished Pink and Rich Razzleberry for the flowers and Old Olive for the leaves.

To finish my card, I mounted the stamped piece onto a piece of Basic Gray cardstock, and tucked one of the Heart and Home Doilies underneath (the Basic Gray one). I adhered this with Dimensionals. I stamped the long birthday sentiment from the Blessings of Home stamp set in Basic Grey onto Shimmery white, cut it into strips and adhered with Stampin' Seal. I finished off with a double bow of Grey Granite bakers twine.

I hope you like today's card. Now it's time to check out what the rest of today's participants from the Art with Heart team have been making with Petal Pink. Next up we have the lovely Diane Furniss.

Five Quick and Easy Stampin' Up! Butterfly Brilliance Cards, each with a different background.

Hello friends. Today I wanted to showcase the early release Butterfly Brilliance bundle. It will be in the new 2021/22 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, but is available to purchase now which is exciting!

View all these products HERE in my online store.

I wanted to make a quick set of 5 cards, so I cut a piece 6x6" DSP pieces into 5 strips (each one ended up being 13.3cm or 5&3/16" x 3cm or 1&3/16") and then added different backgrounds. I used the Butterfly Bijou DSP which is now sadly sold out, but you could substitute any DSP.

Stampin Up Butterfly Brilliance Quick and Easy handmade card by Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator, Melbourne Australia.

For some of the cards I left the strips of DSP straight. On others I rounded the top left corner and bottom right corner with the Detailed Trio Punch.

Here's a look at the Butterfly Brilliance Bundle.

Here are the five different backgrounds I used on the Bermuda Bay base cards.

Left to right we have:

  1. Scripty 3D Embossing Folder
  2. Subtle 3D Embossing Folder
  3. Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder
  4. The Butterfly Brilliance stamp in Bermuda Bay ink stamped off once
  5. The Butterfly Brilliance stamp in Bermuda Bay ink NOT stamped off

5 quick and easu backgrounds for Stampin Up handmade cards.

For three of the cards I attached a die cut butterfly which I had also used the detailed die on. The butterflies were stamped in Magenta Madness ink onto Magenta Madness cardstock before die cutting. You can see all of the different ways to coordinate this bundle in my video below.

Sponged embossing card making technique on a 2021 Mothers day card.

Off White Clean and Simple Email Sign Up Instagram Post (940 x 630 px) (1)

Hello friends. Today I have a 2021 Mothers day card for you. A little early maybe, but I wanted to play with the Meadow Moments embossing folders and use the sponged embossing papercraft and card making technique. The soft colours I wanted to use were perfect for a Mothers Day card.

Here's how my card turned out.

Meadow Moments sponged embossing folder 2021 Mothers Day Card by Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

I started with embossing a piece of Basic White cardstock with one one of the two embossing folders in the Meadow Moments embossing folder pack. Using sponge daubers, I lightly sponged the raised bits. I used the dauber and Blushing Bride ink pad for the flowers, Mint Macaron for the butterflies and Soft Sea Foam for the stems and leaves. I also lightly sponged the white areas in between with Soft Sea Foam.

Next steps were to add a thin strip of Mint Macaron cardstock to the left side of this strip, and to adhere it to a Blushing Bride card base which had been embossed with the subtles 3D embossing folder. To finish my card off I embossed the Happy Mothers Day sentiment from the Strong Women stamp set in white embossing powder onto Mint Macaron cardstock. I cut the butterfly embellishment using the Butterfly Duo Punch, and a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock which I had also embossed with the Subtle 3D folder.

4 Tips to Use the Ink Stampin Up! Ink Blending Brushes on Patterned Paper

Off White Clean and Simple Email Sign Up Instagram Post (940 x 630 px) (1)

Hi crafters. In today's card I am following up with some more ink blending. This time on patterned paper. If you watched the video in the last post you will see this technique in action there too (I have also included the video in this post). In today's post, I show the completed card and share 4 ways to blend ink effectively on patterned paper using the newly released Stampin' Up! Blending Brushes. I have used the True Love Designer Series Paper from the 2020 January to June Mini Catalogue to blend the ink onto.

Stampin Up Blending Brushes with True Love DSP. 2021 handmade card by Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

The True Love Designer Series Paper is a really versatile paper pack for using with a range of techniques. I found the blending brushes blended the ink really nicely on this paper. I have used Melon Mambo and Calyso Coral for my ink colours.

Stampin Up True Love DSP.

Four Tips for using the Stampin' Up! Blending Brushes on Patterned Paper  (Video below)

In working with the blending brushes on patterned paper, I found these these tips to be helpful.

  1. Hold the area you are blending with your fingers of your other hand at the top and bottom, to keep the paper flat and taut while you are blending (it has a tendency to slide and crease otherwise).
  2. Start with the middle colour first - I find that works best and allows you to come back and blend over the joins of the two colours. If you are only using two colours I would start with the lightest first.
  3. Start blending in a circular motion off the page near the paper and work onto it, so you don't get a build up of ink in one spot.
  4. Choosing a light coloured pattern paper is going to give the best result. Black and white is perfect.

4 tips ink blending on patterned paper using Stampin Up blending brushes.

Here's the video again, to show you how I achieved the blending.

To put the card together, I added a Calypso Coral mat to the blended piece, and adhered one of the cut out fowers from the DSP at the top left (before I added the mat). The front of the Basic Black card is also embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing folder. My breeting (from Best Year stamp set) was stamped in Black Stazon onto a 3/4" strip of Basic White cardstock and the decorative ends were cut with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch.

I would definitely recommend adding the Stampin Up! Blending Brushes (a pack of 3 is just $21AUD) and the True Love Designer Series Paper Pack to your next order.
