Stampin' Up! Trimming the Tree 2022 Christmas Cards

Hey there friend.

Today I am sharing two Christmas cards I have made using the Stampin' Up! Trimming the Tree stamp set from the 2022-23 Annual Catalogue. This is a really traditional stamp set, so I have used traditional colours of reds, greens and gold.

I think I like the one with touches of red best (mainly because I messed the other one up, but more about that later). The DSP I have used is Boughs of Holly, and I have used Distressed Gold Specialty paper as an accent (LOVE this paper!).

I have embossed the sentiment and bow on top of the tree in gold, and added some sparkly Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels. The tree is stamped onto Shimmery White, and is stamped in three layers (the stamps are photopolymer so easy to line up). The base layer is Soft Succulent, then I have used Shaded Spruce as the next layer and embossed gold for the trim on the tree. For the basket / container at the base of the tree I have used Crumb Cake. I've used the Rectangle Stitched Dies and Stylish Shapes dies to cut shapes. The gold corner pieces were cut with the Very Best Trio Punch. These are actually corners I cut from the other card and I will link to a video below showing you what I mean.

For my second card, I have used the same background DSP (Boughs of Holly) but have just stuck to greens and golds.

My ink colours were Soft Succulent as the base tree, and then Evening Evergreen as the highlights. I've embossed some ornaments from the stamp set onto the tree in addition to the trim, and for the tree topper I have used a die cut star (from the Tree Lot Dies) with a Champagne Rhinestone inside.

I made a bit of a mistake in using the Very best Trio Punch in making this card. If you look closely at the corner pieces, you will see that there is a concave and outward curved section. If you just move the punch around the cardstock corners, you DON'T end up with a mirror image. I learnt in the process that you need to punch one side and then flip the cardstock to get a mirror image shape. If you are on Facebook, this short video shows you what I mean, and also shows you how I got the corner pieces to use on other projects.

Now I have got the hang of it, I love my new Very Best Trio Punch.

Stampin' Up! Cottage Rose Watercolour Birthday Card

Hello stamping friends.

As I mentioned in previous posts, it's World Watercolour Month  in July, so here's a watercolour birthday card for you using the Cottage Rose bundle from the Stampin Up 2022 Annual Catalogue.

The paper is the Abigail Rose DSP which is part of the same suite that includes the Cottage Rose bundle. It's called the Abigail Rose Suite, and you can find it on page 56/57 of the 2022 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue. The sentiment is from the same set. The embellishments I have added are Linen Thread and one of the Brushed Metallic Dots on the folded DSP corner.

For the watercolouring, I have used ink from the inside of my ink pads and Water Painters. I used Blushing Bride for the flower, Garden Green for the leaves and a bit of Crumb Cake around the other foliage poking out behind the rose.

My style of watercolouring is a messy, vintage look and I don't always stay within the lines. I like that though and it's less pressure so more relaxing! I did an in depth video some time ago showing my style of watercolouring, so have a look if you would like more information about what I do. I LOVE watercolouring. It's my favourite way to add colour to cards.

You can also view lots of other examples of my watercoloured cards HERE.

If you are interested in more card ideas using the Abigail Rose suite, I have a 5 card instant download PDF class available for $15AUD (approx $10-$11 USD on today's currency exchange rates). You can find my PDF Instant Download Classes HERE.

Stampin' Up! Happiness Abounds Watercolour Birthday Card

Hello friends.

Today I have a watercolour card for you, as it's World Watercolour Month. My birthday card uses the Happiness Abounds stamp set, which was new in the 2022 Annual Catalogue in May.

I've also used a couple of other new Annual Catalogue products: Hues of Happiness DSP, and the Fabulous Frames Dies. My flowers are embossed in white embossing powder onto Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper, and then water coloured using Water Painters and the ink inside the lid of my Polished Pink and Fresh Freesia ink pads. The leaves are water coloured the same way using Granny Apple Green ink pad.

My base card and frame are basic White cardstock, and I have stamped the sentiment from the Happiness Abounds stamp set in Black Stazon onto Basic White as well. I just chopped it in half to keep the dimensions of the card how I wanted. The embellishments I have used are the Polished Pink ones from the 2021-2023 InColor Opal Rounds from the Annual Catalogue.

Stampin' Up! have put together a great technique video showing seven different ways to add colour with watercolour. Links to the base watercolour products used in the video are shown at the bottom of the page.

Stampin' Up! Painted Posies Embossing Folder with Masked Artistically Inked Stamp Set

Hello friends.

Today I wanted to show you a beautiful new embossing folder from the 2022 Annual Catalogue. It's called Painted Posies and it's a 3D 6x6" folder. I have used it on this card.

Stampin Up Painted Posies embossing folder and Artistically Inked. Masking video tutorial. Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator, Melbourne Australia.

The pattern is so pretty and gives a crisp imprint on the Melon Mambo cardstock. I love how the embossing foliage and flowers climb up the card. Embossing is a great way to add a wow to a card without a lot of expense.

The stamped panel on this one is from Artistically Inked. The flower is stamped in Polished Pink and the leaves and sentiment in Old Olive. The die cut shape is from Stylish Shapes dies which are new this year. I used the masking technique, shown in the video below, to stamp the leaves behind the flower.

Here's a masking video I made recently, which shows 6 different masking techniques, and 5 cards, including this one.

Campology Masculine Birthday Card and a Video Tutorial with 6 Ways to Use the NEW Stampin' Up! Masking Paper

Hello stamping friends.

One of the new products included in the 2022 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue was masking paper. For those not familiar with masking paper, it does as the name suggests - masks off areas of your project where you don't want ink to go. You can do this with other things as well, but the benefit of this specialised masking paper is that it is super thin plus adhesive and it doesn't leave as much of a halo around the edge. It's also reusable, and really reasonably priced. It is $12.25AUD for 12 5x7" sheets. Find the masking paper on page 149 of the Annual catalogue, or HERE in my online store.

I've put together a video showing 6 different techniques to use the masking paper, and included lots of tips along the way. The video features 5 cards, and I will share one of them here first. You can see how I did the stamping for this project (and the other 4 cards) in the video which is included below.

As I wanted the tent to appear in front of the trees in this masculine birthday card, I stamped the tent first and then masked it off before I stamped the trees. I love this Campology stamp set and haven't used it nearly enough, so I am grateful it carried over to the new catalogue. To finish my card off, I have used some of the DSP and a die-cut from He's the Man Specialty DSP, along with some linen thread and Rustic Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots.
