Hydrangea Haven Bundle / Hydrangea Hill Suite 2021 Mother's Day Card

Hello crafty people :)

Today I have a Mother's Day card for you using the Hydrangea Hill Suite from the 2021 Stampin' Up! January to June Mini Catalogue. This is a beautiful suite, and one I have found to be very popular with my customers.

Find the Hydrangea Hill Suite HERE in my online store.

Stampin Up Hydrangea Haven 2021 Mothers Day Card by Claire Daly Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

The star of the show with this card is the Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper (DSP). This paper will only be around for another couple of months, and it's such a great coordinating item for the bundle (the bundle is carrying over to the new 2021 Annual Catalogue). The floral spray on this card is just fussy cut from the DSP. I have also used the new Fresh Freesia InColor cardstock as the base card and the die cut (cut from the Ornate Layers Dies). One of the shades of the Pastel Pearl embellishments from this suite, perfectly coordinate with Fresh Freesia, so I have added these to the card too. I really liked this greeting in the Hydrangea Haven stamp set for Mother's Day. It sums up Mothers everywhere don't you think?

Here's a closer look at the Hydrangea Haven bundle (carrying over) and the Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper (not carrying over beyond June 30th). The Pastel Pearls in the suite are carrying over, as is the Hydrangea Hill Mercury Acetate. The Gorgeous Grape ribbon will be retiring with the paper on June 30th.

Two Stampin' Up! Art Gallery Bundle Cards: Thinking of You and Miss You

Hello stampers :)

Today I have two cards to show you which I have made using the Art Gallery Bundle and the Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper. Both cards are pretty simple and designed to show off the beautiful paper and the coordinating Fine Art Ribbon. This paper was hand painted by Stampin' Up! artists and is one of my most favourite Stampin' Up! papers ever!

Stampin Up Art Gallery Bundle 2021 cards by Claire daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Melbourne Australia

My base card on this one is Petal Pink. For the stamping, I have stamped directly onto one of the lighter neutral paper pieces. The ink colour I have used was Flirty Flamingo and I stamped it off once to give a lighter shade.

The Champagne Rhinestones look great with this paper as well.

For my slimline card, I have used the die cut words in the bundle for my sentiment, and cut these from Flirty Flamingo cardstock. I stamped the other sentiment directly onto the patterned paper again. The base card for this one is Flirty Flamingo, but there is also a teeny mat of Old Olive cardstock around the patterned paper (I think I would make it a little more noticeable next time).

The Fine Art Ribbon is so beautiful. It's a natural base, but has lovely gold flecks through it. I'm so glad it's carrying over to the new 2021 Annual Catalogue (more details below). The bundle will be carrying over too, but sadly not the Fine Art Floral DSP, so make sure to get that before June 3oth!

Stampin' Up! Hey Birthday Chick Birthday Card

Hey friends. Today I have a fun card for the chook / hen lovers. It's a birthday card using the Hey Birthday Chick stamp set from the 2021 January to June mini catalogue.

Stampin Up Hey Birthday Chick birthday card by Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

This Hey Birthday Chick stamp set is in the January to June Mini Catalogue. Since the catalogue was published, coordinating dies have been produced, so you can either purchase the stamp set alone or as a bundle with a 10% saving.

Find all the Hey Chick products HERE in the Online Store.

You will also notice there is another bundle in the same section called Hey Chick. This stamp set is one that was released for Saleabration in 2017, and dies have just been released that coordinate with it. If you already have the stamp set, you can just buy the dies alone if you are interested.

Here's the steps I took to create this card:

  1. I cut a base C6 top folding portrait orientation card from an A4 sheet cut vertically and folded with a bone folder.
  2. I next cut a second layer of Basic White which was 10cm x 14.3cm.
  3. I created a blended area using Coastal Cabana ink and my blending brushes (LOVE these new brushes).
  4. My chicken is watercoloured (on Fluid 100 Watercolour paper) in Melon Mambo, Coastal Cabana and Bumblebee. I cut out the image with the Birthday Chick dies.
  5. I die cut the sentiment from Birthday Chick, in Bumblebee cardstock, and stamped the additional sentiment in Coastal Cabana.
  6. Finally I added some of the Coastal Cabana Artistry Blooms sequins.
  7. The stamped layer is then attached to a standard C6 card using Dimensionals.

Watercolouring on patterned paper: True Love DSP Birthday Card.

Hello friends. Today I have a birthday card with another example of how you can colour the True Love Designer Series Paper in the Stampin' Up! January to June Mini Catalogue. For this one, I have used watercolour pencils.

Stampin Up 2021 birthday card with True Love DSP and Happiest of Birthdays stamp set. DSP coloured with watercolour pencils.

I have used Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry from the Stampin' Up! Watercolor Pencils set for the flower, and Old Olive for the leaves. Watercolour Pencils are a really cost effective way of colouring stamped images. In this one pack you get 13 Stampin' Colours for $27.75. You can either use them alone, with Blender Pens (which is what I did) or Water Painters (I find this works best for larger areas). This image shows the laying down of colour with the pencils, before I blended with the Blender Pen.

DSP pencils technique wm

My base card is Rich Razzleberry and there is also a mat of Old Olive cardstock on the base DSP layer. My sentiment is from the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set. This stamp (and others in the set) fit nicely into the Stitched Rectangle Dies. I have added a few Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the left corner, to balance the card.

I have also looped some Scalloped Lace Trim and Gold Cord (from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack) under the flower. This gave some added texture and interest, but also carried on the fresh vintage feel of the card.

4 Tips to Use the Ink Stampin Up! Ink Blending Brushes on Patterned Paper

Hi crafters. In today's card I am following up with some more ink blending. This time on patterned paper. If you watched the video in the last post you will see this technique in action there too (I have also included the video in this post). In today's post, I show the completed card and share 4 ways to blend ink effectively on patterned paper using the newly released Stampin' Up! Blending Brushes. I have used the True Love Designer Series Paper from the 2020 January to June Mini Catalogue to blend the ink onto.

Stampin Up Blending Brushes with True Love DSP. 2021 handmade card by Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

The True Love Designer Series Paper is a really versatile paper pack for using with a range of techniques. I found the blending brushes blended the ink really nicely on this paper. I have used Melon Mambo and Calyso Coral for my ink colours.

Stampin Up True Love DSP.

Four Tips for using the Stampin' Up! Blending Brushes on Patterned Paper  (Video below)

In working with the blending brushes on patterned paper, I found these these tips to be helpful.

  1. Hold the area you are blending with your fingers of your other hand at the top and bottom, to keep the paper flat and taut while you are blending (it has a tendency to slide and crease otherwise).
  2. Start with the middle colour first - I find that works best and allows you to come back and blend over the joins of the two colours. If you are only using two colours I would start with the lightest first.
  3. Start blending in a circular motion off the page near the paper and work onto it, so you don't get a build up of ink in one spot.
  4. Choosing a light coloured pattern paper is going to give the best result. Black and white is perfect.

4 tips ink blending on patterned paper using Stampin Up blending brushes.

Here's the video again, to show you how I achieved the blending.

To put the card together, I added a Calypso Coral mat to the blended piece, and adhered one of the cut out fowers from the DSP at the top left (before I added the mat). The front of the Basic Black card is also embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing folder. My breeting (from Best Year stamp set) was stamped in Black Stazon onto a 3/4" strip of Basic White cardstock and the decorative ends were cut with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch.

I would definitely recommend adding the Stampin Up! Blending Brushes (a pack of 3 is just $21AUD) and the True Love Designer Series Paper Pack to your next order.
