Stampin' Up! Slimline 2020 Christmas Card using In The PInes and Wrapped in Christmas stamp sets

Hello stampers,

Today I am sharing an arty, inky slimline Christmas card using In the Pines stamp set, a favourite Stampin' Up! set the last couple of months. I really like the look of Old Olive and Shaded Spruce together.

To get the arty, inky look on this card, I used a technique called spritzed stamping or spritzed watercolour. It gives a VERY cool effect!

How To Create This Card

I stamped the solid tree images from In the Pines stamp set in Old Olive and Shaded Spruce onto a piece of Fluid 100 Watercolour paper (it helps to have the Fluid 100 taped on the very edges to a waterproof surface in preparation for spritzing. I used the solid medium single tree, and the three trees joined together.

I then spritzed it with water (using the Stampin' Spritzers) a couple of time from about 20cm away so the ink ran. I then let it try naturally. I removed the watercolour paper from the backing and trimmed the top just above the trees, as well as any of the edges where tape or ink has left marks on the paper.

The next step works best if you use the Stamparatus stamp positioning tool. Watercolour paper is very porous, and it sometimes takes a couple of stamps in the same spot to get a good crisp image. The Stamparatus allows you to stamp in exactly the same position again if you need to. I stamped the outline image of the same size trees in Early Espresso, over the top of the spritzed trees.

I then added the stamped piece to a thin mat of Shaded Spruce cardstock, and adhered half a stitched rectangle die cut (also Shaded Sprice) to each end so that about 1" is showing. I adhered this whole piece with Dimensionals to my Old Olive slimline card base (21cm x 20cm; scored and folded on the shorter side and burnished with your bone folder).

I embellished with Champagne Rhinestone Jewels on the top of the trees, and a double thread bow of combined strands of Linen Thread and gold cord from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack.

My sentiment from the Wrapped in Christmas stamp set is stamped in Early Espresso onto Old Olive. I used the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch to make the patterns at each end. I then adhered it to the stamped piece with Dimensionals.
