2020 Christmas Gift Card Holder using Stampin' Up! Poinsettia Petals and Quite Curvy Bundle
October 30, 2020
Hello friends. Today I have step by step instructions to make a gift card holder from half a sheet of A4 cardstock. I have used Stampin' Up! Poinsettia Petals bundle for the decoration, and a brand new bundle called Quite Curvy for the die cutting on the gift card holder. This Quite Curvy bundle will be in the Stampin' Up! 2021 January to June Mini Catalogue, but is being released early and will be available for customers to purchase from next Tuesday, 3rd November.
Step by Step Instructions
1. Start with a piece of A4 Gray Granite Cardstock, which is cut down the centre vertically.
2. Score from right to left at 8cm and 20cm
3. On the 8cm end (at the right) use a circle punch (I used this 2" circle punch) to cut a semi circle in the end.
4. Add two strips of strong adhesive (like Stampin' Up! Tear and Tape) to the inside edges of this piece. This adhesive is recommended for boxes and 3D items as it sticks really well.
5. This then folds up to make the slot to place the gift card.
6. Stamp a sentiment in the bottom right hand corner of the folded up piece (this will also show when the gift card holder is closed. My sentiment is from Wrapped in Christmas stamp set, and I stamped in Gray Granite ink.
7. Add a piece of coordinating patterned paper to the top flap (I used a piece of Gray Granite patterned paper from the Neutrals 6x6" patterned paper stack) and die cut the edge with one of the new Curvy Dies (or any other decorative edging die or punch you have). I actually did mine separately but I think adhering the patterned paper on first would have been easier. When you die cut, make sure you do it high enough up so that the sentiment will be visible (but not any of the semi circle cutaway).
8. For the belly band, cut a strip of Blackberry Bliss cardstock 3.5cm wide, and the length of a piece of A4 cardstock (29.7cm). Cut coordinating DSP the same length but only 3.3cm wide. Adhere the patterned paper to the cardstock strip. If you are joining strips of patterned paper (as I had to) to complete the length, make sure the joins aren't in the middle area, so they wont be seen on the front. I started with a strip of paper in the middle and then added at either end to ensure this.
9. Loosely fold the belly band around the gift card holder and secure with Tear and Tape at the back.
10. Add several layers of linen thread around the belly band and tie at the back. I gathered these together under where the flower was going to be and secured with a piece of tape. I then fanned the threads out a bit at the top and bottom.
11. The flower was watercoloured in the same way as I did the flower in THIS post, except I used Melon Mambo and Blackberry Bliss reinkers this time, and only used Blackberry Bliss die cut foliage.
12. The flower is attached using Stampin' Dimensionals and I have coloured the clear Rhinestone jewells in the centre of the flower using my light Blackberry Bliss Stampin' Blends marker.
There you have it! I hope you have lots of fun making up your very own Gift Card Holder. Friends and family would be wowed to receive a gift card in a holder like this at Christmas.
