Stampin' Up! Wishes and Wonder Bundle 2020 Christmas card and a technique to create definition on embossed cards.
August 10, 2020
Hello friends. Time for some Christmas since, now that the beautiful 2020 Stampin' Up! August to December Mini Catalogue has launched. Today I am playing with the Wishes and Wonder bundle (part of the Wonder of the Season suite) as well as the must have Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing folder. This folder is amazing, and I will detail the technique I used to create the extra dimension and interest on the dry embossing.
My base card is Mossy Meadow, and the embossed layer is Old Olive.
Technique: Creating Extra Dimension and Interest on the Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder
- I placed the piece of Old Olive cardstock in the 3D Evergreen Forest embossing folder. You can lightly spritz the cardstock first to get even greater impression. The folder is 6" x 6" so the whole cardfront will fit in there for cards in portrait or landscape orientation.
- Place your 3D embossing folder hinge first through your diet cut and embossing machine (I use the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine which gives a great result. You receive the plates and details of the 'sandwich' you need, with the machine).
- Remove from the folder and allow to dry completely if you have spritzed.
- Using a slightly darker ink (I used Mossy Meadow ) and a Stampin' Sponge, lightly sponge the ink onto the raised areas. Start light and gradually build up the colour. In some of the harder to reach pieces you could use a Sponge Dauber.
I love the effect this techniqu gives. It really shows off the beautiful forest scene depicted in the folder.
I diecut the reindeer from brass foil cardstock, and the circlular sentiment was stamped in Mossy Meadow (this was cut out using the circle die in the bundle). The strip of patterned paper is from 'Tis the Season DSP which is part of the Wonder of the Season. To finish the card I added some Wonderul Gems and a combination of ribbons and trims: Real Red Braided Linen Trim and Old Olive Gold Trimmed Satin Ribbon (part of the All The Trimmings ribbon combo), with a bit of gold cord from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo in the Annual Catalogue.
Here's a closer look at the Wishes and Wonder stamp set. You can view all of the products I have used today in my online store. Just follow the links at the end of the post for each product.
You can also purchase it in a bundle with the coordinating North Pole Wonder dies, and this option is at a 10% reduced price compared to the price of buying the dies and stamp set individually. These dies cut the cutest reindeers you will find this year!
The 'Tis the Season DSP is a fabulous traditional 6x6" Christmas DSP with lots of small prints for a variety of different uses. You get 48 sheets in the pack (4 each of 12 double sided designs).
