Your Creative Connection 104: Stampin' Up! DIY gIft cards for any occasion

600 pixels

Hello stampers! Today the Stampin' Up! global Your Creative Connection team are inspiring you with a creative showcase of 'Gift Cards for any Occasion'. In this crazy reality we are all living right now, we hope that we can bring you some inspiration and ways to send comfort to other people too..

I use lots of 'Hello' cards, because I am always reaching out with a happy hello to team members, friends and customers. They are so versatile to have on hand for so many different occasions.  I have used the Scalloped Note Cards for my gift cards today. You get a pack of 20, with 5 scalloped edge card and envelopes in 4 colours.

I have kept them pretty simple. Just a tone on tone stamping of the large floral image from Forever Blossoms on both the card front and envelope, and some 1cm strips of paper from the Golden Honey Specialty DSP (you could use any coordinating DSP you had on hand).

The scalloped edges are already cut on these cards, which makes it super quick to get a great look. My greeting is from Timeless Tropical stamp set, and I have used one of the Stitched So Sweetly dies to die cut.

I really love how you get all the different colours in one pack. So quick and easy to whip up a batch of 'Hello' cards. Which ones are your favourite? I think mine are the Powder Pink and Terracotta Tile but it's hard to choose!

I'm really looking forward to popping these into some envelopes with some sample goodies for customers or team. Now is such a good time to be reaching out to people.

Art With Heart Team March Creative Showcase: Monochromatic Cards

AWHT Showcase Logo Rectangle

Welcome to the March Art with Heart Stampin' Up! Team Creative Showcase. This month the Art With Heart Team are featuring Monochromatic cards, that is cards that only use different shades of the same colour. This is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate the wonderful range of Stampin’ Up! colours across our inks, papers and embellishments that can be combined to produce the amazing monochromatic samples we have to share with you. To be honest, I found this quite challenging as I am so used to creating with multiple colours.

Here's what I came up with using Rooted in Nature stamp set from the Annual Catalogue. I didn't realise my sentiment wasn't wonky until I edited the pictures, so another post photo correction (I'm on a roll the last week!).

This card is for a lovely man, who lost his wife of 50+ years last week. His wife was a lovely lady, with family values that I admired greatly, I can't imagine his feeling of loss, but I hope my words provide comfort in the months to come.

Here are the steps I took to make my card:

  1. I started with a piece of Shimmery White cardstock 10cm x 14.3cm.
  2. Using a Stampin' Sponge, I started lightly building up colour by spongeing in a circular motion. I started with Soft Sea Foam at the top, then Pear Pizazz and then Old Olive. I wanted the look of a hill which is why I sponged on an angle in a soft curve.
  3. As I was spongeing and going over the edges, this also provided some ink definition on the edges which I liked.
  4. Using an aquapainter, I squeezed a little water from the nib onto some scrap cloth, then flicked the excess off as I didn't want the drops too large. Then I flicked a couple of times onto the sponged piece to create the droplet effect.
  5. I stamped the tree from Rooted in Nature once in Mossy Meadow, and then again without reinking.
  6. My words are stamped in Old Olive onto some scrap Shimmery White which has been lightly sponged,
  7. Finally I tied a little linen thread around the bottom of the card and secured with tape on the back.
  8. I then adhered the whole cardfront onto a base Mossy Meadow card.

Before I made the card above, I came up with this one for my Monochromatic card. I wasn't 100% happy, so I made another card, but thought I would post this one too. I think I would use it as a retirement card for a male perhaps?

More tropical inspiration: Stampin' Up! Tropical Oasis Product Suite

Hello stampers. Time for some more inspiration using the Tropical Suite from the Stampin' Up! 2020 January to June mini catalogue.

I started with this card using lots of pieces of the suite. I really love the palm tree image, it evokes happy emotions in me. I als0 love the look and texture of the Coastal Weave embossing folder and the Braided Burlap Trim in this Suite. Oh and the trinkets too!!

Stampin Up Timeless Tropical / Tropical Oasis 2020 card by Claire Daly Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

The 'DSP' in this one, is actually one of the Memories and More cards cut down to size. The palm trees are stamped in Soft Sea Foam and Coastal Cabana, and the palm trees on the base card are stamped in Crumb Cake (stamped off once). The pineapple is stamped in Soft Suede.

I also made some quick and easy cards using the Tropical Oasis Memories and More card pack, and the Magnolia Lane Large Speciality Memories and More cards and envelopes. I have just used one of the smaller cards on each card, and embellished with some die cut leaves and a trinket. The greeting is cut out using the smallest oval in the Stitched Shapes dies.
