World Card Making Day Specials

10.01.18_SHAREABLE_WCMD_UKSP

October is a great month to gather with friends and have some fun making cards together, as it's World Card Making Day on October 6th. This is a day us crafty types get to celebrate the joy that making cards and communicating in this way to other people, brings joy to the world. Who couldn't do with a little more joy?

There's nothing more lovely than receiving a handwritten card and personal note from someone tucked among the bills in your letterbox.

To celebrate World Card Making Day, Stampin' Up! are offering discounts on some basic card making supplies and a few extras, from October 1st to 7th. I love that these offers include the very basics such as note cards and envelopes, cardstock and adhesive. There are some great card kits too. All 10% off. You don't need much to make a card, sometimes the most simple projects are the best.

Find the Specials HERE in my Online Stampin Up Store.

WCMDMore than anything else, I hope you get a chance to sit down and create a quick card this month. Maybe you could invite a friend over to create with you. Don't forget the most important part, to send or hand deliver your card to someone!

Wishing you a very happy World Card Making Day.

Heart of Christmas Week 7 - Christmas creations brought to you by the Art With Heart Stampin' Up! Team, Australia

Heart of Christmas HOC picture

Today for our Heart of Christmas blog hop, I have recreated a fabulous swap card from my recent Stampin' Up! trip to Alaska. The card was by Jill Taylor, our VP of sales at Stampin' Up! in Utah. Here s Jill's card:

Jill

I adapted it to our C6 size card, and used patterned paper instead of ribbon for the banner.

Joyful Noel and Timeless Tidings 2018 Christmas card by Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

I'm really in love with the Joyous Noel Designer Series Paper. I love the neutral Grey Granite background, and the copper foil highlights are great for some extra Christmas wow. It looks great with the coordinating colours of Shaded Spruce (my new go to green) and Merry Merlot, a deep burgundy red.

Week 17 AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop - Flirty Flamingo

Hello and welcome to our weekly play with colour! Today, the lovely Catherine has got the Art With Heart team girls playing with Flirty Flamingo.

Colour Creations 300

Flirty Flamingo

Here is my card for today, a lovely soft combination of Flirty Flamingo and Smoky Slate.

Flirty Flamingo Country Home watercolor wash card by Claire Daly Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia. 2018 Holiday Catalogue, Christmas.

I did two layers on my watercolour wash, with a slightly darker strength in the second wash which I only did close to the image.  After the wash dried, I also flicked a bit of water to add some more interest. I have used some of the beautiful Frosted Floral Specialty Paper from the holiday catalogue as mu backing DSP (this piece is particularly beautiful!), and one of the Chicken Wire elements which adds some more country feel and texture to the card.

I hope you have enjoyed my card today. There are links to the other Flirty Flamingo colour ideas from the Art with Heart team, over on my lovely team member Catherine Proctor's blog. Catherine is our team member who came up with and is coordinating this project for the team this year. I'm so lucky to have so many great team members who pitch in and run things which everyone can enjoy in our team.

Have a great week, and I will see you back here next week with Fresh Fig!

Art With Heart Stampin' Up! Team September Blog Hop - showcasing the 2018 Holiday Catalogue

Blog Hop

It's time for our monthly Art With Heart Stampin' Up! Blog Hop. Tonight the Art with Heart team are sharing creative projects featuring the Holiday Catalogue. We hope our blog hop inspires you to get creative and make some fabulous Christmas creations. If you would like a copy of the Holiday Catalogue, contact any of the girls on the blog hop and we will get in touch with you.

Today I am showcasing a couple of gift packaging options, using decorations from the Holiday Catalogue. These little gift boxes always come in handy at Christmas for gift cards, as well as small gifts for co-workers or friends such as soy melts, tea light candles, handmade soaps, chocolates or other treats.

My first gift box would be especially good for treats given the image I have used (Macarons maybe?). I love these Kraft Pillow Boxes. They are pre-printed and you get 10 boxes for $8.75. All you need to do is close up the ends and decorate.

Stampin Up kraft pillow box. Decorated with 2018 Holiday Catalogue products, So Santa stamp set, festive farmhouse elements. Claire Daly, Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

To decorate this Kraft Pillow Box, I have used:

  • Mixed Satin ribbon with some Silver Metallic Thread.
  • Image from Sa Santa stamp set, which I coloured with Stampin' Blends.
  • Festive Farmhouse Elements which I have coloured with Champagne Shimmer paint for extra sparkle.

My second gift box is a decorated mini pizza box. These are available to purchase in packs of 8 and have a food safe coating. They are also great for mini cards and envelope gifts. I have used the Santa's Workshop Specialty Designer Series paper to decorate this box. I cut the image and the corners from the DSP too, so the only stamping on this one is the greeting on the sign (greeting from Itty Bitty Greeting, cut out with Classic Label punch). There is also a bit of Pool Party spongeing on the background circle.

It's a little bit hard to see, but I have used some of the coordinating Poppy Parade 1/2" Textured Weave ribbon on the sides, and also some of the Tranquil Tide glimmer paper (from the Joyous Noel glimmer paper pack)on the top of the box as the very base layer.

I hope these projects have given you some ideas for some fun and simple gift boxes. Now it's time to head over to the next blog hop participant, the lovely Rebecca Jacavou.
