Heart of Christmas Week 3 - Christmas creations brought to you by the Art With Heart Stampin' Up! Team, Australia

Heart of Christmas HOC picture

Hello lovely friends. It's time for some weekly Heart of Christmas Christmas card inspiration with the Art With Heart Stampin' Up! team girls.

Stampin Up 2018 Christmas card using Seasonal Wreath dynamic embossing folder, and All is Bright DSP. Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

This week I decided to do a square card. Although it has a few layers and elements, I do think this one would still be easy to do in batches of a few, by completing each element in batches and assembling together at the end.

Here's the measurements and what I did to make the card (the bolded items refer to product links at the end of the post):

  • My base card Real Red cardstock and is 14cm square, and the piece of photo realistic is All is Bright Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Catalogue (coming on September 5th) which is 13.7cm square.
  • The main stamped panel (9.5cm square) is a piece of Shimmery White cardstock with the Seasonal Wreath Dynamic Textured Folder used on it.
  • Next I sponged Garden Green ink over the embossing using a Sponge Dauber.
  • I used Red Rhinestones for the berries, and the Gold Foil bow die cut is from Stitched Seasons Framelits (quick - only available until August 31st), with a Gold Faceted Gem in the centre.
  • This wreath piece is matted on a piece of Real Red cardstock and then some Gold Foil cardstock.
  • The greeting is from a stamp set coming soon in the Holiday Catalogue, called Timeless Tidings. I have used the second smallest circle in the Stitched Shape Framelits, which fits inside the wreath perfectly. The greeting is stamped in Shaded Spruce.

I think my favourite part of this card is the different shades of green the spongeing gives on the embossing. I really like the combination of Garden Green and Shadded Spruce together too. I think that Stitched Seasons bow die-cut will be getting a workout the next few months.

Here's another look at the Stitched Seasons Framelits. Available to purchase (only until Friday 31st August - so just 2 more days) by themselves, or as a bundle with the coordinating stamp set. Get them HERE in my online store.

Week 13 AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop - Crumb Cake

Crumb Cake

Crumb cake 2

Today's card is one of the hard cards we need to make, a sympathy card. Words really are never enough, but they are important to say to the people you care about. I don't think there is any better way to say those words from afar, than with a handmade card.

Stampin Up Rooted in Nature 2018 sympathy card. Claire Daly Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

I have used the Rooted in Nature stamp set from the 2018 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue.  I created a water wash onto Shimmery White cardstock with a few drops of re-inker and my aquapainter. I used Crumb Cake for the ground, and Pool Party for the sky and Shaded Spruce for the tree. I added a few ink splatters and water splatters for added interest.

The sentiment is also from the Rooted in Nature stamp set, and is stamped in Soft Suede to stand out a little more against the Crumb Cake. Here is my colour combination.

I hope the recipient of this card can feel the love and caring thoughts for them that it hopefully conveys.

Now it's time to head back to Catherine Proctor's blog  to see what the other Art With Heart team ladies have been creating with Crumb Cake this week.

Thanks for stopping by today,

Claire

'I am' - a traditional scrapbooking layout using (mostly) Stampin' Up! products.

Lately, scrapbooking has been loudly calling me again. I dabble / have dabbled in pocket pages, but my heart belongs to traditional 12 x 12 pages.

My eldest son snapped this photo of me earlier in the year, and it seemed the perfect photo to get a little grungy with inks and textures.

Stampin' Up! traditional layout using texture paste, Claire Daly Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

Here's the process (I should have used Gesso to seal the page which would have prevented the warping. I was out, so I went head, but will do that next time. It's flattened out fine now though). Bolded words refer to products which are linked to my online store at the end of the page.

  • My base cardstock is Smoky Slate 12x12 Stampin' Up! cardstock.. This one must have been left over from a couple of years ago as it is textured. We have the smooth now which would be fine to use too.
  • I pencilled in approximately where I wanted my picture to go, and then used Silver Embossing Paste with the Palette Knives and brick mask in the Pattern Party Decorative masks. I wasn't particularly worried to get it flat and didn't even fully cover the mask, as I wanted a grungy, random effect with the bricks.
  • I left that to completely dry, and then randomly applied Jet Black Stazon ink direct from the ink pad to dirty the brick texture up a bit.
  • My 5x7" photo is on a mat of Berry Burst A4 cardstock. I've used some of the Pick a Pattern Washi Tape (love the versatility of varying widths of tape in this 5 roll set) to frame the picture at the top and bottom.
  • I've stamped some of the great textures in Timeless Textures stamp set in various spots on my page (I used Memento Black stamped off once). This set is really versatile for scraobooking. Other embellishments  are some Mint Macaron brads (from the Basics Brads set) and Berry Burst punched arrowheads from a retired punch.
  • My title was made using some letters in my stash, as I really wanted to pick up the blue in the photo and they were perfect.

Before I get onto my journaling, here are some close ups.

Then this one (which makes me want to jump into the screen and push that wash tape down properly!).

Here's a closer look at the Timeless Textures stamp set and the Pattern Party Decorative Masks.

This all about me page was just about random journalling about who I am, right now. That's not a number or a measurement. Everyone needs to do this kind of journaling. It's so good for the soul. Even if it's just scribbled onto the back of a cafe napkin, just for your eyes. I think all about me pages are one of my favourite types of pages. I used the very cool Swirly Frames stamo set (PERFECT for scrapbooking and great for cards too) for my circular journaling piece. My actual journaling was a compination of my own handwriting (using the Journalling Pens), with the occasional stamped (in Memento Black) word from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set.

I hope you have enjoyed this little peek into my scrapbooking process and favourite products. Hope you get to record some memories of your own soon.

See you back here again tomorrow night,

Claire

Colouring stamped images - August 2018 Art With Heart Monthly Blog Hop

Aug Hop

Tonight the Art with Heart team are sharing creative projects featuring stamp sets that you can colour in. We hope our blog hop inspires you to pick up some Stampin’ Write Markers, Watercolour Pencils, Stampin Blends or another form of colouring medium and colour in with your stamps. Don’t forget to contact any of the ladies on the blog hop to order any products, especially they limited edition colour your season products.

I have featured another Christmas card, as I just can't get enough of colouring the Christmas baubles with the Stampin' Blends. I have been going a bit crazy with colouring using the Blends lately, as I just love the depth of colour I am getting and the ease of the blending, They are great alcohol markers, and having them to coordinate with my Stampin' Up! colours is just a bonus.

The base card is Granny Apple Green,  vibrant green that debuted this year in the Colour Revamp. Here re the Stampin' Blends Colours I have used to colour the bauble from Beautiful Baubles stamp set (coming on September 5th with the 2018 Holiday Catalogue):

  • Soft Sea Foam Light
  • Soft Sea Foam Dark
  • Pool Party Light
  • Pool Party Dark
  • Bermuda Bay Light
  • Granny Apple Green Light

Other products are the new Swirls and Curls Embossing Folder (coming in the Holiday Catalogue), and to mat the image I have used Coastal Cabana cardstock and Silver Glimmer paper. My image is stamped onto Thick Whisper White cardstock with Memento Black ink pad, with the greeting from the Beautiful Baubles set silver embossed.
