Stampin' Up! Australia: Snowflake Sentiments and Winter Wonder Embossing Folder for 2017 Heart of Christmas Wk 19
October 04, 2017
Hello stamping friends, time for this weeks Heart of Christmas card.
This week I decided to play around with textures and techniques. My plans were to use the crayon resist technique on this embossed image from the Winter Wonder embossing folder, a technique I had recently seen and wanted to try. It involved rubbing the side of my white crayon over the embossed image, and then applying ink with a sponge. I think I pressed a little hard and/or my crayon was too long and I got crayon on other parts of my glossy cardstock. I thought I would apply the ink anyway just to see how bad it looked, and I ended up really loving the effect! It's like the embossed area has been shadowed which really makes it stand out. I love playing around with different effects with ink.
My base card is Night of Navy, and I have used a combination of Pool Party ink and Dapper Denim ink for my sponging. To complete my card I have used the Merry Music Designer Paper and silver foil cardstock. I have embellished with some Night of Navy crinkled seam binding ribbon (my favourite ribbon type in the Annual Catalogue), with some mini sequin trim in silver.
My greeting is from the Snowflake Sentiments stamp set in the Holiday Catalogue. I really love the size and classic font of these sentiments for Christmas, and I am one of those people that still associate snowflakes with Christmas, even though it's summer in Australia at that time of year. I discovered something very handy as well, in that four of the sentiments in this stamp set fit very nicely in the Everyday Label Punch in the Holiday Catalogue. Here I have embossed the greeting in silver onto Night of Navy cardstock.
Here's a closer look at the Snowflake Sentiments stamp set and the Everyday Label Punch. You can buy these in my online store, along with the other products I have used today. The greetings which fit in the Everyday Label Punch are the three top ones on the left hand column, and the image under the three snowflakes in the right column. The 'to from' greeting would also be good for this punch.
Now it's time to check in with the Art With Heart team girls, and see what they have made for week 19 Heart of Christmas. I hope you enjoy their lovely creations as much as we do, bringing this to you each week as a fun team activity.
Thanks for stopping by today. Pop back in again soon and I'll show you the other crayon resist card I had fun making this week.
Have a happy day,
Claire
A Wow!! card Claire, what a fantastic technique, the colours and embossed snowflake are so pretty, the crinkled ribbon sets it off beautifully. xx
