Stampin' Up! Cheery Chirps for Heart of Christmas Week 18

Welcome to week 18 of Heart of Christmas, and lots more inspiration for your Christmas creating.

I had so much fun playing with the Cheery Chirps stamp set from the Stampin' Up! 2017 Holiday Catalogue this week. It's such a lovely set and perfect for watercolouring.

For the first card, I took inspiration from the sample in the Holiday Catalogue. I used a combination of Aqupainters and Blender Pens, as I find Belender Pens have more control for smaller areas, with the Aquapainters best for the colour wash and larger areas. My colours are Real Red, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight and Soft Sky.

I also used the Touches of Texture stamp set from the Annual Catalogue, to add some background stamping (Soft Sky ink on Soft Sky).

For my second card, I took colouring inspiration from the lovely Teneale Williams, using  Real Red and Crumb Cake for the bird, Always Artichoke for the leaves and Soft Sky for the background. My greeting on the cards is from Merry Patterns.

I have also used one of the Touches of Texture stamps on the background of this card. To finish my card, I have added a bit of Burlap Trim, Linen Thread and a lace doily .

Stampin' Up! Art with Heart Team Blog Hop - Fancy Fold Cards

21122493_10156428242398840_3589509906599043916_o

Welcome to another Art with Heart Team blog hop where we are focusing on fancy folds. You will find loads of creative inspiration tonight, showcasing different folding techniques and projects. Don't be afraid of trying some Fancy Fold cards; they may look intimidating, but in fact, they are not that difficult to create.

I have created a Squash Fold Christmas card for you today. These are a really simple card to create, and only needs one sheet of A4 for the base piece.

The finished size of the card is 4 and 1/8", but it opens up to reveal a place for a 3x3 family photo, and some writing. On two of the panels I have done some subtle stamping using the Merry Patterns stamp set, which you can earn FREE with a workshop (in person or online) in September or October. Ask any of the girls along the blog hop about booking a workshop.

Here's what the back (chequered paper) and front panel (with foil shape) looks like. Each of those squares of DSP are 4x4 inches and the overall size of the opened card is 8 and 1/4 inches.

To make the fold, start with your 8 1/4" square cardstock piece and score in the centre both ways. Fold both of thee folds inward and crease with the bone folder to make a well defined crease. Then score diagonally as shown and fold that outwards and define the crease with the bone folder.

Here are some side views to show how it folds up.

Finally here are some closer looks at the decorated panels. It's a great way to use up bits of left over paper and cardstock.

Isn't this greeting from Merry Patterns gorgeous? It's actually a two step stamp, but super easy to line up because it's Photopolymer. I've also used some of the black and white striped ribbon, foil snowflakes, green sprigs, black rhinestones and mini ornaments from the Holiday Catalogue to give it a real festive feel.

Art with Heart Team Stampin Up Heart of Christmas 2017: Week 17 with Quilted Christmas

Hello there. Time to get back into the swing of Heart of Christmas where the Art with Heart Stampin' Up! team girls bring you Christmas inspiration each week. I was away visiting family in Perth for the last couple of weeks. This week we are up to week 17.

I'm loving creating these handmade cards and am looking forward to a relaxing weekend in late November where I will sit with a cuppa and write in these cards, rather than running around like crazy trying to make a heap of rushed cards in one weekend (me last year!).

Today I have been playing with the Quilted Christmas product suite. I'm not a quilter, but I do love this suite of products. I particularly love the colour combination in the 6x6 Designer Series Paper Pad: Garden Green, Real Red, Pool Party, Blushing Bride and Lemon Lime Twist. Very fresh and a little different for Christmas.

Here's the cards I have come up with for today.

I love the little triangles as trees. So simple, and there are lots of options for stars with the enamel shapes available in each colour range, as well as metallic.

On this card I have also used one of the Stitched Shape Framelits which are part of this product suite. The best way to adhere these is either with Tombow Multipurpose Glue, or even a hot glue gun . You can also see the Quilt Top Embossing Folder from the product suite in this card. I really love how it adds to the quilt theme.

Here's another sample using a couple more of the stamps from the Christmas Quilt stamp set. You can also see another of the Stitched Felt Shapes and the coordinating Quilted Christmas ribbon, plus one of the gold foil snowflakes.
