Trend: Hexagons using Afternoon Picnic DSP and a tip to use your ribbon scraps.

Hexagons are huge in crafting right now. In the 2013 Annual Catalogue Stampin' Up! released the Hexagon Punch and the matching Six Sided Sampler Stamp Set. There is also a super pretty DSP called Afternoon Picnic with a hexagon pattern included in the designs.

This paper features some of my absolute favourite Stampin' Up! Colours right now: Crushed Curry (how yummy is that Crushed Curry Chevron Ribbon), Coastal Cabana, Wisteria Wonder and Smokey Slate.

Ribbon Tip: I keep off cuts of ribbon in a little bowl near my craft desk, so when I want to add some additional texture or colour to a card, I can tie little extra bits around the main ribbon I have used. In this sample I have used some crochet trim and Wisteria Wonder bakers twine that I had in my cut-offs bowl. Love this effect.

Magnetic Platform for Sizzix BigShot

This awesome Magnetic Platform for the Bigshot is now available to order and in stock in my online store. Click HERE to view or order it online.

Magnetic Platform
This plate is for use in the BigShot with Framelits and Edgelits and Thinlits (and other cookie cutter style dies such as Nestabilities). It is used in the same way as the other base platform (in that you still need to use the perspex plates) but with this platform, the thin dies stay put against the cardstock or paper, through the magnetic force. I saw this in action at the Stampin' Up! Convention in brisbane earlier in the year and it's fantastic! It was so popular when it was released it sold out and we have only just had stocks replenished in Australia.

Here's the link again if you want to get your hands on one. I just did!

Stampin' Up! Ornament Keepsakes with Gold.

Today's Christmas card is a simple one, which could easily be done in multiple. It features the Ornament Keepsakes Stamp Set from last years Stampin'  Up! Holiday Catalogue (but it's still available to purchase; more details below).

I am loving use Gold in my projects at the moment. I think Gold looks great with purple, so I inked up the stamp in Perfect Plum, and then sponged Elegant Eggplant around the edges. The greeting is from Greetings of the Season (another carryover set) and stamped in Encore Gold.

To finish the card I have added a little bit of Champagne Glimmer Paper to the top of the ornament, some adhesive pearls to the body of the ornament and scalloped the edges using the Large Scallop Edgelit die. For the base of this card I have used the Natural Composition Specialty Paper. This self embossed pattern is perfect for card bases.

Vintage Christmas Card using Stampin' Up! Wonderful Wreath .

Lots of dimension and texture in this handmade vintage Christmas card. I have used Wonderful Wreath which is a new single stamp in the Stampin' Up! 2013 Holiday Catalogue.

My colours are Crumb Cake, Always Artichoke and Cherry Cobbler. There is lots of texture and dimension on this card, using embossing folders, glimmer paper, Dazzling Details on the wreath (love how that looks), popped up elements using Dimensionals and the different textures of the seam binding, crochet trim and twine.

I love how all these elements together give a vintage Christmas look. Here's a link to some of these products in my online store in case you would like to check them out.

Hope this inspired you to get your Vintage Christmas happening.

Back tomorrow with another Christmas design,

Claire
