Miriam is an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator who lives in Country WA with her husband and her four children. Miriam is the team leader of the 'Embrace Creations' team of Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrators.
Miriam was first introduced to scrapbooking a few years before the arrival of her first child. Her first projects included honeymooon photos and albums that she gave as gifts. She now has four children ranging from 7 years to 17 months who are her main scrapbooking subjects. Miriam loves the fact that in years to come her children will be able to treasure their special keepsakes recording special occasions and everyday moments in their lives.
When Miriam first became a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator she was determined that it was simply to order products for herself at a discount. It wasn't long before she rediscovered how much she loved sharing her passion for papercrafts with other people. Miriam enjoys the opportunity to share Stampin' Up! with people at workshops and particularly enjoys the social aspect of creating with others. She now has a growing team of Demonstrators.
We asked Miriam some questions about her scrapbooking and Stampin' Up!
Can you show us a favourite layout?
I'm not someone who really has a "favourite layout" .... but here is a layout I completed recently that my daughter loves. It is always so lovely when the kids are delighted by the pages I create for them.
How would you describe your scrapbooking space?
My scrapbook space has been dubbed 'The Tardis' (as in the Tardis from Doctor Who.) It is a space that looks like a box or a room that blends inconspicuously into the house, however when you enter it - you get to see just how much stuff can be squeezed inside one little room. I like to think that when I enter the room I get transported to another 'place and time.'
We are looking at building next year and I am already looking forward to planning my new craft room.
What's your fave Stampin' Up! colour combination for scrapbooking?
I don't really have a favourite Stampin' Up! colour combination for scrapbooking as I tend to base my colour choices on the colours in the photographs.
Some colour combinations I really love together include:
- Chocolate Chip, Close To Cocoa, Riding Hood Red and Pink Pirouette
- Rose Red and Kiwi Kiss
- Old Olive and Chocolate Chip
One of the things I love most about the divine range of products from Stampin' Up! is how the products are designed to coordinate beautifully. With Stampin' Up! I can pick up some ribbon, chipboard, patterned paper and ink to create something and I can be confident that the colour coordination will be perfect.
Fave thing to eat or drink when scrapbooking?
'Naughty foods' like Chocolate, Black Coffee, Red Wine and the occasional Toblerone Cocktail.
Who are your main scrapbook subjects?
My main scrapbooking subjects are my FOUR beautiful children:- My seven year old son Jared; my five year old twins Erin and Adam and my 17 month old son, Luke. I used to try scrapbooking in chronological order but found it too stifling. I now scrapbook whatever photos take my fancy at the time and then the pages are added to my children's albums.
How would you describe your scrapbooking style?
I think I am a relatively 'clean and simple' scrapbooker who doesn't mind experimenting with different techniques and styles from time to time.
If I had an uninterrupted weekend of scrapbooking by myself this weekend I would ....
.... Be in heaven! Uninterrupted weekends of scrapbooking don't happen in this household. If I were treated to an uninterrupted weekend of scrapbooking I would more than likely scrapbook my piles of baby photos of my children.
