Di lives in Melbourne with her gorgeous family. First and foremost she is a wife and mother; two roles that bring her immense joy. She is also an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. Di is completely & utterly passionate about the whole concept of Stampin' Up! She loves to work in a very 3 dimensional and tactile manner with her scrapbooking and when she was first introduced to Stampin' Up! in early 2008, she knew she'd found the perfect product range and job for her.
Di has been scrapbooking for around 7 years now and jokingly blames a dear friend for getting her into all of this in the first place but she knowingly confesses that the scrapbooking bug was going to get her no matter what! It's just her thing. It is a great passion of Di's to share her knowledge of craft with others and she loves to do this through workshops, classes and get togethers with her crafting friends. Di has a work history in marketing, design and customer service and these skills have made for a great lead up into her Stampin' Up! role. Sometimes she even feels guilty that she enjoys it so much.
We asked Di some questions about her scrapbooking and Stampin' Up!:
Can you show us a favourite layout?
This is my favourite layout. I just love this photo of my beautiful Timmy. It's a tradition of ours to take photos of our boys every year in Autumn, playing with the gorgeous leaves that fall in our yard. I couldn't resist making a layout with this photo. I love the simplicity of this page and the combinations of neutral, green and blue colourings. I really enjoyed making this one, particularly experimenting with new ways to work the ribbons and felt flowers together. This page is particularly special because when my Timothy is all grown up he will be able to look at this page and read about my love for him the very moment I wrote it. Could I love him any more than I already do? Impossible!
How would you describe your scrapbook space?
My scrapbook space is small but fabulous because it's all mine. I have a desk permanently set up in the study so I don't have to pack up after my crafting sessions. I'm right next to a North facing window so I have lots of natural light on my workspace and my darling husband has just built me a wonderful 3 door built in, fully shelved cupboard just for my craft supplies!!!! Now a girl's gotta be happy with that! Husbands can be very handy sometimes!
What's your fave Stampin' Up! colour combination for scrapbooking?
This is a really tough question because I have many favourites but I have to say that I am particularly partial to Chocolate Chip, Kraft and Old Olive. I do like a healthy dose of Riding Hood Red, Baja Breeze and Not Quite Navy in the mix as well. I couldn't be without good old Whisper White either. It's great to stamp on and works as a wonderful highlight as well.
Fave thing to eat or drink when you are scrapbooking?
When I scrapbook on my own I'm so caught up in the moment that I tend to be quite oblivious to food. When I'm scrapbooking with friends though, there always seems to be a healthy supply of fruit chews and chocolates to go around. Yum!
Who are your main scrapbooking subjects?
Well, there's no suprises here. It's my two boys, Timothy and Liam. I can never get enough of their sweet faces and silly antics and they make just the best subject matter for my scrapbook layouts. My dear hubby thinks I should have a change of topic, like the cat or some scenery. There will be plenty of time for that another day, is what I always say.
How would you describe your scrapbooking style?
I'm very much one who loves texture and dimension on my layouts. I love to embellish and I like to choose catchy or reflective page titles. I love my colours to really compliment each other. I like a fresh and funky look but I do also enjoy dabbling in a bit of heritage style scrapping every once in a while. I'm not one to finish pages quickly though as I like to get everything just right.
If I had an uninterrupted weekend of scrapbooking by myself this weekend I would work on .....
Pictures of my boys of course! I have recently had a number of photos of my boys printed in black and white and I would really love a solid weekend to work on them. They're growing up so quickly and I want to capture all these special moments in time before they disappear.
