My layout to share today was inspired by these cards by Angela Sargeant. Ever since I saw the card, I've wanted to try using Sticky Cuts Letters with glitter. My letters arrived this week, and I knew just the photo to dig out.
Supplies:
* Tempting Turquoise textured cardstock, Stampin Write Marker and narrow grosgrain ribbon
* Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper
* Sticky Cuts letters and blue fine Stampin' Up glitter
* Certainly Celery ribbon and a clip from the Clip Assortment
* Some Tempting Turquoise buttons from the Playground Pack in the Summer Mini
I quite like these clips. You can find them on page 148. I thought it needed something so added the little piece of ribbon (like Angela had done on the card that inspired my layout.)
Here's a quick and easy way to add some journaling. I just wrote out my text on some whisper white cardstock in blocks of single or double words, drew a freehand box around them and cut them out. I quite often use the computer for my journaling but it is nice to have a handwritten touch every now and then.
I guess many of you are like me in that I'm not a huge fan of my handwriting style - it starts out neat but always seems to end up a bit scrappy. Getting Christmas cards in the mail though reminded me of how we identify people strongly with their writing - I recognised who some cards were from just from reading the envelope. It prompted me to make sure I include some handwritten journaling.
The journaling reads:
'You have really enjoyed Gymbaroo this year Jack. Climbing, action songs, follow the leader, parachute and lots more fun. 2009.'
And lastly - my touch of sparkle .....
(It glitters much more in real life!) I can see I'll definitely be using these again. If you haven't noticed the Sticky Cuts before you can find them on page 145. You get 2 sheets of super sticky letters plus numbers and a few shapes for $17.50.
You press out the letter, peel off the white backing and attach it to your card or layout, then press down firmly to make sure it's all attached. Then peel off the red plastic from the top of the letter to reveal the super sticky bit. I then generously piled my glitter all over it and pressed it lightly to help it adhere to the letter. I tapped and carefully brushed off the excess then repeated a couple more times just to make sure it was nice and glittered. The adhesive is very strong - (like in Sticky Strip if you use that for your boxes.)
Isn't it a nice time of year for digging out some favourite photos, jotting some anecdotes and spending time on a thoroughly enjoyable hobby. Happy scrapping!
Cheers,
Sue Madex
