Stampin' Up! So Very Much meets Oh So Succulent for Saleabration / Occasions 2017

Today's card features another of the free offerings for Stampin' Up! Saleabration 2017, but I have also used some products I was really keen to try out from the new Occasions Catalgogue: the Oh So Succulent stamp set and Succulent Garden Designer Series paper. I love my succulents and last year started up some succulent bowls on my back patio which are doing great. I love the variation in colour they provide in the garden. Now onto my card.

Stampin Up So Very Much, Oh So Succulent, Succulent Garden DSP. Occasions and Saleabration 2017. By Claire Daly, Stampin Up Melbourne Australia.

The colours featured in the Succulent Garden Designer Series paper are Sweet Sugarplum, Old Olive, Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe, Calypso Coral and Whisper White. So pretty! I have picked up the Sweet Sugarplum for my stamping, and used Old olive, Mint Macaron and a touch of Rich Razzleberry for my watercolouring (I used a combination of watercolour pencils and ink pads to colour with). The Oh So Succulent stamp set has lots of great images you can colour and layer.

The ribbon I have used is from a combo pack that coordinates with the Succulent Garden products. Here's a closer look at the stamp set set. It's also available in a bundle with matching Framelits, so check out the links at the end of the post to see all the products I have used in today's project.

Thoughtful Branches Bundle by Stampin' Up! - Just 10 days left to grab it!

I'm so glad I bought the Thoughtful Branches bundle by Stampin' Up!. To be honest I wasn't 100% sure at the beginning as I had other tree and flower stamps, BUT as soon as I started playing with it on my friends weekend away, I had to have it. I'm just finding it's the perfect combination of great sentiments in a great font, and some really versatile images and Thinlits. I make lots of cards using nature images too.

Here's a couple of simple cards I made to let some people know I was thinking of them. They were so quick and simple to make! For this one my greeting is stamped in Early Espresso  and my leaves in Sahara Sand, Soft Suede and Sweet Sugarplum.

Masking Technique using Stampin' Up! Garden in Bloom

It's not often I create a one layer card (well, technically it's a one layer card front), but I wanted to show off the lovely Garden in Bloom two step stamp set, and the Masking technique was perfect for this card. So simple, but effective I think.

Masking

Stamping Tips for a great masked result:

  • One of the keys to a great masked card is having a well defined edge to the masked area. I find using paper (grid paper is perfect) to mask off the area works better than cardstock for that purpose.
  • Grid paper is also perfect for lining everything up straight when you have a straight masked area like I have used here. Here's a picture of my set up before stamping.

  Masking 1

  •  I also find sponging a little over the masked edge gives great definition too.

Masking 2 blog

Here's the colour combination I used on today's card:

SU Colours masked card

The Garden in Bloom stamp set is a great set to add to your collection. It's Photopolymer, so really easy to line up. It's great for two step stamping, but you can also use the outline stamps just by themselves. You can check out this and all the other products I have used in today's card by scrolling through the links at the end of the post.

Stampin' Up! Wild About Flowers Thank You Card

Another quick and simple card today using Stampin' Up! Wild About Flowers stamp set and the Greetings Thinlits.

Wild About Flowers thenkyou card. Claire Daly Stampin Up Melbourne Australia

The flowers and stems on this Photopolymer stamp set are separate (so you can add various flower heads), but it's super easy to line them up with the guide on the stamp. This made the stamping off really easy as I just did the leaves first and the flowers. The triple banner punch made cutting the banner ends super easy, and then it was just popping the die cut sentiment on top.

Here's today's colour combination. I'm rather partial to this one. It seems fresh and summery in a cold Melbourne week.

Quick and simple butterfly themed cards

We have lots of awesome butterfly themed products in the Stampin' Up! annual catalogue, and they make it really quick and easy to make a wow card. Here's two butterfly themed cards I have made.  This one uses the Fluttering Wings embossing folder, with the Watercolor Wings 3 step stamp set stamped in Mint Macaron. I have added some bling with the silver metallic thread and by using the Greetings thinlits (LOVE these) to cut my greeting in silver glimmer paper.

Butterfly 1

This one uses the background stamp from 'You've Got This' along with a butterfly punched from Mint Macaron DSP in the 2015-17 In Colour stack (oops with the upside down writing - don't tell anyone OK?). For the centre of the butterfly, I have used a couple of Pink Pirouette Candy Dots (adhesive brads which come in packs of 100, 10 of each of 10 colours in each Stampin' Up! color group). These are great embellishments to have on hand.

Stampin' Up! Timeless Elegance and One Big Meaning for SB108

Hello friends.

Today I get to share one of my favourite products from the new 2015 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue with you, this beautiful 12x12 paper pack called Timeless Elegance. Oh my goodness, how beautiful is it? Reminds me of an old English cottage somewhere sunny and peaceful. I just wanted to use it on a card straight out of the pack as there were so many beautiful designs on the pages. I think I managed to use 4 different sheets here. Today's card is for the Stamping and Blogging Design Team weekly sketch, SB108. Don't forget you can play along with the sketch now too and link your image (more details at the end of the post).

Stampin Up Timeless Elegance DSP and One Big Meaning Stamp Set for SB108 by Claire Daly, Australia at www.clairedaly.typepad.com

The coordinating colours given for this 12x12 double sided paper pack (there's 12 sheets, 2 each of 6 designs) are Sahara Sand, Basic Black and Very Vanilla. I found Tip Top Taupe is a great coordinating colour and I have used Blushing Bride as my pink. I have stamped directly onto one pattern of the paper, used another pattern for the scallop mat, another under the lace and twine, and that final beautiful rose pattern for the main layer. I have seen some lovely cards where the roses have been coloured with sponge daubers and ink, but I thought I'd start with them 'a la natural today'.

You might also spy one of the new adhesive metal rimmed pearls (these are flat back) in the centre of my flower. My greeting is from a great new thankyou set called One Big Meaning. You can view all the products I have used today in the links below.

Stampin' Up! Quick and Simple Thank You card - Sneak Peek

Hello friends.

You know sometimes you want to make a bunch of super simple thankyou cards to have on hand? Well that's was my project this past weekend. I wanted a quick and simple hand made card using Stampin' Up! products that I could mass produce. Our notecard and envelope packs are perfect to use for these, and I chose the crumb cake ones to whip up 20 of these:

Stampin' Up! quick and simpe thank you card. Claire Daly Melbourne Australia.

My stamp set is a new hostess set sneak peek from the 2015/16 Stampin' Up! catalogue, called A Whole Lot of Lovely. It's a great set of 4 stamps which coordinates with our 2" and 2.5" circle punches. I love using circles on my cards. It really balances the rectangle of the card.

3 ways this card was super simple and quick:

  • I used the new Triple Banner Punch (= totally LOVE this new tool) so was able to quickly create the banner ends on the 1" and 1.5" inch paper strips.
  • I stamped the greeting just in one colour and added colour later with a simple punched flowers. By stamping and then punching I didn't need to be too precise with my stamping.
  • I used the notecards and envelopes which are a perfect size and one quick stamp on the envelope customised the envelopes to match.

I loved using two of the new 2015/2017 Stampin' Up! In Colors on these cards too. Here is the colour combination for this project.

Colour combo thankyou 2

I have some more notecard size cards coming up later in the week. These are fabulous to have on hand for quick simple cards. You can find them here in my online store.

See you back here again soon,

New Colours meets Retiring favourite for the Art with Heart Team May blog hop.

Start

Today I'm bringing you another AWHT Blog Hop with some of the awesome ladies in the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! Team. Today our focus is on our favourite retiring product, but many of us couldn't resist throwing in some new product too!

Stampin Up From My Heart Mint Macaron Claire Daly Melbourne Australia

I have used several of my favourite retiring products on this card.

  • The Dictionary background stamp is beautiful for giving a fresh vintage look to your projects. I especially like ink the stamp up and placing the card on top and applying uneven pressure, so that a few areas remain un-inked, or only lightly inked.
  • The Window Frame Framelits are another favourite. I love how you can mat the shape with a square piece of cardstock for an interesting effect.
  • My favourite retiring stamp set is From My Heart. It's such a beautiful set with some really lovely images which also include greetings.

Of course I had to throw in some of the new products I am loving too! As you can the new In Colour Mint Macaron is a firm favourite already.

Stampin Up Colour Combinations 2015 Mint Macaron

AWHT may blog hop 1

I am also totally LOVING the new triple banner punch. It makes creating banner ends so simple, because you can punch 1", 1.5" and 2" banner ends in a flash, using this great new punch. I used it to create the banner ends on the Pink Pirouette DSP and vellum on my card. Add this great punch to your wish list for ordering after June 2nd (It's on page 162, item 138292).

Now it's time to move on to the next bog, my lovely team member Nikki Sadler.

End

If you get lost anywhere along the way, here's the list of my team members who are participating in the blog hop this month.

1. Judy May
2. Tina Gillespie

Stampin' Up! Watercolour Thankyou and retiring In Colours for SB100

Hello friends,

I'm back from my lovely family holiday in Perth, Western Australia (stay tuned for some pictures) and back into the swing of things with this weeks Stamping and Blogging DT Sketch Challenge - SB 100. What a great milestone for these wonderful weekly sketch challenges.

Here's my card for this week. It's very simple, but with such a large sentiment and a busy background paper, I felt the rest needed to be simple. SB 100 card

My background paper is the lovely DSP pack Something Borrowed which is a range of papers just in Sahara Sand and white, which are great for wedding stationery too. My cardstock is Pistachio Pudding and Crisp Cantaloupe, both of which are part of the soon to retire 2013-15 In Colours. If you haven't completed your collection of any of these colours, now is the time to order inks, refills, cardstock or markers as once the retiring list comes out (in April 21st) they go very quickly. These are the colours that are retiring:

Stampin' Up! World of Dreams for Stamping and Blogging

Hello lovely friends.

Today I have a simple gratitude card for you, based on this weeks sketch from Stamping and Blogging, and using colours inspired by my new doona cover which I love! It's actually black, grey, white and lime, but I have used crushed curry here. The quilt cover is a forest theme, so I have used our lovely set World of Dreams for foliage.

My greeting came from one of the Project Life sets from the holiday catalogue, called Holiday Cheer.

Here's a look at the two sets I have used on this card. You can click on the links at the end of my post to view or order these products from my online store. First, here's World of Dreams which is available in clear mount or wood mount.

Stamping Up Products Used This Week

CASEing the Catty Stampin' Up! Challenges

I'm excited to have another opportunity to share my Stampin' Up! creative projects as part of the design team for an all new challenge blog, called CASEing the Catty. I love the idea behind the challenges by the lovely Bron Eastley. The challenges are 100% Stampin' Up! and you can view the individual products used in each product in links to my online Stampin' Up! store at the end of each post. The idea of the challenge is to encourage you to case a project from a category in the 2014 Stampin'  Up! Catalogue. It;s a fabulous challenge blog so I hope you will play along. This week it was Gifts and Packaging.

I chose to CASE the gift box pictured top left on page 14 of the 2014 Australian Stampin' Up! Catalogue. I liked the use of the doily and belly band, which could be customised for so many different types of projects. The base box for the project is the Tag a Bag Gift Boxes where you get 8 pre-cut and scored boxes with acetate sleeves, for just $11.95. Embellishing your own gift boxes gives extra WOW to your gifts, and lets your personality shine through to the recipient. It's a great way to use up paper and embellishment left overs and it's easy to make your gifts look SO pretty!

I chose to embellish the gift box using one of my favourite sheets from the All Abloom DSP paper stack, with lots of great colours in it including Mossy Meadow, Blushing Bride, Strawberry Slush, Daffodil Delight. I also clear embossed a similar image fr0m I Like You Hostess Set on the box for some subtle decoration.

For my actual embellishment, I added some contrasting Strawberry Slush paper from In Colour paper stack, along with some Mossy Meadow stitched satin ribbon, Gold bakers twine, Gold Sequin Trim, a butterfly and a greeting. You can view all the products I used in my online Stampin' Up! store, just click on the links below.

I hope you enjoyed today's project share. Make sure you head over to the CASEing the Catty blog and check out the other projects from the talented design team, and submit your own project. I love pretty gift packaging and I'd really like to do more projects like this to share with you, so watch this space.

Have a fabulous week.

Stampin' Up! Projects Used in this Project

Brushless watercolour technique using Stampin' Up! Peaceful Petals

Hello lovely people. Today's card share is a super simple technique that produces lovely watercolour look results.

Brushless Watercolour Technique using Stampin' Up! Peaceful Petals by Claire Daly Stampin' Up! Demonstrator melbourne Australia at www.clairedaly.typepad.com

To achieve this look I embossed the image from Stampin' Up! Peaceful Petals in gold embossing powder onto watercolour paper (it's important to use watercolour paper for this technique). Then I gave the image 3 quick sprays from a mister bottle held about 30cm away (make sure you place some scrap paper underneath!). Then I randomly dropped drops of Strawberry Slush and Rich Razzleberry re-inker which disperse on hitting the wet paper. I then let it dry (you can hurry it along with a heat tool and even a paper towel to sponge up some of the extra water.

My base card is Strawberry Slush and I stamped the same image onto the card in Strawberry Slush ink. My greeting also from Peaceful Petals) is gold embossed onto Very Vanilla cardstock.

I hope you have fun trying out this technique. If you would like to recreate this card, you can purchase these products in my online Stampin' Up! store. All the product links are below.

See you back here tomorrow with another share.

Step by Step Tutorial: Triple Layer Card using Regarding Dahlias Stamp Set and Emboss Resist Technique.

I've had this card in my head since I purchased the new Regarding Dahlia's Stamp Set from the 2013 Stampin' Up! Australia Annual Catalogue. I could see straight away the set would be perfect for a triple layer card and the emboss resist technique.

Stampin Up Regrading Dahlias emboss resist triple layer card

The colours I have used are Strawberry Slush, Rich Razzleberry, Early Espresso, Naturals Ivory and Gold.

Regarding Dahlias Stampin Up

Here's a step by step photo tutorial to show you how I made this card. Any of the bolded products are available to purchase in my online store.

Step 1: Cut three pieces of Strawberry Slush Cardstock (Available HERE) for your layers. Sizes are:

  • Outside layer: 3 7/8  x 5 5/8 inch (or 9.9 x 14.3cm)
  • Middle layer: 3 3/4 x 4 7/16 inch (or 7 x 11.3 cm)
  • Centre layer:1 11/16 x 3 1/2 inch (or 4.x x 8.9 cm

We will be using the Regarding Dahlias Stamp Set for the emboss resist, Clear mount set is available HERE and wood mount set HERE.

Step 2: Adhere the three layers one on top of the other (with the smallest piece on top) using only a small spot of repositionable adhesive as they will be pulled apart again soon. Stamp the Dahlia stamp randomly over the three layers in Versamark Ink (available HERE). Cover with clear embossing powder and shake off the excess. Once all the excess a shaken off, heat with a heat gun. Don't worry that you can see some unstamped areas over the joins - thi s will disappear once the mat layers is added.

  • Tip: When covering with embossing powder do it a couple f times from different directions so you get the best coverage over the joins.
  • Tip: Rubbing an Embossing Buddy over your cardstock before you emboss. This removes any traces of natural oils from fingertips etc that might attract embossing powder to stick where you don't want it to. These are cheap and you can buy one HERE  in my online store.

Step 3: Gently separate the layers and lay flat on your working surface (make sure it is protected with scrap paper). Get out your brayer (a brayer is a rolling soft rubber tool that takes up ink and allows you to transfer it to your project. Quality is important for ink uptake. You can view our Brayer HERE in the online store). Brayer Rich Razzleberry Ink (HERE) over the three layers (you really only need to brayer around the outside edges of the two largest layers, but I only remembered that after I finished brayering!). The clear embossed areas resist the ink. Leave the ink to dry for a little while and then rub a paper towl over the embossed areas (this really makes the embossed colour pop).

  • Tip: For good brayering technique, roll your brayer back and forward in your ink pad (length of brayer across the ink pad sideways) and roll onto your card. You will need to do this several times to get good even coverage. The ink always looks much darker when you brayer it but dries lighter.
  • Tip: Clean your brayer by holding it under cold running water. Allow to dry on a soft cloth and store back in the box so the rubber doesn't get damaged.

how to use a brayer
Step 4: Reassemble the three layers, again only using a small amount of repositionable adhesive. In this step we will introduce another colour to add a little more visual interest. I am using  a Stampin' Up! set I use all the time in stamping and scrapbooking, Flowering Flourishes (available HERE in clear mount or HERE in wood mount)/ I am using Early Espresso ink (my favourite brown ink, available HERE) and stamping a few flourishes randomly onto the areas that aren't embossed (you can stamp over the top of these, just rub it off with a paper towel after the ink has had time to dry on the cardstock).

regarding dahlias stampin up
Step 5: Pull the layers apart and mat each one with a thin mat (1-2mm) of Gold Foil Cardstock (available HERE). Reassemble the layers. This time you are assembling them permanently. I used Snail Adhesive (available HERE) to adhere the largest piece onto a C6 size Early Espresso card (1/2 sheet ofA4 cardstock folded in half and scored with a bone folder makes a standard C6 card). Early Espresso cardstock available HERE. This is a yummy deep earthy brown. My favourite Stampin' Up! brown by far! I adhered the top 2 layers onto the layers below using Dimensional foam dots (Available HERE) to give some dimension to the card.

Stampinup regarding dahlias
Step 6: To make the label greeting, I gold embossed one of the 4 greetings which come with the Regarding Dahlia's stamp set (same process as clear embossing in Step 2, but using Gold Embossing Powder (available HERE) ) .I cut the greeting out using the Modern Label Punch (available HERE) and the gold piece behind is done by cutting the two edges from a gold foil shape cut with our Artisan Label Punch (available HERE) and adhering them to the back of the greeting. I adhered this to the card using Dimensional foam dots s well.

Chalk Talk Thank you Card using scraps of paper.

Today's quick card was made using up some strips of Pink Pirouette paper from the DSP paper stacks (love the new patterns in these especially the Chevron!).

Pink and grey thanks

I just flagged the ends with my paper snips, and layered them onto a paper doiley which was stuck onto a base card of Smokey Slate. The front of the card had been embossed with our Chevron embossing folder. The tag is from Chalk Talk (get this at 15% off) and the colours I have used are Smokey Slate, Pink Pirouette and Coastal Cabana.

Hope you have a happy and creative week. I am having fun today putting together my samples and free crd kits for the 3 projects I send my 'by mail' stamp/hostess cub ladies each month. LOVE how this months projects are turing out! Lots of gold and silver. My next 'by mail' club starts in November if you would like to receive the 3 complimentary projects each month (instructions AND the cardstock and embellishments for each project) and the minimum $50 free merchandise. All the details here.

Be back tomorrow with more creations,

Claire
