Art With Heart Team Blog Hop: It's Beginning To Look a Lot Like Christmas

Team Blog Hop Logo 300px wide

Today some of my fabulous Art with Heart Stampin’ Up! team girls have created some amazing Christmas projects to inspire you with the theme, It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! We have tags, gift bags, teacher gift ideas, decorations and many more fun projects to create this holiday season.

I chose some gift wrapping options as my projects for this blog hop. First up I have some cute gift tags I made using the 2" x 2" cards in Project Life Hello December Accessory Kit (on special, along with the matching card kit until 11.50pm AEST Monday November 28th this week for 30% off). I love the colours in these and can't wait to see how great they looked on my Christmas gifts under the tree. To make these, I just cut pieces of  cardstock 6cm x 12cm and scored in the centre. Easy peasy!

The stars and the tree embellishments are included in the accessory pack. I just coloured the tree with a Bronze Sharpie for some added interest (bit obsessed with the copper look this year).

Next up I have a small quick and easy gift idea which fits 3 Lindt chocolate balls in perfectly. These little Christmas favors would be great for the Christmas table, co-workers, social group members and more. You can buy the clear boxes in packs of 16 for just $13.25 (Item 141699 Clear Tiny Treat Boxes) so they are very economical. I just cut three pieces of DSP 9.5cm x 4.5cm and scored in half and placed in the base and up the side on 3 sides (leaving the front side open). I then just attached a belly band of coordinating DSP and made a bow using the Bow Builder Punch.

My final project is a decorated gift box (I recycled one of the boxes I received charms in at OnStage). I love Poinsettias. They remind me of my grandmother. The Festive Flower punch (10% off in this week's Online Extravaganza sale) has all the bits for this flower (and there's a video showing you how to use it on the Stampin' Up! You Tube channel). If you want to stamp the leaf and flower veins, the Reason for the Season stamp set is the coordinating set.

Now it's time to check out some more festive creations. Next on the list is Mary Kelly. Enjoy!

Stampin' Up! Project Life Hello December 2016 Christmas Cards

Love love love the colours in this years Stampin' Up! Project Life Hello December Card Kit and matching Accessory Kit (both on special for 30% off this week). As well as being perfect for December Daily albums, they are also great for general Christmas scrapbooking. They also make fabulous elements for Christmas Cards. Here's a bunch of  cards I whipped up last night.

Stampin' Up! Project Life Hello December 2016 Christmas Cards by Claire Daly Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

Let's look at each card individually. This first card was super simple! The base is out 12x12" kraft cardstock, and I have stamped a few stars on it with Crumb Cake ink. I then just added strips of Candy Cane Lane washi tape, cut out the circle from one of the 3x4" cards and popped it on the card with Dimensionals. The little tree is from the accessory pack and has been coloured with a Bronze Sharpie.

Stampin' Up! Project Life Hello December 2016 Christmas Cards by Claire Daly Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

For this second card (I think this one is my favourite), I just used 5 of the 2" x 2" cards in the accessory pack. The centre card is matted and then raised up with Dimensionals. I have used the largest square in the Stitched Shapes Framelits underneath the centre square. The greeting is from Christmas Magic in the Holiday Catalogue.

Stampin' Up! Project Life Hello December 2016 Christmas Cards by Claire Daly Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

For this one, I used Merriest Wishes background stamp in Cherry Cobbler onto Cherry Cobbler cardstock for the base. I then added one of the 3x4" cards attached with Washi tape. The stars on top of the tree are enamel shape stars coloured with a Bronze Sharpie. and the greeting is from Stitched with Cheer in the Holiday Catalogue. I have attached some Copper metallic thread under the greeting for some added texture.

For this one, I have used a 6x4" card as the second layer and then one of the printed transparencies from the card kit as a second layer. Then I have just popped on a couple of sticker banners from the accessory kit and a punched silver glimmer star. The smaller silver stars are from the accessory pack as well.

I just love the quote on this final card, it's so what Christmas is about to me. The second layer on this one is a 6x4" card, and the 3x4" card with the quote on is just attached with Candy Cane lane Washi tape. The circle greeting is from the accessory pack sticker sheet and it is on a very thin mat of Emerald Envy cardstock. I have also attached some Emerald Envy stars from the 2016-18 In Colour enamel shape pack.

Faux Silk 2016 Christmas Card using Stampin' Up! Holly Berry Happiness

Hello stampers, I'm back to Christmas cards today. The faux silk stamping technique (described below) makes a great textured background for Christmas cards. It's super simple to do so you could easily do a few at a time. I have used Holly Berry Happiness stamp set from the 2016 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue, which worked really well for the repetitive effect I wanted.

Stampin Up 2016 Christmas card using faux silk technique and Holly Berry Happiness stamp set. Card by Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

My colours are Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green, with gold in the embossed greeting (also from the Holly Berry Happiness stamp set) and coiled twine under the greeting.

Stampin Up 2016 Christmas card using faux silk technique and Holly Berry Happiness stamp set. Card by Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

Faux Silk Technique Instructions:

  1. Cut a piece of tissue paper a couple of centimeters (or an inch if you are metric) larger than the cardstock you are adhering it to. My tissue paper is adhered to a piece of Whisper White in the image above.
  2. Stamp your images over the tissue paper. Allow to dry a couple of minutes.
  3. Screw the tissue paper up in a tight ball, and then very carefully unravel the paper. Smooth it out but not completely as you still want a few creases left.
  4. Using a glue-stick, apply glue all over the cardstock piece you are going to adhere the tissue paper to.
  5. Adhere the tissue paper, leaving a few creases as shown. Wrap the excess tissue paper around to the back of the cardstock and adhere with the glue-stick (this gives a neater finish than trimming).

That' all there is to it! Easy isn't it?

Here's a closer look at the Holly Berry Happiness stamp set (you can view all of the products I have used today by using my online store product links at the end of the post).

Stampin' Up! Wonder of Christmas and Candy Cane Lane DSP 2016 Christmas Card

Hello stampers :) Time to get out that beautiful angel in the Wonder of Christmas stamp set from the 2016 Holiday Catalogue again.

Wonder of Christmas 2016 Stampin Up Christmas card. Also uses Candy Cane lane DSP, Stitched with Cheer stamp set from the 2016 Holiday Catalogue, Watercoloring. Card by Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

I have watercoloured her using Wisteria Wonder, Crumb Cake and Mint Macaron with a little Smoky Slate on the sash. I used Aquapainters and the ink inside the ink pad lid for my colouring. The Designer Series Paper I have used as the background layer, is from Candy Cane Lane. This DSP and a host of others are part of a promotion this month where you can buy 3 get one free, so be sure to check my online store for more details.

My greeting is from the Stitched with Cheer stamp set. I've used the gold bakers twine (from the bakers twine trio in the Holiday catalogue) between the angel and the doily. I like the weight of this better than the metallic thread. There's also some wink of Stella on the wings, but this is a little tricky to photograph.

Stampin' Up! Candy Cane Lane DSP meets Star of Light

I'm a big fan of using Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper. It's the colour coordination with our inks and cardstock which first attracted me as a scrapbooker. No more searching for the perfect cardstock colour! It's also of course great for cardmaking for exactly the same reason.

Here's a card I have made using the Candy Cane Lane DSP from the 2016 Holiday Catalogue.

Stampin Up Candy Cane Lane DSP and Star of Light stamp set in this 2016 Christmas Card by Claire Daly Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia at www.clairedaly.typepad.com

Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso are a great colour combination and I love copper with it this year. The Candy Cane Lane DSP actually has Real Red, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Whisper White but it coordinates perfectly with these colours I think. I've also used the Coordinating Candy Cane Lane Washi Tape and some Cherry Cobbler twine.

The great news is that the Candy Cane Lane DSP is one of the papers in the Buy 3 Get 1 free DSP special this month. You can check out all the other papers in the promotion HERE in my online Stampin' Up! store.

Stampin' Up! 12x12 Scrapbooking Layouts using the 2016 Holiday Catalogue Products.

Art With Heart Stampin Up Team Australia Claire Daly

Today some of my Art with Heart Stampin’ Up! team girls are sharing some fun and fabulous ideas to inspire you from our brand new Holiday Catalogue available now until 3rd January 2017. Be sure to request your copy of the catalogue today!

You have come to my blog from the very talented Rachel Woollard. Blogs are full circles, so you can start hopping here and then at the end of each post is a link to the next. There is also a list of participants at the end in case of any broken links.

I have decided to show you a double Christmas 12x12" scrapbooking layout to show you how many of the Holiday Catalogue products can also be used in Scrapbooking (double click for a closer look). I LOVE Christmas and love when it's time to decorate the house and tree each year. I like to capture bits and pieces which get added to the collection each year and how the house looks. Just looking at this layout makes me excited for this years Christmas. I can't wait to add the new ornaments I bought in Paris to the tree this year!

Stampin Up Scrapbooking 12x12 layout using 2016 Holiday Catalogue products Star of Liht bundle, Presents and Pinecones DSP and Washi tape, Christmas Greetings thinlits. By Claire Daly Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

Here's a closer look at each page individually. I have used the Presents and Pinecones Designer Series Paper and Washi Tape for my layout, and my base cardstock is the coordinating Mint Macaron from the 2015-17 InColour 12x12 cardstock pack.

Here's a few little details of my layout. I created my own little photo descriptions on my computer as strip journaling. A bit of coiled Gold bakers twine (from the Bakers Twine Trio Pack in the Holiday Catalogue). Love the weight of this twine - perfect for using in this way. That's one of the stamped greetings from the Star of Light stamp set stamped and sitting over the twine. You can also catch a glimpse of one of the die cut Christmas words from the Christmas Greetings thinlits which I have used to embellish my page. I'm a big fan of using words on pages as they really set the scene for the emotion I hope my page conveys,

The greetings in the Star of Light stamp set are perfect for using on a Christmas scrapbooking layout. I stamped them in coordinating Mint Macaron ink and attached using the Presents and Pinecones Washi tape. I have used the Washi tape in lots of other places as well. It coordinates perfectly with the DSP and colours (which is why I LOVE scrapbooking with Stampin' Up! products) and I find it's great to fill spaces and create flow through the layout. This is especially important in double page layouts.

The Starlight Thinlit dies which coordinate with the Star of Light Stamp set make fabulous embellishments. I have cut this one using Copper foil cardstock and a layer of Vellum. The piece in the middle is a White Perfect Accents shape, coloured with a bronze Sharpie. Looks great with the Copper Foil I think.

I'm a fan of using coordinating colour enamel shapes to highlight journaling strips. Love you can get these packs of enamel shapes in our colour groups. I'm always reaching for them.

I did my title on the computer. It's easy to find the RGB codes for our Stampin' Up! colours using a Google search, and that's how I often print my titles for scrapbook pages if I'm not stamping them.

I hope this has given you some ideas for getting some memories down on paper today. Scrapbooking is such a rewarding hobby and I have been doing it for over 14 years now and so grateful to have so many fabulous family memories captured.

Now it's time to move onto the next Art With Heart team member blog. Next up is Judy May. You will love Judy's fabulous creations and attention to detail.

Star of Light Bundle on a Galaxy Background

A couple of nights ago I was browsing Pinterest and came across a lovely card using this bundle on a sponged background (I'd love to tell you who made it, but unfortunately it didn't lead to any blog or web page to identify it). It sparked an idea in me to use the Galaxy background technique with the Star of Light Bundle from the 2016 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue.

Stampin Up Star of Light Bundle (from 2016 Holiday Catalogue) on galaxy background. 2016 Christmas Card by Caire Daly Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

I've used copper embossing and copper foil paper as highlights which I think look great with the rich colours of the background.

Stampin Up Star of Light Bundle (from 2016 Holiday Catalogue) on galaxy background. 2016 Christmas Card by Caire Daly Stampin Up Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

For the background technique, there are a few good videos floating around from Kristina Werner, Wendy Cranford and Alisa Tilsner. Here's the basic steps though:

Step 1: Add splotches of watercolour wash to watercolour paper using an Aquapainter. You want all the paper covered, but try not to go over two many areas with more than one colour. I used Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Emerald Envy, Rich Razzleberry and Tangelo Twist for this step. Dry thoroughly front and back after this.

Galaxy 6

Step 2: Make up a watercolour wash using Elegant Eggplant and Night of Navy reinkers (I used twice as much Night of Navy to Elegant Eggplant) and apply (with an aquapainter) over the top of the coloured areas in a random way. You want to leave a few areas with less wash over it compared to others. Once you are happy (remembering it will dry lighter), dry thoroughly by leaving to air dry or using a heat gun on both sides.

Galaxy 8

Step 3: Water down some acrylic paint or craft ink and apply with a flicking motion onto the paper using an old paintbrush. I ended up with some streaky bits but I quite liked these as it gave the effect of shooting stars! This stage tool a long time to dry so I ended up blotting the dots of paint which probably muted the effect on my sample.

Galaxy 9

If you watch one of the videos you will definitely get the idea and it's a cool technique.

Stampin' Up! Santa's Sleigh Thinlit Dies

Here's a super cute set of Christmas Thinlit dies to use with your BigShot or other die cutting machine. They are called the Santa's Sleigh Thinlits and you can find them in the 2016 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue.

For this first card I have used the reindeer thinlit with some Christmas themed washi tape from the Presents and Pinecones product suite.

Santa's Sleigh Christmas card using Santa's Sleigh Thinlets and Presents and Pinecones washi tape from the 2016 Holiday Catalogue. Inspired by Linda Dalke. Card by Claire Daly, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia.

It was a quick and simple card to make. The reindeer is cut from Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper and that's Cherry Cobbler twine around the neck. I've popped him up with dimensionals, and the base card is Cherry Cobbler. I have finished the card off with a greeting stamped in Emerald Envy.

My second card uses the sleigh thinets in the set. I have cut the base sleigh in Mint Macaron, and the second layer in Dazzling Diamonds gimmer paper. I handcut the presents from the Presents and Pinecones Desghner Series Paper

Simple DIY Christmas card using Stampin' Up! Holly Berry Happiness

Are you looking for a Christmas Card design you can make batches of? I need these in the lead up to Christmas so will be featuring some over the coming months. Today's card uses the stamp set Holly Berry Happiness from the 2016 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue.

Stampin Up quick and easy DIY Christmas card using Holly Berry Happiness from the 2016 Holiday Catalogue. Card by Claire Daly, Stampin Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia at www.clairedaly.typepad.com

I've just watercoloured the Holly image from the stamp set (in Old Olive and Real Red) onto Shimmer Paper (this is a great medium to watercolour on as an alternative to watercolour paper), stamped the greeting and added some gold enamel shapes (on special this week - 25% off) and ribbon. The Real Red 3/4 inch stitched ribbon adds extra colour to the card front. Tying it in a bow would make the card too bulky to easily post. As an alternative I like to just tie some linen thread around the ribbon where the bow would have gone.

I love the elongated star shape and the intricate detail on both the stamp set and thinlit die. I am also LOVING Emerald Envy for Christmas. Here it is paired with Mint Macaron and silver.

I clear embossed the stamped image and then sponged some Mint Mararon ink over the top. I stamped some smaller stars in Emerald Envy and layered two die cut stars in Emerald Envy and Min Macaron. I added some adhesive rhinestones and embossed my greeting in silver to finish off the card.

Stampin' Up! Christmas Cuties Stamp Set - Great for Colouring & Retiring Soon

Welcome friends.

Today I have a watercoloured image from  very cute stamp set that is in the 2015 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalogue, called Christmas Cuties.

Stampin Up Christmas Cuties stamp set Christmas card by Claire Daly SU Demonstrator Australia

My base card is Tip Top Taupe, and I have used perfect Plum and watercolour paper as well. My colouring is done with a Blender Pen, picking up the ink inside the lid of my Crumb Cake and Almost Amethyst ink pads.

I have also used Wink of Stella clear glitter brush, a great product that we will be stocking from the launch of the Occasions Catalogue in January. This product is AWESOME, as you can brush on the subtle glimmer, and it doesn't at all change the ink colour underneath. Here's a view which shows the shimmer much better.

There's also another two very cute images to colour in this stamp set. Sadly this stamp set will only be available until January 4th or until sold out, so if you like it, you can get it HERE.

Thanks for popping in today. I hope you have a great day,

Wonderland, Sleigh Ride Edgelits and Jingle All the Way Stampin' Up! 2015 Christmas card.

Hello lovely friends.

Today's card features some more of the 2015 Holiday Catalogue products which are retiring on the 4th January (or before if sold out). I really like how it turned out with the contrast of the black, gold and Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper.

Stampin Up, Christmas Cards 2015, Sleigh Ride Edgelits, Antique Tags, Wonderland DSP, Claire Daly, Art with Heart, Australia, Melbourne

I have used the luxurious Winter Wonderland Designer Series Paper which is a fabulous combination of gold, black and white. I have cut a couple of layers using the Sleigh Ride Edgelits and my Bigshot; one in Gold Foil and the other in White Glimmer Paper (love how this looks like snow).  To finish off I just added some sequins, a greeting from the Antique Tags stamp set (this greeting perfectly fits the Washi Label punch) and some gold cord trim.

I think these Edgelit dies and matching Jingle all the Way stamp set have been one of the most popular Christmas crafting items in my online store this season. If you would like to recreate this card, I've listed the product used after my signature below. I'm always happy to answer any questions by email or phone too. You can contact me HERE.

Have a happy day and thanks for visiting,

Kind regards,

Claire
