Magnolia Birthday Card using Remarkable You stamp set from Stampin' Up!

Today's card is perfect for our 'nearly spring' days here in Melbourne. This Magnolia stamp is one of the four floral images in the Remarkable You stamp set from the 2015 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue.

Remarkable You Stampin Up Birthday Card by Claire Daly at www.clairedaly.typepad.com

I have water-coloured the image using my aqua-painters and the ink inside the lid of my Rose Red ink pad.

I wanted the flower to stand out, so all I needed was some neutral bits and pieces to complete my card. My greeting is from Happy Happenings sentiment stamp set in the 2015 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue. Love the font on this one. You can view all the products I have used in today's card by clicking the links at the end of today's post.

Have a great day and see you back here again tomorrow. Have lots to share this week,

Claire

Endless Birthday Wishes in a Stampin' Up! Birthday Card for SB117

Last week I sadly let Sandi and Heather know that I had decided to step down from the Stamping and Blogging Design Team. It was just one of those things where you need to stop and re-evaluate where you are spending your time as life goes on. Each year brings different things with my family needs, my business is continuing to grow and I like to have some down time too, just for me, to do things that make me happy and nourish me. It's inevitable that sometimes you need to change focus to  fit everything in. I think this quote sums it up best:

Balance

It's been a fabulous 12+ months with the team and I am so grateful for the fabulous opportunity. I know I will be friends with these lovely ladies for many years to come.

There will be lots more free paper-crafting inspiration coming your way from my blog, because if anything, I will probably have more time to create with just a blank piece of grid paper as my starting point. I am really looking forward to that. If you haven't already, make sure you subscribe to my blog posts (posts will be sent to your email) so you don't miss a thing.

So today we have my last Stamping and Blogging card, SB117.

Stampin Up Birthday stamp using Endless Birthday Wishes and Brushstroke Background stamp. Claire Daly Melbourne Australia

I really like how my colours worked out in this one. I've used Mint Macaron and Blushing Bride for my stamping, picking up the colours from the beautiful English Garden Designer Series paper. Bruhstrokes is a great background stamp. In this case I stamped off once, as it would have been a little too heavy for my card otherwise.

Here's this week's sketch.

So now for the last time, let me direct you to the lovely Stamping and Blogging design team girls to see what they have done with this week's sketch. Lee and Erna are on holidays this week.

Stampin' Up! Wild About Flowers for SB116

Hello. Today I have a retirement card for you using a lovely floral stamp set from Stampin' Up! called Wild About Flowers. It has some great set for retirement and cards for people who are leaving to go somewhere, I especially love this ' You'll be Missed' sentiment. It kind of says it all doesn't it?

Stampin Up Retirement Card using Wild About Flowers and Pretty Petals DSP for SB116 by Claire Daly Melbourne Australia

My card is based on this week's Stamping and Blogging DT sketch, SB 116. I couldn't quite bring myself to angle the layer of DSP behind the stamped layer though (sorry Sandi!). I really like the dramatic black patterned papers in the Pretty Petals DSP stack. I have picked up a couple of the colours from the DSP for my stamped image (Calypso Coral and Old Olive) and added some Old Olive Candy Dots.

A Stampin' Up! Happy Birthday card for SB115

Today I am featuring another card using the Stampin' Up! Remarkable You stamp set. This one is a birthday card based Stamping And Blogging's Sketch And Stamp SB#115.
.

Stampin Up Birthday Card using Remarkable You stamp set fr SB115. By Claire Daly Melbourne Australia.

I water-coloured the Calla Lily image twice (there are two flower in each image) and then cut out three of the flowers to tie together. I used Rose Red ink and my Aquapainter to colour the flowers with. The Smoky Slate background is embossed with the Elegant Dots embossing folder, and I have used the Everyday Chic Washi Tape and Neutrals Paper Stack for my background layers. My sentiment is from Happy Happenings. You can link to all the products at the end of the post.

Stampin' Up! Remarkable You for SB114

I LOVE a good floral image to colour, so I was all over the new Stampin' Up! set Remarkable You when it appeared in the 2015 Annual Catalogue. Today's card features one of the flowers (which we think is a lotus flower or waterlily) water coloured, along with a greeting from the set. It's based on this week's Stamping and Blogging Design Team sketch SB114.

Stampin Up Remarkable You for SB114 by Claire Daly Australia

Here's the colour combination I have used today.

  Stampin Up Colour Combinations #color #colour #stampinup

Stampin' Up! RemarkableYou by Claire Day Melbourne Australia for SB114

Tips for recreating this card:

  • I water coloured the floral image using an Aqua painter (see all supplies below) and the ink inside the lid of the Rose Red ink pad.
  • Stamp your image in Jet Black Stazon so you can watercolour without the image outline smudging.
  • Use our high quality Watercolor Paper for a great result. It really does make a difference as you can blend over and over without the paper pilling.
  • The Triple Banner Punch makes cutting the banner ends on this card a breeze.
  • Both flowers were cut out using our super sharp Paper Snips. The left hand flower is popped up with Dimensional foam dots (not the stem though).
  • Stamp an extra bit of the leaf pattern onto Cucumber Crush and cut out a few leaves to layer over the greeting banner.

Here's today sketch that the lovely Sandi MacIver has given us to play with this week:

Wedding Card for SB113 using Happy Happenings from Stampin' Up!

Hello.

Something a little different today - a wedding card. This week's Stamping and Blogging Sketch 113 and the new Stampin' Up! sentiment stamp set I received last week called Happy Happenings, were the base for my card.

Stampin' Up! handmade wedding card using Happy Happenings for SB113 by Claire Daly Australia

Lots of bits and pieces on this one and you will be able to view all of these products in the links below. Happy Happenings is going to be a favourite sentiment set for sure. I love the funky font and that it coordinates with one of my favourite punches, the Label Bracket punch (used for the sentiment on this card).

Stampin' Up! handmade wedding card using Happy Happenings for SB113 by Claire Daly Australia

I think a wedding card needs a bit of bling, so I have added some gold printed vellum, gold glimmer paper, gold foil punched hearts and some gold metallic thread. The little wooden heart embellishment I have used is from the Watercolor Wishes card kit.

Here is the sketch Sandi gave us to play with this week:

Stampin' Up! Sweet L'il One for SB112

There are some super cute new baby sets in the Stampin' Up! 2015 Annual Catalogue and today we are playing with Sweet L'il One for the Stamping and Blogging Design Team sketch SB112.

Stampin Up Sweet L'il One Stamp Set, Sweet L'il Things DSP & Washi for SB112 by Claire Daly SU Demo Australia

It's a super sweet set and the matching Sweet Li'l Things Designer Paper and Washi Tape have fabulous colours and designs for baby and toddler cards. LOVE the colours in them. Picking out a couple of colours from the DSP for your stamping (in this case Tip Top Taupe and Pool Party) makes it so easy to create coordinating cards.

Christmas in July - Stampin' Up! Lots of Joy for SB111

Today is the first of July, and a fun time to celebrate Christmas in July in Australia where we can enjoy all the winter Christmas treats and experiences that are enjoyed in the Northern Hemisphere at Christmas. I'm celebrating with my first blog Christmas card for the year for the Stamping and Blogging Design Team.

Stampin Up Lots of Joy Christmas card by Claire Daly Melbourne Australia for SB111.

Lots of Joy is one of the new Christmas sets in the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue. I love it because:

  • The plaid reminds me of Scotland where my Grandparents are from.
  • It has three great greetings
  • Images coordinate with the 1.5" circle, 1" square and Christmas tree punches (see links at end of post)
  • It has a lot of great coordinating colours: Real Red, Mossy Meadow, Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler.
  • It's a great way to use the long lines of rhinestones in the adhesive rhinestone packs! Line them up with the stripes and you have adhesive tinsel :)

Stampin' Up! Timeless Elegance and One Big Meaning for SB108

Hello friends.

Today I get to share one of my favourite products from the new 2015 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue with you, this beautiful 12x12 paper pack called Timeless Elegance. Oh my goodness, how beautiful is it? Reminds me of an old English cottage somewhere sunny and peaceful. I just wanted to use it on a card straight out of the pack as there were so many beautiful designs on the pages. I think I managed to use 4 different sheets here. Today's card is for the Stamping and Blogging Design Team weekly sketch, SB108. Don't forget you can play along with the sketch now too and link your image (more details at the end of the post).

Stampin Up Timeless Elegance DSP and One Big Meaning Stamp Set for SB108 by Claire Daly, Australia at www.clairedaly.typepad.com

The coordinating colours given for this 12x12 double sided paper pack (there's 12 sheets, 2 each of 6 designs) are Sahara Sand, Basic Black and Very Vanilla. I found Tip Top Taupe is a great coordinating colour and I have used Blushing Bride as my pink. I have stamped directly onto one pattern of the paper, used another pattern for the scallop mat, another under the lace and twine, and that final beautiful rose pattern for the main layer. I have seen some lovely cards where the roses have been coloured with sponge daubers and ink, but I thought I'd start with them 'a la natural today'.

You might also spy one of the new adhesive metal rimmed pearls (these are flat back) in the centre of my flower. My greeting is from a great new thankyou set called One Big Meaning. You can view all the products I have used today in the links below.

Stampin' Up! Amazing Birthday for SB107

Hello! I was so inspired by Sandi's gold and Mint Macaron colour scheme in last weeks Stamping and Blogging Design Team card, that I had to try out the same. I've used Stampin' Up!'s Amazing Birthday stamp set for this week's card.

Stampin up amazing birthday handmade birthday card by Claire Daly Melbourne Australia

I have to be honest, apart from the colour scheme, I really struggled getting the balance on this card right. In the end the only way I was remotely happy was to shorten the card a bit.

Here's the colour scheme which was inspired by Sandi MacIver (links to her two blogs below).

Stampin' Up! Butterfly Basics cards for every occasion

Here are some more cards I made on my mass produce note cards weekend just gone. I made up 20 of these and used a few different sentiments so I have cards on hand.

Stampin Up Butterfly Basics Notecards by Claire Daly Melbourne Australia

Don't be put off because the die looks intricate. I find it easy to get a good cut with these dies if you follow some steps:

  • I use injection foam on my more intricate dies, which really helps with getting a clean cut which pops off the die.
  • Make sure you have a firm 'sandwich' in your Bigshot. I placed the base magnetic plate, the acrylic plate, the die with the cut side facing upwards, the cardstock, the second acrylic plate and for these I added a cardstock shim.

It was quick and easy to cut 20 of the intricate butterfly, and then I popped out the extra pieces with the paper pierce while I was watching TV.

Here's the Stampin' Up! Colour Combination I used on these cards:

Sneak Peek: Stampin' Up! Awesomely Artistic for SB105

Hello there. Today I get to play with another set from the upcoming 2015 Annual Stampin' Up! Catalogue, called Awesomely Artistic. This set is already a firm favourite of mine. It's a beautiful set of nature images perfect for collage style stamping. The card is based on this week's Stamping and Blogging Design Team Sketch, SB105.

I was excited to use two of the new 2015-17 In Colours on this card, Mint Macaron and Tip Top Taupe. Love these already! See that beautiful script paper? That's one of the new patterns in the Designer Series Paper Stacks. I only had a small piece from my make and take packet at Convention, so I'm looking forward to June so I can order the colour pads.

Stampin' Up! Indescribable Gift for SB104

Hello lovely people. It's Stamping and Blogging Design Team time, and we have some exciting changes for you this week. From this week's sketch, you can play along and submit your own design link, and be considered for the weekly winners badge. Our new weekly sketch challenge is called Sketch and Stamp, but you will still find us in the same place over at Stamping and Blogging, and that's where you can enter the link to YOUR own creation each week too.

I used this week's sketch to make my Mum her mothers day card using Indescribable Gift from the Occasions Catalogue (this set will not be carrying over to the 2015/16 Annual Catalogue, so make sure you grab it before June 2nd). It's great set for colouring. I have used blender pens and my ink pads to colour here.

Stampin Up Indescribable Gift for SB104 using spotlighting technique. By Claire Daly Melbourne Australia.

You may have picked up that I have used a variation of the spotlighting technique, by overlaying the coloured image section, over the corresponding part of the same image underneath. Usually this is done with a circle image but I quite like how it turned out with the banner cut using the Banner Framelits. I also used the image stamped in crumb cake for subtle decoration on the inside of the card.

Stampin' Up! I Think You're Great for SB103

Hello there! Just back from the South Pacific Stampin' Up! Convention, so have a new set to play with today. This set is called I Think You're Great and will be in the new 2015/2016 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue (click the image in the sidebar to request your copy). This was the set we got for our make and take projects, but it was a great set for this weeks Stamping and Blogging Design Team sketch too. So great I made 3 cards!

I can't show you the stamp image yet, but it has two great backgrounds and the three greetings shown. It's a great one and there are lots of ideas swirling around in my head. The colours I have used top to bottom in the three cards are:

  1. Tangelo Twist, Bermuda Bay and Smoky Slate
  2. Wisteria Wonder, Soft Sky and Sahara Sand
  3. Smoky Slate, Blackberry Bliss and Rose Red

Here's the sketch we had to work with this week.

Stampin' Up! Retiring List 2015: Chalk Talk for SB101

Hello friends.

Today we are saying goodbye to another favourite Stampin' Up! set of mine, Chalk Talk. This will only be available to order until June 2nd, or until sold out (also available in a bundle with matching Framelits). The wood mount set is 25% off. The Beautifully Baroque embossing folder I have used (which covers a whole card front) is also retiring and is 50% off. You can view all the retiring products (at discounts of up to 50% off) HERE in my online Stampin' Up! store.

The sketch is of course, this weeks Design Team sketch from Sandi for Stamping and Blogging. I love this sketch - very simple but leaves room for layers and texture. Embossing and using a range of trims is a great way to add texture to your cards. I have also popped a couple of the layers up with Dimensionals. My colours are Early Espresso, Baked Brown Sugar (retiring), Blushing Bride and Very Vanilla.

Here's the sketch we had to work with this week. It's a great sketch which could be used in many ways. You could use two coordinating DSP pieces for the background, or even turn it 90 degrees clockwise.

Stampin' Up! Watercolour Thankyou and retiring In Colours for SB100

Hello friends,

I'm back from my lovely family holiday in Perth, Western Australia (stay tuned for some pictures) and back into the swing of things with this weeks Stamping and Blogging DT Sketch Challenge - SB 100. What a great milestone for these wonderful weekly sketch challenges.

Here's my card for this week. It's very simple, but with such a large sentiment and a busy background paper, I felt the rest needed to be simple. SB 100 card

My background paper is the lovely DSP pack Something Borrowed which is a range of papers just in Sahara Sand and white, which are great for wedding stationery too. My cardstock is Pistachio Pudding and Crisp Cantaloupe, both of which are part of the soon to retire 2013-15 In Colours. If you haven't completed your collection of any of these colours, now is the time to order inks, refills, cardstock or markers as once the retiring list comes out (in April 21st) they go very quickly. These are the colours that are retiring:

Stampin' Up! Gorgeous Grunge and Hello There for SB96

I love Wednesday's. They spell everything I love about being a creative person. I get to create, I get to share it with my lovely blog readers, and I also get to connect with lovely Stampin' Up! demonstrator friends around the world. Yes Wednesday's make me very happy.

Today's card for the Stamping and Blogging Design Team is one of my favourite colour combinations, with some grunge, texture and embossing thrown in.

Stampin Up Gorgeous Grunge and Hello There for SB96 Claire Daly Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

My base card is Bermuda Bay, and I have used the Dictionary background stamp inked up with Bermuda Bay ink and applied the card on top of the stamp with uneven pressure to get a distressed background effect. The black and white paper banner was then attached and I embossed some of the splotches from the Stampin' Up! Gorgeous Grunge stamp set over the paper and base card using gold embossing powder.

Finally I added some additional texture with the Gold Sequin Trim, Calypso Coral Pom Pom trim and a couple of hearts from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. You can view all the products I have used on this project using the links at the bottom of the post.

Stampin' Up! Vintage Birthday Card for SB94

Hello stamping friends!

It's my Mum's birthday this week, so I wanted to make her something special. I combined lots of bits and pieces from various kits and embellishments, and based it (roughly!) on this weeks Stamping and Blogging Design Team sketch, SB94.

Stampin Up Vintage Birthday card using Butterfly basics and Sheer Perfection Vellum by Claire Daly Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Melbourne Australia

To create a vintage feel on this card I've used all sorts of bits and pieces from the Stampin' Up! range. The base card and heart are left over from the Everyday Occasions Cardmaking Kit (click on the links at the end of the post to see in my online store). I sanded the base card a little to give a more distressed look. Then there's the vintage must have - Typepad Designer Series Paper, Tea Lace Doilies and little bits and pieces from the Artisan Embellishment kit. I also cut out and used one of the Vellum butterflies in the Sheer Perfection Designer Printed Vellum (one of the new Saleabration items released this week - earn a pack of 24 6x6 sheets free with a $90 order before March 31st). My greeting is from Butterfly Basics Stamp Set, a great vintage set. Then to finish the card off I used some Gold/Natural Bakers Twine and ties a little scrap of Sahara Sand Lace Trim on there too. I cut a 3" piece in half along the centre of the width, and then tied one of the pieces on. The messier the better when it come to vintage! Here's a closer look at some of the embellishments.
