Well it took me a few years, but at last years Stampin' Up! convention in Sydney the official photographer finally snapped a pic with me and Shelli that I actually liked! I have never liked any of the heaps of other pics I have had taken with Shelli, but this one I liked. It was part of a bigger pic and I do intend to scrap the while pic too, so apologies to those I cropped out of this one!
Now this is by no means a simple layout - it was still pretty quick though! Being Shelli, I just had to add all the bits and pieces that remind me of her - the lace, vintage brads, pearls, bright and happy colours. I have used the Sweet and Sour Specialty DSP and Love Letters DSP and I was wrapped how they looked when I put them together onto a base of Basic Black textured cardstock.
Now for the extra bits and pieces. I used the Typeset alpha die with my BigShot for the title, and stuck that onto a couple of pieces of Sweet and Sour DSP, edged with a border punch. I added a strip of pearls underneath that. I hand-wrote my journalling straight onto some of the Love Notes DSP (that lined page makes it easy!) and then cut that into strips to adhere. The journalling reads: Finally, after over 3 years of trying, I have a picture of myself with the inspiring Shelli Gardner (Stampin' Up! Co-founder and CEO) that I actually like!
The flowers are from the Floral Fusion Sizzlit die for my BigShot. I used a variety of pieces of the DSP and layered them with dimensionals and popped a pearl on top. In one of the flowers I used a Vintage Brad to create a bit more of a visual triangle. The ribbon is the black and white wide striped grosgrain, overlaid with some Victoria lace from the Summer Mini. Added a Vintage Brad near the top of that too, as well as one bottom left to finish the visual triangle. Finally I stamped the word 'friend' from Basic Phrases (as that's what Shelli is to her demonstrators) onto some of the Sweet and Sour specialty paper and cut that out with the Curly Label Punch and layered it on black cardstock to make it stand out a little more.
I've had a really lovely weekend. Despite the huge deluge of rain in Melbourne yesterday and not being able to get into my office to see my Dietitian clients, I got lots done. I did some scrapbooking, shopped for a gift and made a card (which I can't share just yet!) , had a fabulous massage followed by a fabulous nanna nap (I know you're rolling your eyes now Madonna, lol). Today Paul and Josh and I headed into my office with some more furniture I had bought and set that up while Sam played with his cousins. When we came home we played with the puppy. Like Karen so well said in a comment to my last post - Oh lordy he is so cute! I hope I don't bore you with puppy photo's but here's a couple more I took today (10 weeks) with the portrait lens on my camera (yes, I was sure bought that to photograph the kids, lol).
You'll have to remind me to look back at these cute pics when he has destroyed his first plant or pulled the first sheet off the line! Usually when I say try and tell him off he just does that cute head on side thing to try and get out of it ....
Hope you have a fabulous week,
