You would have had to have been living under a rock in blog land to not have seen some of these fabulous watercoloured roses by now. As mentioned in my last post I think the technique originated from Patty Bennett and you can view a free tutorial on the technique on her blog here. I was inspired also by these lovely cards I saw on Yvonne's blog.
For this technique you emboss the image in white (I used watercolour paper) and then soak the paper with a sprayer bottle and dab the colour from a reinker into the image using an aquapainter. That's the short version anyway! I kept dabbing it up and adding more colour where I wanted it. These Lillie's from Fifth Avenue Floral have been done using last years Purely Pomegranate reinker. The other colours are Kiwi Kiss, Basic Gray, Basic Black and Whisper White. As I was after a more intense effect here, I also put a really thin layer of Crystal Effects over the top of the Lillie's. I have also use Echoes of Kindness for the greeting and Priceless for the swirl.
This is a softer version using the large rose from Fifth Avenue Floral. I have used Regal Rose, Rose Red and So Saffron reinkers. I have also used the Sweet Slumber and So Saffron prints DSP and some Regal Rose ribbon and cardstock. A few trinkets from my stash as well.
I hope you like my version of these watercoloured flowers. I think the rose is my personal favourite, it reminds me a bit of Peace, one of my favourite roses. Some of my other favourite roses are Chicago Peace, Double Delight, Blue Moon, Shocking Blue (my wedding rose), Elina, Tiffany, Seduction and I am sure there are many more!
Let me know which one is your favourite (and your favourite rose).
Happy stamping,
Claire xx

Wow! these are beautiful flowers,Claire. Love the shading, esp. the flowers on the first card. Did you add glitter to it as well?

Both cards are beautiful, for me though, the favourite has to be the soft yellow and pink one, such delicate colours and a great combo, which for some reason immediately brought to mind the ice cream dessert Peach Melba. Mmmm Yummy

Love love the top one. Very elegant. I have many roses in my garden - so hard to pick a favourite, but love the aroma of Dolly Parton (a full red rose that fits the name perfectly....) and the colours of Double Delight (red and yello) and then there is Blue Moon, I could go on. Just pruned all the roses so expecting love blooms this year.

Claire,
I'm gonna confess to being a bit of a lurker around your blog. I love your creations and can't wait for a new blog update to come through, but I don't think I ever really comment on your cards. Sorry bout that.
I just love this technique. I watched the video on Patty's blog ages ago and had a go at this technique - of course I only have WW cardstock at the time and it was a little disappointing. I now have some watercolour paper and will be giving it another go in the next couple of weeks.
I love how rich you got Purely Pomegranate on the lilies. Beautiful.
Anyway, just wanted to come back and say I loved these card the first time and even more now.
Cheers, Michey xxx

I love roses too Claire and probably don't have a favourite. I seem to be drawn to the soft pinks, whites and creams, and the ones with the strongest scent always pull me in. I love the 'shabby chic' looking ones.I love the perfume that comes from them late in the afternoon, and nothing is more beautiful than a handpicked bunch of garden roses tumbling gently out of a vase on the table.Delightful...just like all your cards.
